I have the worst luck! I bought this a week ago (expensive to me), It arrived yesterday. I unboxed it, plugged it in and drove it for the first time! Was exillerating! The look on my son's face was priceless. First RC car. About 4-5 minutes in, I drove up the street to test the range and it died at max range. As I was walking towards it when I saw a truck coming...my son yelled "waitttt" My walk became a run! But RIP. Didn't make it in time! My son stared balling his eyes out like he lost a puppy as we ran to see if it survived. Was completely destroyed. Can't afford another atm unfortunately.. Looked into the parts, would need to buy the whole kit at $220 or upgrade to metal parts for about the same. Very unfortunate, was the best 5 minutes of our lives 🙏
I have been running a 120a Cheetah and 120a J3speed "Cheetah" for over a year now. Love them both. Extremely tough and extremely fast with all parts easily ordered. The J3 is faster than my buddies new Erevo 2.0. I am a huge Traxxas fan with a sizable Traxxas collection as well as many others. Always enjoy your videos Kev!

What I like most is that the brake lights actually work. If you look close you can see that they're dim when it's just rolling along but when Kev hits the brakes they turn bright.

Heck, got more to say ... I also own a DHK Zombie 100a and DHK Maximus 120a. The JLB Cheetah 120a absolutely hands down destroyed both of them in quality, speed, and handling. I purchased both DHK's after I had my first 120a Cheetah and was very disappointed. I was going to buy a VKAR Bison also, and called it quits after many review videos. Why waste another $300. I will still buy one sometime as I just have to know for sure...after my 4x4 Rustler purchase. Yes, it takes a few weeks to get parts... Do some 60 mph cartwheels down the street for a few weeks and see what you break. Order 2 or 3 of those parts, wait a few weeks and bash for months. Highly recommend buying a JLB Cheetah 120a (comes with Hobbywing waterproof electronics) runs on 3s-4s and enjoy!
Gotta say kev, you are by far my favorite UA-camr. Your attitude and personality are infectious. Alot of people in this hobby are far too serious, and they forget that its about FUN! Keep it up man I look forward to every video!
I don't understand how your videos makes rc so much better than me personally doing it. I mean yeah take away realism but still I have more fun watching you than I do playing with mine.

damaged first day of bashing... killed for good in about a month. In the same time I have nearly 30 other cars that didn't die. I don't recommend JLB or DHK or any gear best/ banggood RC brand. Not worth it. Maybe if they were half the price?.. nah... not even then. I'd get Red Cat, Traxxas, Arrma, anything but these cheap Chinese company RC cars... they're just not designed well and don't hold up.
Its a bison vcar/t2m pirate furious but with metal plate underneath and brace for the shock towers. Very fun to drive, but a pain to take it apart when you blow the spur gear. And that will happen. Unless you buy the differential for the spur instead of the slipper clutch.
I’ve had a Cheetah for 2 years and it still works great, I just upgraded the ESC and servo but they still work. The original servo is a little slow and the esc is NOT waterproof.
I just got this car today and so far it is my favorite RC truck that I’ve ever had and I have had Traxxas red cat WL toys all of them nitro HPI savage this is The funnest car to drive and it’s really heavy and strong and fast love it
Hi Kevin, I noticed it said it’s a waterproof speed controller. Would it still work if submerged in water?

It's the esc they say waterproof and I've had no problem operating them in the rain but I wouldn't submerge it even though it would probably be okay just by itself.
The esc that is blue colored is not at all water resistant.

I got 2 of these things now and they are the best rcs I ever had! I got the 4s versions. And I switched both to 19t pinions. It still wheelies like crazy, but it's a little more manageable. I also put xt90s on like Kevin and added a motor fan. Do yourself a favor and ziptie a nylon kitchen utensil to the rear shock tower and wheelie bar to prevent backflipping (set about 2 inches off the ground). This allows you to hold wheelies for 100ft! If you plan to add a 19t pinion it takes a 32 pitch 5mm bore. You have to drill the bottom motor mesher screw slot to be longer and you might need to cut away some of the gear cover.

Looks bloody good on the surface, that's probably all the truck the average moderate basher would ever need! I have a few decent things from China but I honestly didn't think this one would live up to the hype.

Hi Kev! I already have this RC car (120amp). It is very fast &fun.I ordered it from GearBest and it took a litel while... Than I finally got it an I charged the battery and go for a spin. After 30sec may battery died. Than me and my dad opend it. There was melted solder in battery and we reapird it. 1 month after it the same battery almost exploded. Than i bought a new battery (Modster 4500 3s). I removed the weelie bar and it did standing backflips... Have fun whit it!

