For the people asking about the beat/strumming. Its just playing the "and" beats insted of the 1, 2 , 3 , 4. So a down strum on each "and" then muting the strings on the other beats. I know this from playing reggae on guitar. Hope that made sence haha

Number of ways to get the 'stab', clean sound. First off, strum, then ease up the pressure on the left fingers. It will sound ruddy awful at first with some strings buzzing. With a little practice, it gets nice and stabby. Next up, have you tried palm muting?. I'm a ukulele newbie, but found that my guitar chop'n'stab rhythm stuff transferred quite well. My pinkie may as well be vestigial for all the use it is in muting. I tried, but fell back on what I know from skanking along on 6 strings.

Hi Aldrine. I have a question for you. I have a cheap beginner ukulele and am wondering about getting new strings. It currently has d'Addio strings and want to get better ones. Which do you recommend? Your lessons are really helping me learn a lot out of the uke. Thanks

Incase this helps anyone help me out with this, I think part of my problem is that when I let go of my pinky mute the strings ring out and it kind've makes a double noise, instead of the notes only ringing out on the downstroke. This song might be above my skill level but I figure the only way to get better is to play songs that are difficult for me...how do you improve pinky mutes?

I'm struggling with the strumming, I just can't get it to sound like the way Aldrine is playing it. I'm getting super frustrated but I'm not willing to give up...I've been doing it suuuuper slow and trying to build speed but it just sounds sloppy and jumbled...Does anyone have any tips or maybe another song that is good practice for reggae style strumming?
Put on youtube ''How to play reggae music'' you can get a lot of tips there. Isn't easy on the benning but with practice you can get it.
