Dr Sabir Afaqi had written a masterpiece history of Kashmir which is a must read. Ranjit Singh had annexed Poonch to Lahore judiciary. In old Poonch revenue records people of Poonch were registered as tenants of Raja of Poonch.

Poonch was once part of Abisara region now Jhelum Valley range ruled by Khakha Rajas of Muzaffarabad/Uri. Khakhas used to travel from Jhelum Valley to Uri to Mahoora to Bhedi/Haveli to Poonch town.
