  • Hi handsome, Luneye the spreadsheet guy coming at you live once again. This time we are talking about the hard data of the different activities in BDO and answering the question of how much silver we are actually making.
I tried to improve my delivery and cadence, so I hope the listening experience is better than before. I also hope there isn't too much text floating around, so feel free to pause the video at any time. ,
Of course they had to change the spots the same day I release this ._.

First of all, huge congrats on all the interactions and everything recently.
From a new player perspective I think lifeskilling is so looked down upon only because it’s the minority of players. Similar to red players, it doesn’t get enough love but should totally be a viable option that is atleast someone competitive market wise.

Thank you so much! It really means the world to me to see so much positivity around my content.
I do agree that lifeskills are in a similar boat to red players in the way that they have been largely forgotten by PA. Red players are at least a vocal minority though, since they are usually old players that picked the game up because of it's open world PvP promise, but have slowly lost that version of the game over time.
To be fair, lifeskills are suffering more from just overall stagnation than outright being removed and heavily disincetivized like red players are, but they also produce less frustration than red players do since the fun of a lifeskiller doesn't come at the cost of the fun of other players.

I do a sweaty hour of herbs @ Behr everyday. Been tracking market value of items at the time I listed them (pencil and paper for roughly the last two months) and I am averaging (pre tax) 1.15 B @ 2k (T5 Hog). Agris would add about 70m if you need to burn some (this is a rough estimate as I do not use agris very often and it seems to mainly increase the wild grass drop numbers and the trash herbs). This number does not include fairy wings or the other drops you exchange for hards (or contribution) or make into caphras. This number also does not include the junk herbs or the yellow dust that are collecting in my container at Behr (I sell wild grass, everlasting herbs, sharps, fruits, gems) I keep the caphras but they are included in sell number.
Herbs vary WILDLY day to day with my worst day being 680k and my best being 1.89 B.
Good mini game procs are a large part of this variance, getting max caphras, gems, sharps or everlasting from the mini game vs not getting them is huge.
My dirt patch tracking isn't as good but I would say I average 4 patches per day, this high average is due to the mini game. I get a 20 dirt patch proc about every two weeks. I always keep more than 20 keys in my inventory because looting 20 dirts - chests in the time allocated is very difficult and there is no chance of getting them all if I have to summon a maid. Market price variation plays a modest role in these numbers but I really can't even begin to estimate how much.
People sleep on Behr herbs and I would prefer we keep it that way. :P

Thank you for long and insightful comment!
I did behr gathering before they merged all the fruits, thought it kinda died since then. I love gathering for meat myself, started focusing hard on cooking recently, so most of the things I gather I get ingredients from. Got to the point where I want to give myself outlandish goals to maybe hit them one day.
It's also really nice to share your secrets, even if behr herbs have been known about for years now, it's still rare to see gatherers, or lifeskillers in general, to talk about their activities, since that will only make them less money than if they kept it to themselves.
      Good luck in your gathering!

Farming for sure more money if you consider byproduct exchange. I think training is more, but needs setup meaning event. You train horses and exchange all of them when event hits.

Thank you for the comment, nice to see you again!
I think Summer's farming spreadsheet includes the byproduct exchange in the total money? I took it from the highest profit column, and it said "stonetail fodder" which is what you use the byproduct for. I could be wrong though.
Is the event better or worse than the fishing events we get every now and then?

    Nice Video Series!
I agree that Lifeskills not necessariely needs to do more money, i am more a fan of renewing the Content a bit.
Like we had it in Terms of Minigames for Gathering, but i also think that some Lifeskills needs to get a little decoupled from the Marketplace , which are primarily Alchemy and Cooking. (just buff Imperial Delivery)
For Trading i dont have high hopes anymore, i really just think *make a Impersonation of Bartering on Land* and thats basically it, but if you count in Crate Trading thats a whole other Story, since this is so hard to balance in the right spot, because you need to adjust Market price/availability Workers Nodes/Skills CP Cost effectivness.... the List goes on.
Gear Progression is another Point that most endgame Lifeskillers struggle with, because its basically after Tet manos Acc/Pen Tools+Clothes...get a PO for Geranoa/Manos at Pen and...Good luck i guess?
Again nice Series, keep up the good Work!
BTW dont listen to Blue he is a bad Lifeskiller, cant even make Pen Manos Hunter Clothes KEKW

Thank you so much for the comment!
I would even go as far as to say that we need new content for lifeskills. We have been gathering Balenos foxes and Valencia lions for how long now? All we really got was a new sniper hunting spot and the minigames, which are cool, but they're mostly a QoL update, since they just make gathering faster. The other lifeskill items added are generally not worth anymore.
I am not the biggest fan making trading into just land barter. I think the lifeskill would lose its originality. I think leaning further into crates could be a fine idea. Alternatively, you could make it connected with the other lifeskills again, kinda like it used to be with the special trade goods found in gathering and coins from grinding, but that would require a lot of work.
Yeah, gear progression is really bad. You're either waiting for months to win your pen geranoa lottery, or you're overpaying to get tet manos. This is again a sign of general stagnation, since there have been no updates to lifeskill gear for like 4 years now. Either give lifeskill gear another tier, kinda like SO that grinders have, or unlock more slots, for example lifeskill-specific weapons could be interesting. With those weapons, you could also make some kind of a PvE/lifeskill zone, akin to what Navarn Steppe or Narcion are, you could balance the content around these new lifeskill weapons and add challenge to lifeskills. Would be a lot of work to implement, but I think it would be absolutely awesome to see.
I will talk about these ideas and some more in the third part of this series, since lifeskills might be decent money, but they are the definition of stagnation.
      I can't make Pen clothes either :(