Kevin it would be nice to see more videos of upgrades for this RC like suspension, bearings, gears & dog bones. Seems these parts need attention anytime I do any light bashing & I mean light!

Great vid. I'm getting this for xmas (I'm 46).a big kid! Never had an RC before this looks like a good starter one. Been looking at Redcat and Traxxas but they are a little pricey. Would you recommend this as a first bit of kit? Also what's the best way to keep them clean and in good working order? Thanks

I had a Cheetah v1. The chassis is no different than the v2 or J3 Speed. Biggest downfall IMO is the rear pivot ball suspension. It gets loose and the truck drives poorly because the hubs and balls and sockets wear out, and the turnbuckles break.

I have wanted to get one of these for awhile, but right when I was about to buy it, I decided to get a 1/8 race buggy instead. Still on my list of rc's to get!
Try the vkar bison 120Amp version is even cheaper than JLB
From the looks of it the bison and dhk maximus/zombie end up having some issues with the front hinge pin brace. A person could always make their own and I think it would vastly improve it, but unless the companies fix that issue I'm sure they will get some hate. Now as far as rtr rcs go most electronics arr somewhat sketchy. A descent and cheap fs gt3c or rc4 gs radio n receiver help and you can get 60 and 120 amp hobbywing programmable escs for under 20 usd.. So the only thing left is a motor. Electronics don't bother me but serious core flaws def do.

@Kevin Talbot i wish you would do a video over your RC battery's and collection and where you go to get batteries. I too RC dont have as many cool trucks as you but im constantly looking for more Lipo's wheres the best place to get them ? and could you do in depth with their weights ? lithium polymer has weight per MaH , alot of those shoddy 18650's for vaping marked 3500 MaH are like 1250 mah rebaddged and i suspect some shoddy lipos from chinesums decendants may also. Would be great to see tests of battery capacity also .

I had a v1 cheetah, it's same chassis as your v2 or the J3 Speed. IMO the biggest weak point is the rear pivot ball suspension system. That gives too much play in the rear end when it starts to wear, everything gets all wiggly and loose and that makes for a poor handling RC at those speeds after awhile.
i’m kinda new to rc’s and i’m wanting to get one of these, would you have any recommendations to avoid that problem? maybe replace anything right off the bat?

I see that the Chinese have make very huge progress in the quality of 1/8 and 1/10 rc cars, especially in 1/8 they have done it very perfect. I say that because I have the VRX 2E 1/8 electric buggy 4s a Chinese brand with their own factory and I must say is very good. Of course all the rc cars broke or bend when you make jumps, but if you drive them in a race or in a track they can take many hits and survive. The only downside is the electronics they are very cheap and get hot easily and cut speed if you drive them hard or else they are very strong as vehicles. So thumps up to these Chinese brands like this in the video. I like because you test a chinese rc like that, it's good for the people to see how good quality has the Chinese now.

Looks like a good strong starter for my son before i give him his xmaxx, without even watching you drive it. I ALWAYS ALWAYS BREAK the plastic ones so The metal shock towers alone are sweet.

Yeah do the 4s version. places to run it... BMX track, skate park and the golf course. You should also drag it against the e revo, the arma and the hobao, maybe the Xmaxx. I have the 120A version, love it. Only thing i have upgraded was installing a faster steering servo. Bought it last christmas for under 200 euros, nothing can ever beat that price to fun ratio =)

aside from a few things this truck can be mistaken for an E Revo. except for the fact that Traxxas doesn't need aluminum to make their stuff last

i have the 120 A version and its a BEAST. also have the traxxas e-revo, arrma typhon 3 and 6 s... they are all FUN as hell. but there is something extra fun with the JLB. might be because its my first RC car. but the madness in it is so awesome :D nice video man

OoB, the 4s version is completely nuts. The arms are a bit brittle when jumping, but the chassis can take it. Make sure you have the lower brace or it'll fold up pretty quick.
I'd like to see it at the bmx track. Looks fast and stable enough you could land some nice jumps with it.

It’s $275! That’s a lot of money. I think I will just keep my 2007 Nikko Ford F-150. It’s in sad shape, but it works great. I bought a supersonic truck from Walmart for $150 and not to long after owning it the gears were destroyed in the gearbox.

Don’t get the 4s version. Put in a Hobbywing MAX-8 esc and 2200 or 2650kv motor in it and run it on 6s!!! Swap the tires with the erevo! Thicken up the shock oil a bit.
Aside from that, how’s the part availability? As both you and I know, that’s important!

Please get the 4s, and this thing is a bad ass! seem to need heavier shock oil. Im pretty sure the skate park is gonna kill this thing although i seen this take some hits, let's see how many jumps it can take, the only bad thing is when you break something i think parts are only found overseas.
