Wow wow and wow....what a great video....the Canyon ....our holy holy land brought home to us all....Thank you so much for this take...am 72 and pretty much done but not in my mind....brought tears to my eyes twice....ever great.
Awe...thank you. I’m so glad you could come along vicariously with us. It’s comments like this that make me want to continue filming and bringing these trips to folks who may not be able to get out there themselves anymore. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Your positive, soothing voice and the beauty you capture often helps me drift off to sleep... but not this time! Day four had me on the wide eyed and wishing
Thank you for this very informative video, it helps me to prepare for this trip next month. Also thank you for not adding music to the video, so we can hear the canyon instead.
WOW. I'D HAVE TO DO THAT MANY MOONS AGO. KUDOS TO YOU TWO FOR THE JOURNEY AND THE TRAVEL LOG. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY AS OUR CREATOR DOES FANTASTIC WORKS OF ART FOR US TO ENJOY. THANKS AGAIN.
Thank you so much for the awesome video of your hike. I am 74 years old now but I made that hike in April 1973, nearly 50 years ago, with a friend whose goal it was to hike the entire length if three Grand Canyon below the rim
Fat fingers.... We took 8 days, continuing on the Tonto over to Indian Gardens and up the Bright Angel. I have slides (!) of our trip, but your high definition video brought back fond memories of our amazing adventure. Thanks, again!
Catherine your a brave lady to do all the things you do. Your the best at making these outdoor videos. Plus it's a pleasure to listen to you speak. Young lady you have lots of talent. # 1
the meal of spinach noodles, sun dried tomatoes -olive oil and parm cheese looks delicious 😋 what a great alternative to some of the backpacking foods.
What amazing scenery. Thank you for taking us along on this wonderful journey. The photography is really excellent. Thanks again for reminding us of the beauty of this world that negates so much of that ugliness that seems to keep going on and on.
Living in Suburbia can be a hard cross to bare. Keeping preaching that gospel of nature and live the life you want to live. Woman and Man need wilderness and wildness.
Really loving your productions. I did a part of this route several years ago. It was down New Hance to the rapids, stayed in the creek area below Horseshoe Mesa, stayed on Mesa then hiked out. On the Mesa day, we explored the cave and all of the surrounding historical items. Funny, your friend has more modern cook techniques with the freeze dried meals and the jetboil. I switched to those years ago and love them. Before, I had the same rig you had.
Wow....beautiful scenery and you really showed the intensity of hiking there. Can't imagine that day of hiking in 40 mph wind gusts! Enjoy your videos.
What an amazingly beautiful place you were in. Sometimes the toughest parts of a hike lend to the best stories and memories. You did an awesome job on those sketchy sections. You should be super proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Thank you so much Mike! Hope the trails are smoother for you on your upcoming PCT thru-hike. We will never forget this trip!! It was one for the books for sure.
Awesome! Nothing better than hiking, backpacking and camping outdoors. Great video, can't wait to get back to hiking after my injuries. Nice to see the outdoors.
when i discovered your videos in the truck camper, i was hooked. Now i see this hike of you and your niece. I don't have the right words, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! you ladies have my ultimate admiration. you ladies have shown me a landscape beyond words. you have been where only, only a very select few will ever witness first hand. amazing trail skills. just blew me away. can't say thank you enough!!
Amazing, ladies you do all us ladies proud. So beautiful as usual. Looking forward to seeing all your back adventures and the new ones ahead. Godspeed and carry on....
Great video. I love your descriptions of the challenges. You gals are BEASTS! 4 L of water!!!! Wow. I hope to hike that section one day with my friends and appreciate the intel this video has supplied. Thank you for sharing.
Wow what you guys do here makes the rock climbing walls in gyms look like child’s play. What an intense journey. It’s a beautiful part of the earth. I could never do that trail with my bad knees. I can only do trails that I can use my poles to help lift my weight. But one day I’d like to hike the bright angel trail. One day. Thanks for showing us who can do that hike what it looks like in the Grand Canyon. I love the Grand Canyon. Most only get to look at it from a distance. You got up close and personal with it. Thanks for posting
So good to see you again Catherine, it's been a while. Thanks for taking us all along. I've been to the GC but never have I seen so much of it and with two gorgeous ladies to boot!
Well Done! Hike and video. Some of your trail exposure and rock climbing had me holding my breath, even though I knew you lived to tell about it. I kept thinking your niece was going to scream out "what have you gotten me into," but she was a real trooper too. Stay safe.
