Attracting and Feeding Pollinators in Warm-Season Lawns

  • Research from the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture suggests that a grassroots movement could go a long way towards improving the outlook for pollinators.
    Over the course of two years, Michelle Wisdom, a Graduate Research Assistant with the Horticulture Department, tested two systems to turn warm-season lawns into pollinator-friendly habitats:
    (1) Incorporating early-spring bulbs.
    (2) Adding flowering perennials like white clover.
    Researchers found that both systems showed promise for providing long-term pollinator forage. Watch the video for more info!

    Performing the same test to see how each fare in partial and full shade environments would be interesting.
