LaGrange needs to re engineer the lights, with a no right turn signal at the intersection that triggers before the crossing gates are activated by 10 seconds or so. If the signal was triggered as the lead locomotive made the curve just before downtown, most of these incidents could be averted
Making it a one-way street, running toward the camera, would be a far cheaper and faster solution. As others have said (on this video and others), none of the responsible parties seem interested in changing anything.
I recall Lafayette Indiana back when they had trains street running, had the traffic lites rigged to automatically turn green for the train. It was illegal, but many motorists would tailgate the train down 5th street to get all the green lites!
the problem is that there are no traffic signals, just stop signs. and only 2 of the four intersections have RR crossing gates. Traffic signals cost $200 -500K for an intersection. So, one would be looking at $800k to $2 million and you need to have the traffic volume to justify the expense.
Note to Lagrange. Eliminate parallel parking on that side of the street. Make it a one way lane. This camera has captured way too many train-hits-vehicle with drivers who see the train coming but think it will stop for them. Not!
Morning of Saturday the 3rd people here in central Missouri at the bake shop where our creative writers group meets were talking about a small brief earthquake during the night of 2nd/3rd. I've lived in this little burg since 2007 and we've had several minor earthquakes during that time. Also remember a 1960s minor earthquake when our family lived in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. (I was born in SoCal desert but have lived southeast and midwest since 5 years old)
I liked the two UP EMDs with their roof-top Flags at Tucson. Also, seeing the BNSF SD70MAC at Chehalis. I wish I could shove my HO Scale Rolling-stock around, like the Hopper at Burlington. Usually it takes a Loco all the way to match that kind of a Boing. Thanks VRF.
You are right mate, they are Antenna. I assumed they were Flags because it was a special Train. I haven't seen Antenna like that before. I will keep a lookout in future and thanks. @@scottfw7169
Mike: 9:00 1.) He didn't see the train. 2.) He didn't hear the horns. 3.) He enjoys playing chicken with head-ends. 4.) Other ? PS: Excellent editing and videography as usual. A+++ 😁👍👍
I don't understand why they didn't either turn right and get out of there, or a couple seconds earlier, when only partway up the street, cross over to opposite lane where there is more clearance.
I mean..he moved out a bit. The least the train could have done was try to move a little too! Personally, i hate it when I am walking on a sidewalk and someone comes up and they expect me to be the only one to move to avoid hitting each other.
ADM car at 8:26, I wonder if they were a PBS sponsor back when I did watch TV, there was and I am not certain of first name, Arthur/Archer Daniels Midland. Could go plug that in to a search engine but I want to finish this video first.

Three unicorns in the wild! Life doesn't get much better than this.
I had to go look it up, but yes, there is a Pokemon unicorn-type critter--and that's what those three looked like to me. Very cool!
I live in Flagstaff, yes I do, neener neener! ❤️ Virtual Railfan

Provided that drivers actually obeyed the signals- which many do not already.
They’ve had this conversation many times before. LaGrange, Kentucky DOT and CSX don’t want to pony up the funds, so you get this. Over and over again.

Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, especially a bald eagle in Chehalis, Washington, and so much more, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much.
Great video, wild unicorns,an a beautiful Arizona sunrise.😊
That quake was felt here in Neodesha. Quite a shaker. We are 100 miles southeast of Wichita.
nice
Great collection of cars rolling through Burlington!
Great video compilation. That's how to hold VR.Greetings from Russia to all of you.👍👌
I'm not giving up this great LaGrange parking spot darn it. Ha ha.
Woah! These railcams sure catch good stuff.
But officer Lagrange, I did stop for that stop sign, but that big blue thing ran his side and just kept coming 😮😮.
La Grange is a rare situation where driving on the wrong side of the road would be a smart move. Otherwise you are in the path of a train!
Note to Lagrange. Eliminate parallel parking on that side of the street. Make it a one way lane. This camera has captured way too many train-hits-vehicle with drivers who see the train coming but think it will stop for them. Not!
Thank you once again
Sunset in Flagstaff is as inspiring as sunrise at Big 10 Curve.

Close call in La Grange, nice catch at hump yard in Burlington, great video!🛤🚂
It's technically a flat yard but this is the first time I've seen them kick a car, even unsuccessfully.
Well Midwesterners, welcome to a taste of California! I’m in Southern California.

Forgot to make sure the knuckle was open before the kick?
The two at Tucson at the 6 minute point? Is it flags or is it some kind of antenna like a lot of the passenger cars also had?
You are right mate, they are Antenna. I assumed they were Flags because it was a special Train. I haven't seen Antenna like that before. I will keep a lookout in future and thanks. @@scottfw7169

What was up with the big passenger train excursion at tucson?
I wonder if it would do any good for CSX to put their cops in La Grange and try to catch these Darwins.
CSX doesn’t want to pay for the crossing upgrades, but they have enough budget to put their police there?
8:03 no tracks to Arthur, ND

What's going on at around 6:30? Seems kinda long for an OCS.
Yip another new driver
Great job love the video
Excellent Video!

What’s on top of the locomotives pulling the UP passenger cars? The 4404 has two antenna like things on top as does the 4533!
If I’m not mistaken, those are cellphone antennas.