Hahaaa Thank you John! I was very clear and serious when I told Christine that this would be the hardest hike she’s done. I wanted to make very sure she fully understood. She was still onboard. Even so, it’s always different when you are actually doing it!
About 2 hours ago I just finished climbing out of hance canyon and used Grandview to get out. That section from hance canyon to Grandview was insane. The sun was baking me, thank God for that little mine shaft. Excellent video!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures yeah, I work at hermits rest and go down frequently but that was my first time down to hance rapids. I went down new hance trail and over to Grandview in 3 days. It was way more difficult then most main trails around here. Escalante route sounds brutal
Well, i just found your channel and i am very impressed! Do it while you are young. Both of you are two brave ladies. You had me on the edge of my seat on day four. Thank you so much for the tour of the GC ... your photography in totally fabulous. All of backpacking / hiking videos are wonderful ... look forward to every one!
Wow, wow... WOW! Major kudos to you Cat and your niece Christine. You are most certainly an inspiration to many. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and appreciate so much the courage and perseverance that ya'll exhibited. Thanks for sharing.
My heavens! Such an awesome journey you took with your cousin, Catherine! I so admire your dogged determination and tenacity. Wish that all young women and girls could see your videos; they are all so inspiring. Not just for women, but young men as well. Keep safe. jan
Wow! Epic back packing trip Cat and Christine! You both have a deep well of courage, strength and determination! I was at the Grand Canyon last month too but stuck to the Rim. Thanks for sharing the beauty from below. Awesome blossoms!
Great trip and photography! You picked the perfect time - good temperatures, with no harsh storms or snowfall. Hats off for climbing what was likely more than you expected.
Thank you Greg!! I do feel like we picked the perfect time. I know Joey, John and the boys were there about a week before me and they had a ton of rain and bad weather. I feel very fortunate we really only dealt with wind.
Hello Catherine, it is good to see you and Christine out on the adventure trail once again. What an epic trip. I have never made it to the Grand Canyon so I am really enjoying this adventure. Great footage in this video. The very best to you and Christine for a safe journey. Be safe and have lots of fun. 🤗
What a fun trip. Did the same but in reverse in 1986. It snowed hard on the rim, and we were not able to follow the Tanner Trail to the rim. Had to backtrack. Grandview was also snowed in, so it was all the way back to the South Kaibab trail. An epic trip! Great memory. Thanks for this... truly enjoyed!
Is it just me? I only watched the first 1/4 of the vid (HAD to go to bed), but it seems to me that this vid is a great leap forward both in presentation and video quality. Many of your previous vids I could take em or leave em (just a personal taste), but this one is just beautiful and engaging. Looking forward to finishing it tonight.
No offense taken. I think watching a big adventure is for sure more appealing than a car camp/day hike trip. Hoping to do more of these types of trips however, maybe not all as sketchy. Thank you.
Well, Ladies, you broke my heart. I should have been there. FANTASTIC hike. Great video! KUDOS, tough trail. I was trying to decide if I was going back this year, but you have convinced me. The views are gorgeous, only you own eyes can perceive the beauty. And it is the 100th anniversary. Thank you Cat and Christrine!!!
Thank you John! You are right about seeing the Grand Canyon with your own eyes. I’m not sure any video can do it justice. Hope you had an awesome trip!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures it was fantastic. A record superbloom year! I started posting photos on Instagram. Eason7204. Not the quality of yours though. Still posting on Google also.
Catherine, I am so impressed with the intestinal fortitude both you and Christine showed here. I tip my hat to you guys. I am very happy to see you progressing in difficulty. I am excited to see what is next. I enjoyed Christine s Iceland trip and hope you as well will make it out of the Country. Perhaps Banff Alberta could lure the two of you this way.
Hey Casper! Thank you so much! I have my passport in order and have talked with another person who’s channel you’re subscribed to about meeting him for a trip up there. We’ll see if it works out! :)
What an awesome adventure Catherine. I've hiked down 7 times but never did more then 3 days. that cliff scramble appeared to be super scary... thanks for sharing ❤
It was scary! I’m okay admitting that. lol. I’m glad we had the 5 days. That’s how much time we needed to complete this route without rushing and making foolish mistakes. Thank you for watching!$
The scenery in the Grand Canyon is wonderful. Thank you for sharing this video. I’m also glad to see both you and Christine were able to share this adventure. I hope things get better for both of you when you’re home.
Catherine Gregory I wasn’t meaning anything about your adventure. You mentioned that things weren’t great in suburbia and I also remembered Christine had an issue last year. I hope you’re both in better spirits after.
