District poonch is situated at northwest, along with line of control, in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir
District headquarter is also known as Poonch Town
and its distance from Major city of Jammu is around 235 kms
Pir panjal mountain range which separates Jammu and Kashmir region, on southern slopes of pir panjal in mountains and valley lies this beautiful and amazing place ,Poonch.
In ancient times this place was known as palatsya nagar
as per ancient texts , Maharishi Palatsya, Who was grand father of Ravana ,
spent his life there meditating so this place got its name as playsya nagar.
Poonch District has many historical and beautiful places and it has lot of potential in tourism sector
there tourist attractions are quite famous in surrounding areas and some of them attracts tourists from neighboring states as well as other parts of the country also visit there.
some of these attractions are
Pir ki Gali which lies on mughal Road, the highest point on road there.
its located at 11400 ft above sea level surrounded by snow clad mountains and pastures below.
Mughal road starts from Bufliaz region in poonch and this road connects poonch with Shopian district in Kashmir Valley.
Just ahead of bufliaz , off from the road theres another beautiful place known as noorie chamb waterfall
This was route for mughal emperiors snd they used to pass through this route ,enjoy there at waterfall and their resting place was in chandimal where they had a sarai
and this waterfall got its name after beloved queen of experior Jehangir, Noorjahan
Just few kms from poonch town there are two beautiful places of poonch known as Saawjian and mandi loran
Both these places are surrounded by beautiful mountains of Pir panjal range.
Poonch is also known as Valley of seven lakes as well as The city of Saints.
There are many religeous places for piligrimage also for different communitirs and religeon.
Most Famous ones are
Ziyarat sai miran sahin
Baba Budda Amarnath
Gurudwara Nangali Sahib

Poonch rajouri chenab some part of reasi are different. Stop labelling us. Jammu is term given preference by dogra kings. And they annexed kashmir region in 19th century. Jammu means udhmpur kathia and samba. Dogras aren't pahairs . Hot regions don't suit with temperate areas. Poonch is poonch not Jammu. Where ur forethers live.jammu came into existence in 900 century and script of kashmir before 9th century mentions poonch a part of kashmir region. Duuggar 😀😀. During mughals poonch and rajouri was one province and Jammu was another. Poonch was annexed by dogras in 19th century

We used to go to Mendhar( from jammu to Rajori to BG to mendhar ) and visit Poonch some time. This was in 1979-80 so some 40 years back. I remember still the fort.. the carpet at fort is worn out and that was bcos of the salute/march from the solders. There is a airfield and there used to be a unused Small Aircraft parked just for show and was an attraction. Not sure if it exists now. All these memories are still vivid in me. Loved the place and also the food/roads from BG till Poonch. Also we trekked once from Mendhar to BG on foot in mountains . I also remember Indian Army Soldiers going to Srinagar on foot from Poonch via peer panjal range , that was part of the mock exercise . What good days those were, Maybe some day i will visit again. But great video and narration. Thank you for sharing.

@@Thetravelerfromjammu Well you can visit the nearby villages to experience their way of living. You can also visit DKG (famous tourist spot). Surankote - Bhimber Gali highway is one of the most beautiful for me. Noori Chamb top, Mughal road and some of shrines and temples are few more attractions.
There are lot of more places but i have never been to them so sorry for being limited to these ones .
