Thanks John I thought my NSW model was missing the handrails from use, but now I know the story I thank you again! You are certainly a master! Stay safe.
Hi John. Just the ticket. Ive began to start a collection of R55 Trans Con diesels. Didnt know there were so many variations. first class vid keep it up.
Hello & thanks for your comment. I have to say though that I'm not really sure what you are asking me here? Could you please be a bit more specific, thank you. Cheers, John.
Nice collection of Switchers John
Thank you. John.
Thanks Dave, I wasn't sure wether I should leave this vid until I got the missing two but hell....I just decided to run with it now. I will however get the missing two at some point & then maybe run all 9 in one go! Best regards, John.
Thanks again buddy....much appreciated. Regards, John.
great video John and a wonderful insight to these locos. certainly inspired me to order one in mint condition myself! sorry about the delay on the 3775 video, i have a backlog of video's to catch up on first :)
Thanks Ellis.....glad you liked the vid. May I ask which type mint condition one you have ordered?
No worries on the 3775 vid....you'll get there when you are ready! Regards, John.
OK Ellis cool! You may have to change the wheels to run on your track but no worries if so.....I'm in the process of getting a stack of wheels being re-profiled so I will then have some for sale! Cheers, John.
Hi Andrew, thanks for the info & comment....I did actually already know this but big thanks again. Cheers, John.
Thanks again George. I think you mean R155 not R55. Since doing this vid I now have the blue Oz Victorian Railways version so just one to go now for the full set! Best, John.
Hi Dave...no I haven't yet....that one is still eluding me but I will get one! Since doing this vid I have actually aquired the blue Victorian one! She's not perfect but very good. Cheers buddy, John.
Hi John
the Victorian (Australian)
Its From State of New South Wales (NSW are maroon ) Victorian ones are Blue .
Cheers Andrew Great vid
OK buddy, leave it with me & I'll see what I can do as soon as I can. Cheers, John.
The roof hatch and fan vent detail improvements appeared in 1958, along with the 5007 running number and wasp stripes in the UK. 1959 model had Mark.III. coupling. It stayed in yellow and wasp stripes livery in the UK market until withdrawl in 1964.
Two you haven't collected yet (and I'd like) are in the 3rd Edition (1957) catalogue.
On the cover original (1957) Green 4464 with smooth roof, red warning stripe under the handrails along side of the lower body, Triang Railways in yellow on red stripe background.
Inside the catalogue original (1957) Yellow 4464 with smooth roof, red warning stripe under the handrails along side of lower body, Triang Railways in yellow on red stripe background.
Therefore two versions for the UK in 1957 year of introduction. In the 2nd Edition (1956) catalogue the model doesn't even appear.
Discontinued in 1964 in the UK, according to the 1968 Triang Hornby Book Of Trains.
CP and CN, etc. versions were for export versions and not sold in the UK. However E-Bay now gives us access to buying these versions.
Hi Andy...what more can I say than thank you again for adding such valuable information to my channel!! My kindest regards, John.
it was the R.155 yellow with hazard/dazzle stripes 1961

You do realise that, by changing the chassis and couplings on the originals, you have devalued them considerably? I wouldn't look twice at a supposed 1956 Maroon one with a MK111 coupling on it.
Hi John,
I'm having an issue where the pickups are too tight and slowing down the motor and making it prone to stalling. Do you have any ideas on how to ease the press? Thanks
Matt
Hi Matt. OK, when you say pick-ups I assume you are meaning the ones on the wheels? If so there are 2 types....the ones with the silver spring and the ones with flat copper strips. In either case it is real easy to just bend them back carefully so as to reduce the pressure onto the wheels. I've never seen them so tight as to make a loco stall? Hope that helps? Please let me know how you go on? All the best, John.
chambs123 Hi John apologies I made an error, it is the brushes against the motor which appear to be pressed too tight by the strength of the paperclip type wire. Easing them off slightly whilst running in same spot presents noticeable difference in speed. Just loosening then should do the trick I think but not sure how to achieve. Thanks
Matt

OK Matt no worries....I understand fully. Right....I assume the brush spring is original? If so it is real easy to take it off & bend it inwards to reduce the pressure on the brushes! if this doesn't do the trick then I fear the windings on the motor are the problem (shorted turns) or the magnet is very weak? Either case would give you the same kind of weak power & stopping the motor easy! Please let me know how it all goes? All the best, John.
Hi John Thanks for your help :) I'll try bending in the spring slightly.
Matt
trainmania100 No worries Matt....please let me know? Best, John.
ive got a yellow one of them that no offence i cant stand do you want it
to have each swicher to pull lods of 10 choach
I own the grey and yellow engine. I have considered selling it. Contact me if you are interested and maybe we can work out a deal.