@@viewsandreviews180 ahhhh...I misunderstood. Christine is doing great actually. You have a good memory. She's in a really good place. I am much better now that I've had my dose of nature. :) Thank you for your concern and caring.
Catherine Gregory it’s what people do for people they care about. If its not too presumptuous I’d recommend a song to you, Jason Mraz “Have it all”. I’ve sung that for my children (among a few we’ve shared) and meant every word.
Views and Reviews thank you. I love Jason Mraz. I actually have had the pleasure of hanging out with him a bit and seeing him perform in an intimate setting. He’s very involved with a non profit organization called Life Rolls On that I also volunteer my photography services for. He’s not only an amazing artist, but a really good and giving person. I’m a big fan!
Great Video and I am excited to try this route myself. After watching your steep descents and climbs, I would love to make a recommendation. I always bring along some para-cord and use it to lower my pack down a steep section before I climb down. I will then in turn tie the cord to my belt when I climb up a steep section. This allows me to pull it up by hand after the climb and when I am on a stable landing. It actually saves a lot of time and can prevent injuries from loss of balance falls. Keep up the great videos and am looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks so much a good tip with the para-cord. We did utilize it during the talus chute portion of the hike although I didn’t show that in the video. Always a great tool to have in your pack.
Seeing the USA through your eyes. I have said that before and you re-enforced it with this trip. What beautiful scenery and the Grand Canyon is stunning. You did a fantastic job with the views and narration as you always do. Not much of a trail for a lot of your trip and it didn't look like it would take much of a mis-step to get you into trouble. I hope to see a lot more from you this year as I look forward to each video .
Thank you so much Ken. You hit the nail on the head with your trail description. It feels incredibly rewarding to have completed the route. I hope to bring you a lot more beauty this year. Thanks for coming along.
End to end I thoroughly enjoyed this one Catherine. As you say 'Nature is our church.' Good to hear how the spectacular surroundings center you. I watched Christine's take on it - that was excellent. Wow you're related - I bet it felt brilliant to share such varied scenes and terrain and hey weather. Good going - brave on certain sections. All the very best. Mark
Hi Mark! Thank you!! Yes, I loved being out there with Christine. There are very few people I would trust being on an adventure like that with and she is one of them. So glad you enjoyed it.
Yikes and holy awesome! No way could I do that with my fear of heights, you gals were sure brave. Those views stunning though! Thanks again for sharing your adventure and looking forward to the next one!
Thank you Julie. This is a great way for folks who don’t want to do something like this themselves to share in the experience. Glad you could come along!
You get a big fat F for fabulous and you are now officially my new super hero, dang i doubt they could even rescue me with a chopper, thanks for taking me along....lol
LOL... I didn't tell you about the little drop into the slot canyon b/c I figured it was nothing compared to the class 4 talus chute you'd have to descend later that day. GC hiking miles are some of the hardest anywhere, congrats on completing this route... not easy!!
Cat, thanks for the video of an incredible trek! The scenery was stunning! The trail obviously presents some serious challenges. This video made me want to do that trek. Again, thanks! ☺
Just saw your Grand Canyon video from last year. I went down the Tanner Trail about a month after you. It's interesting how much the river can change in a month - it was blue green in April. If you go there again, go down the Tanner then turn right at the beach and take the Beamer Trail to the confluence with the Little Colorado River. You can see that on my Grand Canyon video on my channel.
Stunning panoramas & stills, as usual, gal. Lots to work with for our screen savers ! Refreshing to see "the green blush" on The Canyon`s slopes. Appreciate shots of "the trail" at your feet as well. This was no "walk in the park." Actually felt like I (was) there with you. Good to see you both used hiking staffs. 29:40 one slip and your future hiking adventures are OVER ! (You might bring poly rope next time to haul packs up the walls, separately, allowing you full attention & range of motion to getting up/down those SCARY escarpments...) The Wind & The Rain & The Sand are all part of the overall texture of (this) unique hiking adventure. Anyhoo, WELL DONE gals !
What a amazing adventure! Cudoos to both of you for conquering your fear. Always scary while navigating but what a great accomplishment when done. Looking forward to your next adventures. I believe john A and crew repelled down that wall
Wow! You ladies are so badass. This is a really tough 5 days. Gorgeous, but very tough. Nicely done video and narration. I did a 23-day private boater raft trip from Lee's to Pierce a couple of years ago. Such a different perspective and experience, but many similar experiences. We had brutal winds, an ice storm and temps in the 20s one night. That blowing wind and fine sand!! Now that brought back memories! There's no tent in the world that can keep it out. Congrats on a great adventure. And thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Thank you! I was thinking after seeing the rafters what an amazing adventure that must be, but very different. Was kind of wishing we could hitch a ride up the river. Hahaa
We were a day ahead of you at Lipan, and took 2 days rest at Tanner Beach. Saw you as you hit the river. Then, you were ahead of us all the ways out. Nice video, and getting over the obstacles. We had a good trip, and am glad to see this resulting camera work.
