Thank you So Much for Sharing ❤ My friend in the Navy got his House 🏠 in Chula Vista in 1987. Two Bedroom and I heard they now Moved in TEMECULA.
@1:50 Almost brought me to tears seeing Cafe Ole and Shakey's pizza! Those two restaurants were the destination on Friday nights! just wonderful... I have photo's of me and my family standing in front of Shakey's...
Wow! Do you still live in Southern Calofornia? I still live in San Diego.. been here since 1980.
Me too.
Oh my God, Big Bear and Jimmy's...I remember it all. THANK YOU for this video....🥰
@2:48 Wonderful KMART! There was no other place to shop then and across the street all the delicious restaurants to visit! So appreciative of your foresight to capture and preserve Chula Vista!!! God Bless †
Yeah, so much has changed
Hometown of my youth, very cool - thanks for posting.
This seriously transported me back in time. My grandma use to live across the street from that church at 1:23. You literally filmed this right in front of her house. ( Mind blown )
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video..I grew up on Fst and Broadway early 80s
"Trailer Villa"
Thank you for the nostalgic memories
That McDonald's on Third Ave and Naples had an awesome outdoor playground. I've never known of another McDonald's around CV that had one like that.
Yes, it was like a park.
The complete mcdonaldland playground with all the caricters hambugler grimace the professor mayor mccheese officer Bic Mac the apple pie tree......
This was the world's first ever McDonald's playland
It was the first and probably the only one in all of McDonaldland.
An incredible time machine! I remember all of this like it was yesterday. CV was the city of my birth and the city I most frequented when not home in National City!
so many Gems in this one... my early years stomping grounds around 3rd and Palomar
THANK YOU for saving these!! PRICELESS
Incredible, the car wash and 7 11 at 2:07 are still there, and the bank and Jack in the box at 2:40 are too.
This is really amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Now this is quality footage of neighborhoods, not like others who speed up the video!!! Thanks for slow quality videos. Too bad our youth have destroyed C.V. not to mention the families, moms & dads, with drug's, gangs, but who am i judge!!

Dang this is some good footage. My uncle has owned los taquitos for over 30 years I lived on the house right next to it for most of my childhood. Grew up in the ghetto and I loved it 🙏🏽

I ate a Los Taquitos all the time in the 90's while walking past on my way to my grandma's house on the same street by fourth ave. I loved the hamburger and fries.
I wanted to see Los Taquitos when you were filming the church. 😂
Yeah
Marquez auto is still there lol
Same
I stay on 3rd and L. This was very dope to see
Is the 99cent Chinese still next to vons?
I used to live at Country Club Village - Apartment complex right behind Longs/Vons at 3rd and L streets in 1986-87!
My dad bought TVs from KMART back in the early 2000s before its closure. Today is known as Third and Moss Shopping center, as of 2024 one of its stores will eventually close.

We lived across the street from KMART on 3rd and Moss in 1988. During the time they were constructing the Psychiatric Building. Wow how things have changed over the years!
I lived in Chula Vista during my childhood for a couple of years. I started to live in the area a couple of years ago seeing now that 99 cents store are closing and other new business opening in that location.
I’d love to go back to those days when houses didn’t average over $700k and a bag chips weren’t $5.
At 3:17 those trees are the play area at McDonald's. I remember as a kid watching them use cranes to plant mature trees there.
I worked at that Shakeys from 1990-92. Great memories. I also saw a quick glimmer of the Mexican restaurant next to it- Cafe Ole. Now gone. Senior citizens center now sits there, and that terrible school behind it.
Thank you!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
My parents used to shop at that Big Bear every weekend for groceries. My mom would would go to the K-Mart for blue-light specials and sometimes she would buy my brother and I a torpedo sandwich with an Icee. The car wash belonged to a neighbors’ father.

@@GCast Thank you. I will check it out...
The shots of K and Broadway man. Fuck.
1:50 I have so many childhood memories of going to have dinner with my parents as a little girl at Cafe Ole. It was the best Mexican-American food I've ever had.

3:01 My neighbor friend's family had an uncle that lived in those little cottages. In fact it's the one right up front there, I think.
@2:30 that's K street, and I drove by that Marquez Body Shop the other day and it looks like they finally closed their doors 2020...:(
I think that Jeromes became Fed Mart.
It became MAAC project
Wasn’t it Handyman? Or was that elsewhere?
@@eddiefriend2546 Handyman was a block North behind Burger King.
Jerome's moved in around 1978. A lot of memories in the Castle Park area.
Cafe ole!
It was on Broadway in the eighties. Entire departments working for Rohr used to enjoy the flying saucers lol! Went there most days for lunch.
I worked at Big 🐻 Bear in the 70s
0:53 that is a Mexican food place and I go eat there with my friends
Hard to believe that i live there now
We lived in Chula Vista for many years. We were members of Otay Baptist Church.
My family were regulars at Cafe Olé
My family as well
wow
Otay,3rd ave,Broadway Ave cool. As a kid I was caught shoplifting at the Big Bear on 3rd Ave.😂
Glad you liked it, I have a longer version on my other channel: ua-cam.com/video/0jqo5d9Ca2U/v-deo.html
That McDonald's had the best and complete mcdonaldland playground in San Diego all the caricters, hambugler grimace, the professor, mayor mccheese, captain coock, the apple pie tree, officer Bic Mac,
This was the world's first ever McDonald's playland
Grimace was a jail bar set up right?
What a time warp. I'm sitting here in the Northeast of the US on furniture I bought at that Jerome's over 30 years ago.
Crazy, I have a longer version on my channel: ua-cam.com/video/0jqo5d9Ca2U/v-deo.html
Use to go with the family to shakee's. The pizza tasted great, back then.
I wish I was born in these times 😿
What year??????
Late 1970's-the cars are the giveaway.
Shakey's played black and white silent films while you ate pizza with your family. It was entertaining. Laurel & Hardy films, etc.

Best Shit Ever............................I grew up there with a million adventures..............................73
I remember seeing a VCV guy beating a poor Otay boy rite there on k st back in 79
There was a VCV in 79?
@@glizzyhendrix they were there in 82, so probably.
I’ve been watching a couple of these videos and after reading the comments, I’m pretty sure I may have known you or at least gone to school with you. Let me know. Wesley King Castle Park High, Montgomery High, and yea…..Palomar High, yes I was …..insert here.
Montgomery 1990. Grew up on Firethorn, before that Loma Lane CV 👊🏽
Was this in the 70s or early 80s? I’m trying to figure out by looking at the cars. Very cool 😎!!!
This was in the 70s
@@GCast Are you sure? I was thinking 80 or 81.
@@GCastIt’s from the 1980s. At 2:54 in the video, a 1983 Thunderbird appears
