    I use a hand crank trammel compost sifter. I sifted 20 gallons of castings in 14 minutes through .25 inch screen. Easy to build. Not very expensive. You should try one.

    I am trying to put aside enough to buy the sifters. It’s difficult on such a fix3d income. Hwr, on the bright side, the bin I started from the 2lbs red wigglers I bought from you in late June, 2022, are going like gangbusters! I checked in/fed the worms yesterday. There are worms of all ages from adults to juveniles to babies, & even cocoons! I used some castings from that bin to set out my cold garden crop of collards & broccoli. 😊

    I live in SC and want to raise fishing size worms for myself and family for bream fishing. My redworms just seem to stay to small but recently started trying to fatten them----not sure yet if I can get them fatter yet? Which worm would you suggest that could still be a composting worm that also are not picky about temperature? I like your set-up, just recently found you and Subscribed. Thanks

    You mention allowing the castings to 'dry out' before using the sifter, how do you do the drying out? FYI, I love your videos and ordered and received 2000 reds from you. they said to tell you hi.

    • @MemesWorms
      @MemesWorms  Рік тому

      Hi Larry. Let them dry some by not adding any water or keeping anything over them that will cause condensation. Not dry to much. Worms do need moisture to breath.

    Hello and thank you for all your work showing and teaching others. I don't see anybody selling "American Night Crawlers" I don't know why, do you have any theory why no one is listing and selling the common American Night Crawler.

    • @TheTickpicker1
      @TheTickpicker1 2 роки тому +1

      @@MemesWorms The best I can find is Lumbricus terrestris and the best descriptor is they have a flatter rounded tail sort of like a beaver tail, and a European worm has a longer tapered tail. Supposedly that's the main difference from a European nightcrawler. They are all over the lawns around here after a heavy rain. Do you think the two worms are actually the same worm just called by different names. Thank you for being so open with what you teach I am a new subscriber and setting up my first worm bin.

      @Hawk Alougee that would be a Canadian Nightcrawler I believe. If so, you can find them up north and Canada too. Too hot in the south to grow unless you have a refrigerated space.

      You can always change out the size wire. Not really that hard. The design of these are very simple and light weight. Very easy on the arms, hands and back.

    • @articmars1
      @articmars1 Рік тому

      @@MemesWorms they look great. But when i tried to find a smaller wire i couldnt find it. So i had to get one premade for miners. The kind they use over a 5 gallon bucket. Its not the best solution and it takes forever. And its hard on the back. But it was all i could find in a pinch. Will your carpenter customize a set with the smaller wire? I am really interested in a better way than i have now. I am disabled and need something that is easier on the body than what i have now. I had to let the bins fill to capacity as far as population goes because i just cant do more than 4 bins without getting stick in the bed for two days until the swelling in back goes down.

    • @MemesWorms
      @MemesWorms  Рік тому

      The smallest we use is 1\8" wire. It will catch most of the cocoons and babies. What few get through you could let sit to hatch for about a month and then bait out any that hatched.