Amazing hike Catherine! I was thinking about John when you credited him with the route suggestion! You should have known he would hand you a super challenge. I remember his hike and you got great footage in spite of terrible conditions. So fortunate to have a your niece Christine hiking along with skills also. Sharing the suck helps with morale. I was holding my breath with the boulder scrambling and sheer height of that last cliff. You got more trail cred in one hike than some people get in many. Congratulations.
Thank you!! That's okay. I'm flattered that John is confident in my capabilities to handle this route. I feel very fortunate to have had Christine as my partner out there. There are very few people I would trust being on a trip like this. We new a great team. :)
Another great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to document this and share it with us. Absolutely love all your videos and hoping one day I'll be able to make it out west to do some hiking of my own.
That was an amazing hike. I have been too the Grand Canyon twice. One of my favorite places. I went to the bottom by helicopter and drove a boat on the Colorado river. Would love to have done the hike. Anyway, thank you Catherine for the video. Really enjoyed it.
so happy to see you back with a new trip...in a place that is on my bucket list. You and Christine were on some pretty scary trails...but being the pro you are...it was no problem. Looking forward to your 2019 adventures...who knows I just may run into you this year in the Sierras...take care....and as Roy Rogers used to sing...Happy Trails to you
It's great to see how your endurance is improving, definitely some challenging sections encountered. So pleased to see you had a good partner the Grand Canyon is not for the faint of heart that's for sure. I also think you picked a great time of year to hike some months can be dangerously hot and its easy to see how some hikers get into trouble. Glad you enjoyed it and well done your gear selection looked good and your videography was excellent as always.
Thank you so much Paul. I probably wouldn’t attempt a Grand Canyon hike past March. Even March can be hot some years. We were very lucky with the weather.
Yeah that Escalante is challenging. The time we did it we took the off-trail between Cardenas and Escalante Butte - that was an adventure all by itself! We exited Red Canyon which is very tough, but climbing all the way out Grandview is not easy! Good work.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures - something we call GCF - "Grand Canyon Factor". Miles in the Canyon need to be multiplied into "canyon miles". They always seem to take more days to complete :) I've done lots of off-trail routes there over the last 15 years. I can recommend some amazing places if you go back. Email bobwadeguitar@gmail.com. Happy Trails!
Wow, such an epic journey! Breath-taking scenery and beautifully shot as usual! I've hiked in GC, but never a GC backpacking trip (much to my regret). I have done many other back packing trips in the High Sierra- some of them uncomfortable, some painful and a few that were downright scary. I wouldn't trade any of that for the world! It's trips like that that really puts the mundane day to day routine of work and city life into perspective. Thank you!
Thank you. I couldn’t agree more. It is incredibly rewarding to accomplish something like that. You learn so much about yourself and what your body is capable of. Not to mention it’s ingredients for the best adventures and memories.
Only one crow, a scorpion and I only heard a few birdies chirping in the background, within the entire area? Not surprising given the wild conditions. The river is the only living thing in sight. I think it helps enormously to drink its water, it holds a lot of memory and gives the mind a leg up.
Aww that was trecheous, but u two tough girl's made it, yes... amazing scenery too..wow, thanks for taking us along... awesome 👍😎

Wow!! That sounds crazy. I think Tanner might be an easier uphill than Grandview. I could be wrong, but it seemed that way.
What made it difficult was the snow. We kept losing the trail and cliffing out. Seemed too dangerous to continue up. Grandview looked worse!

Aww luv the sound of water flowing.
What gorgeous videography! Well done. 👍. Great to see Christine again.
Hi Karen. Thank you so much. It was good to be on another trip with Christine!
You ladies are amazing!✨💪✨ I had no idea the Grand Canyon was that challenging!👏👏
Thank you! I hope people don't get the impression I disliked it out there. This is was adventures are made of and I had an absolute blast.
One of your best videos! What an adventure!
Thank you Craig!
That was quite the Trip! You had to put up with almost all weather conditions as well! You both ROCK!!! Cheers 🍻
Thank you so much Richard!