      @@Luneyebdo Thanks for response!
      Lifeskilling Weapons sounds great!
I also the other day discusses together with Teddy about Tools for Lifeskills that are missing those at the moment, maybe not to even push Mastery even further, which would do no good to all who allready have 2k, but with neat other helpfull Additions to effects like Lifeskill EXP etc...
      Cheers

    • @Luneyebdo
      @Luneyebdo  26 днів тому +1

Absolutely no problem at all, I love talking with people here!
I don't know that much about Teddy, other than that he got me to click my manos clothes xd
I think we really should start considering increasing the mastery cap. Kinda rich coming from me since I don't have 2k mastery in basically any lifeskill, but I think it would be fair to the people who invested their time and money into lifeskills and make the gathering gear economy much better as well. I think you could have lifeskill tools that don't just increase mastery or exp either.
They could do something like artifacts, so imagine multiple tools, where some have their regular stat increases, but then you get like a hunting tool that will increase the number of boss type mobs, a farming tool that would give you a chance to gather and breed crops at the same time, a fishing tool that would increase the rate of rare fish at the cost of slower fishing speed and vice versa, a cooking tool that would increase your cooking speed, but because you're less careful, you have a chance to fail your recipe. If you had good enough processing and alchemy, maybe you could get a tool that would let you transmute iron into gold or some other rare materials, etc.
These are all just from the top of my head, I am sure that you would be able to find so many better ideas than me.

I think that life skills shuld made like a 20% more money if they are active. But I think the main problem is that if you are a pver you have help in progresion like 2 pen acc guaranteed pen boss and more, so maybe have more progression like maybe a way to garantee 1 pen clothes and 1 pen tool, to make the make money a litel bit better for the new lifeskillers. I think that could made some margen to profit at least in the early when you have low mastrey and low level.

for lifeskillers we get 2 floramos accessories which are equivalent to tri mans accessories. i dont agree with your idea of increasing lower mastery profit because the only way you could do that without indirectly buffing the profits of the endgame lifeskillers would be increasing the base amount you get from lifeskilling while keeping the mastery 2000 benefits the same ie. hunting bonus starting at extra drop rate equivalent of mastery 500 while mastery 2000 would stay the same drop rate. also the point of the family life skill update is to make it easier to level up anyways do by rewarding you for being low mastery it would go counter to their approach. i’m all for more free manos accessories because in my honest opinion the materials required to make them (magical shards) is crazy and kind of forces you to choose life skill or pve

    • @Luneyebdo
      @Luneyebdo  25 днів тому

There actually already exist some forms of "low mastery buffs" that don't effect endgame. Season gathering for example.
Also, I proposed this idea in a different comment, but I think we are long overdue for some sort of "endgame lifeskill" spots. Imagine some sort of Narcion/Navarn Steppe-like zone that you can only enter at like 1800 mastery, that would drop new items you could make recipes from if you had that mastery.
Not only would you give endgame lifeskillers something new to do and new ones something to aspire towards, but you would also fix the biggest problem of lifeskills, which is that no matter what mastery you are, you're still doing basically the same thing, just a bit better than you were before.

Maybe there should be other perks to lifeskills instead of silver? Eg. crafting and using your own elixirs yields double the duration and 10% improved effectiveness. Horse trainers can force-learn/train a horse to learn that damn s:sideways skill at the cost of afk-training 24hrs, instead of swiping for it. Cooking can unlock a perma-cooking station that grants -6 sec cooking time reduction. And for the love of game-dev-logic, where is the missing extra manos tool equivalent for Alchemy and Cooking? Also they can buff lifeskilling just with one-click: UNDO all the debuffs it had over 5 years, including bartering... day 1 bartering was fun, no it's just a quest to unlock the 60$ pearl shop skin and then anchor it was the nearest wharf -_- At the end of the day. everybody spends time BDO, but to catch up on 5 years of grinding, lifeskill needs a buff, else other MMORPG that are focusing on lifeskills will poach the whales...
yes, the biggest whales in BDO do lifeskills, else they would be poor compared to the tuvala timmy :P

      Thank you for the comment!
I think giving them benefits like that would only serve to cement lifeskills as a side-activity. There would be no reason to make elixirs if you're not going to use them, for example.
Yes, we should get manos cooking/alchemy tool. There are very few, if any, MMOs that have as deep lifeskills as BDO has, will see if that ever changes.

some life skill certainly need a buff, for example fishing with rod is f dead.
but i think it's not right to expect to get as much silver from life skills as from grinding mobs, i don't want to see a mint picker meta in bdo.

I don't think it's right either, at least not with the current state of lifeskills. I put where I think all activities should sit in my opinion near the end of the video.
Mint picker meta would be fun to see for a week, imagine all the 750gs gigagrinders being forced to pick up a magic hoe xd

100% life skills should make more money, I cant tell you the last time any of my life skill have made any money it all just goes into storage. I can spend 8-10 hours afk fishing and only trade for 30mill! at some point you have to think about your electric bill and 30m isn't shit vs an 80$ electric bill. The same amount of time trying to Train 4 horses with a wagon only to get lvl 12 on them after 8-10 hours is beyond bs when you have 1200+ mastery

    • @Luneyebdo
      @Luneyebdo  2 дні тому

Well, to be fair, even if it goes into storage it still has a value, you just don't see it in liquid silver.
Yes, fishing and horses are not worth the electricity I agree.
