    Thanks Dave! What a great career choice w/many accomplishments. I'm loving it and trying to prevent myself from going to deep with my outboard gear until I work on my solo stuff I've been planning for. This is "great" gear review for us sir. I've already made some 2024 selections that's been in several "WISH" lists since 2022. Bravo

    Thanks for sharing, I've been enjoying your videos. In the last year my plans of outfitting a comprehensive rehearsal space have morphed into outfitting _that_ into a private recording studio. I had already spent the previous 5 years buying instruments; a truly incredible collection of guitar and bass amps, a bunch of guitars (mostly tailored to my taste but still comprehensive enough for a studio) including among them several pre-CBS and "L-series" (late 63-early 65 before the CBS changes were implemented) Fender Jaguars and a pre-CBS 1961 Strat) and a couple good basses, drums, synths, drum machines, PA etc. Now in the last year I have been buying recording equipment. My plan being to purchase the foundation/majority of the gear I'll need and then to pick and/or build and move into the studio so that once I do, it's "turn key" and ready to go. In just the last year I've already bought enough gear to outfit a quality project studio and then some. Recently - thanks to your videos - I got turned onto and purchased a bunch of Audio-Scape stuff. Recently acquiring a pair or 76F's, the AS78 (FANTASTIC piece of gear) and the 260VU. With plans to buy their "LA2A," Their spring reverb, "LA3A," and their "Stay Level." You've likely heard but they too are coming out with their own "Fairchild" 670 and it looks pretty good albeit it understandably won't be cheap. Right now I'm in the midst of outfitting my 500 series stuff and my ost recent acquisitions in the last 2 months up to the current day have been some extra pre-amp flavors (312's, 1073's, SSL SiX channels, Shadow Hills Mono Gammas) with a big focus on EQ's, in particular the Avedis Audio stuff. I bought a quad of their e27's and a pair of their e12g 12 band EQ's. I also got the SSL 611EQ and a pair of Maag EQ4's.
    In the coming weeks I'm going to get some 500 series effects units. Initially I was focused in on the AMS Neve that you have before I got really intrigued by the Meris 500 series units, the M7 reverb and their Hedra pitch shifter/delay. Their prices are great at $550 new but then I realized, you'll need 2 of each for stereo and that kind made me think again about the Neve.
    Does the AMS Neve 500 series Reverb have any pitch shift and delay algorithms? It's a shame Eventide no longer produces their DDL-500 delay. That unit looks fantastic and the price was great but you rarely ever see them come up used. The JHS 500 series stuff was also excellent and unfortunately no longer being produced.

    • @MixingMusicAnalog
      @MixingMusicAnalog  4 місяці тому

      Sounds like a great studio you are building. Good luck with everything! The AMS has only 1 delay patch I think and a limited amount of reverbs. These days I find myself using plugins more for reverb than the AMS because its easier and sounds just as good.

    Nice! What made you lean toward the Audio-Scape La-2a over the V-comp for vocals? I ordered a La-2a from them, looking into a v comp in the future.

    Hey Dave any chance you'll do a review of the new Audient ORIA? Not necessarily for the ATMOS features but for the built-in room correction. Would be interesting to compare it to your Trinnov as a budget option.

    • @MixingMusicAnalog
      @MixingMusicAnalog  4 місяці тому

      I doubt it. They use Reference Id / sonar works room correction, which I have already tried prior to the Trinnov. I am sure you saw that video where I compared the 2. There is no software product that does all that the Trinnov does, it just doesn't. That interface looks very cool if you are getting into Atmos because it's very affordable. Personally, I won't be going atmos anytime soon.

    • @JasonBuffin
      @JasonBuffin 4 місяці тому

      @@MixingMusicAnalog You're right. I remember your video on Sound ID Reference. I didn't remember if the software version had time alignment or not but seems like it does. ATMOS still seems like a novelty at this point. Labels require it but even with an "affordable" controller like the Audient it's still thousands to invest for the home producer.

  • @JasonBuffin
    @JasonBuffin 4 місяці тому

    Interesting to see you've dropped the UF8. Are you now just doing single fader automation when you need it? That's how I go about it but I know you were using the UF8 on the ngleveler before. Would love to have an update on how you're using the nglevel today now that you've had it a while. Seems like you have it on every channel now? 2023, I locked down my stereo bus. Similar to yours with some different pieces. I would really like to get a drum bus EQ but haven't chosen which one yet. Then I want to lock in some lead vocal gear. Being hybrid, I like to just run the busses through hardware for the most part and process individual tracks ITB. I use the SSL SiX to sum the busses back to stereo.

    • @MixingMusicAnalog
      @MixingMusicAnalog  4 місяці тому

      Yes, just using the 1 fader for the automation. I also do some automation with the trackball. It depends on what I am trying to automate. I am still feeling out the best way to use the NG-Leveler for automation. It's a little "clunky" for sure but it does work and I am starting to get used to it. Its a very affordable way to add automation to my console even if its not perfect. I wish someone would develop a product like this but add/fix some of the issues the NG-Leveler has. No company make such a device, so this is what we have.
      I will eventually do an update video once I get a little more comfortable with it

    I see that all those wrapped cables on the floor and I wonder how many of those could be removed with that new Harrison console that's out? Since it has its own AD/DA, I figure it would reduce bundles like that quite a bit - not that cable reduction in itself is a reason to buy a console; more like a bonus feature.

    • @MixingMusicAnalog
      @MixingMusicAnalog  4 місяці тому

      Maybe, but that console is $95,000. I'll stay with the bundle of cables and save $50K.