Not finished watching but UGH it's is so beautiful. I love the Grand Canyon. You and Christine sure had an awesome late winter adventure
It is so beautiful Amy. I may hit you up when I come to Utah this year. I was talking to Christine about it. Maybe we can collaborate on a hike. :)
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures I actually had that thought when I was watching this video! haha I would love that. Hopefully that would end up happening
Spectacular scenery. I can only dream of having the opportunity to go for a backpacking trip like this.👍👍👍👍
So nice to see you and your amazing adventure! Great job putting video together. Breathtaking views. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you Rimona. So glad you enjoyed it.
wow!.....what a spectacular place.....just so over the top majestic.....beautiful!
Thank you Mike! Head west one of these days!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures That's a pleasure Catherine - I love your hikes and your company. This was epic!
You did an excellent job of capturing the beautiful scenery. Good camera and nice slow pan shots. Good to see two ladies enjoying the out-of-doors.
Thank you so much! I am always working at improving my production value. I appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Glad I found this channel. It's taking me places I'll never get to visit on my own. Great scenery and excellent camera work.🙏👍😎
Thank you 🙏
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures my pleasure ma'am. You make excellent videos 🙏👍
Beautiful scenery, challenging hike for sure. Well done!
Thank you Lily!
You have made great strides in the backpacking field. From unsure to sure, congratulations! It is a pleasure to watch the evolution. Keep it up...
Thank you! 🙏
That definitely looked challenging and also so rewarding!!
You get a big fat F for fabulous and you are now officially my new super hero, dang i doubt they could even rescue me with a chopper, thanks for taking me along....lol
Ha ha ha ha… Thank you so much. Glad you could come along!
More amazing footage!!
Excellent video quite an accomplishment , you two should be very proud of yourself! Interesting and entertaining!!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Sand is the worst! What an incredible hike, Catherine! I'm so looking forward to getting my backpacking kit together this year!
Great video and great attitude during such a tough hike. Both of you did fantastic.
Thank you Bryan! It was an incredibly rewarding adventure.
Holy crap...that is one difficult hike!!! Not exactly a bike trail! You two ladies are amazing and should be proud of your accomplishment.
Thank you 🙏!
LOL... I didn't tell you about the little drop into the slot canyon b/c I figured it was nothing compared to the class 4 talus chute you'd have to descend later that day. GC hiking miles are some of the hardest anywhere, congrats on completing this route... not easy!!
It was nothing compared to the chute!! LOL 😂Thank you again for all your help. It was an adventure for the books and one I’ll never forget.
Cat, thanks for the video of an incredible trek! The scenery was stunning! The trail obviously presents some serious challenges. This video made me want to do that trek.
Again, thanks! ☺
Thank you! It was incredible. Hard while we were doing it, but so rewarding in the end.
I was there the same time as you! The snow was slushy in the afternoons but better in the mornings for hiking. Your videos are beautiful.
You were? Did you backpack? Thanks so much Tara!
Thank you. This definitely not a walk in the park, but so worth the effort.
What a amazing adventure! Cudoos to both of you for conquering your fear. Always scary while navigating but what a great accomplishment when done. Looking forward to your next adventures. I believe john A and crew repelled down that wall
Thank you John! It was a challenging yet incredibly rewarding trip.
Awesome job on this one. Tough trip captured very well.
Thanks so much Richie!
Wow, you captured the beauty of the Grand Canyon perfectly. Loved it!
Thank you Haydee!
That is so cool that you saw us. That trip created memories that will last a lifetime!
Wow, Incredible, Beautiful, Stunning and Majestic!!! Awesome Vlog!! Thanks for sharing!! Darren
Thank you Darren!
Another great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to document this and share it with us. Absolutely love all your videos and hoping one day I'll be able to make it out west to do some hiking of my own.
Thank you so much Natalie. Let me know if you ever plan to head west!!
WOW!!!! So beautiful, you guys are brave. That looked really hard. Happy you both made it back safe!💖
Thank you Iris I’m glad we made it out safe as well.
That was an amazing hike. I have been too the Grand Canyon twice. One of my favorite places. I went to the bottom by helicopter and drove a boat on the Colorado river. Would love to have done the hike. Anyway, thank you Catherine for the video. Really enjoyed it.
Don's travels and rants DON thank you Don! So glad you enjoyed it.
Wow!! Awesome hike! Y’all are 2 tough ladies! 👍
Thank you Ricky. It was a challenge for sure.
so happy to see you back with a new trip...in a place that is on my bucket list.
Good work.
Thank you Bob. The two trips I have done in the Grand Canyon have been the hardest trips I have ever done. Well worth it though.
We ran into a couple who had seen Big Horn Sheep.
