Filtration in cooling towers

Cooling towers are structures designed to lower the temperature of water. The main use of towers will be to cool the hot water coming from the system to a temperature below the ambient temperature (in the case of wet towers).
The water in these towers has suspended solids that come both from the industrial system for which the cooling water is used (such as iron foundries, paper mills, engine cooling, wood industry) and from particles coming from outside in open systems (such as environmental dust, pollen, or leaves). The system's own pipes can also release particles due to accumulation or wear. All of these suspended particles need to be removed as much as possible to avoid heat exchange problems, and to avoid supports for potential bacterial growth.
