Fun fact: Tosin Abasi wrote and played everything on the this whole album. He programmed the drums(as opposed to actually playing them, but the fact that he can even WRITE drum parts like this is banana sandwich crazy.
Just if you guys didn't know, there is no bass player in Animals As Leaders, Only 2 8-strings guitarists and a drummer, pretty incredible what they can do. Tooth and Claw, The Woven Web and Ka$cade are great follow up.
You’re a damn genius. This is Matrix Music. I saw them live with their current lineup - starring the best drummer they’ve ever had via Matt Garstka. Believe it or not, they nail this live.
That's from their 2009 album. Probably my favorite. Also with their original drummer. All of their albums are amazing. 3 members. 2 guitarists no bass. Best drummers. Enjoy the ride 🙏
First time I saw these guys live was Slaughterfest in Portland, OR around 2010. Walked in as they were playing and saw a massive metal crowd, every jaw on the floor, everybody frozen in delight. Every bit as tight live as recorded. They dont make mistakes anymore.
I was there at that show, slaughterfest was sick then.. that night me and the boys went in knowing animals album already. And they nailed it live that night. I'd trade everything to go back to that night.
Still the best reaction channel out there. love your enthusiasm. if you want a new rabbithole to go into, id go into Tesseract. its like a mix of Porcupine Tree and Deftones in my opinion. Id start with "smile" or "singularity" as the most accessible way to start, then expand out from there.
GUYS!!! Just after watching your reaction (amazing and entertaining as always 😁) I discovered the most mindblowing band I heard in all my entire life. Like what are the chances right?? 😂 I'm still processing it. I listen to a crazy ton of different music and bands like Animals As Leaders and a lot of other incredibly mindblowingly talented bands from all over the world like them but this is it... this is literally another level... I don't want to spoil you anything else because I'd love you guys to do a blind reaction to it. The band is called Sokoninaru and the song is Tenohira De Odoru. I hope you read this comment 🙏 I'm 100% sure it will be an amazing experience for you.
Mind Spun is an incredible feat of heaviness, I highly recommend that song. As well as basically anything off of The Madness Of Many. This band is great cause they cover a wide range of musical styles and blend them all with Prog metal.
It inspires such happiness that you two love this and immediately vibe with it as much as most of us long-time fans do. Your joy is real and it's refreshing! As for a recommendation, I echo those comments beneath mine and suggest nearly anything by AAL, however, I would specifically highlight the "Inner Assassins" or "Ectogenesis" drum playthrough by their current drummer, Matt Garstka. The drummer featured here, in CAFO, is only on the first album (and yes, he's also great -- check out more of Navene Koperweis). There's a series of impeccably recorded drum videos entitled "The Madness of Matt", wherein you can find the current drummer (Garstka) effortlessly laying waste to his kit in a live playthrough of some of AAL's best tracks. Again, "Inner Assassins" or "Ectogenesis" are a sure-fire introduction to the drummer's brilliance, while still featuring the audio of the guitarists/bassist. I imagine you'll love it. Thank you for the upload!
I got so hyped up watching you guys hear them for the first time!!! I’ve been waiting on this for a long time. Check out some live sessions of them playing other songs for sure, as it still sounds as good as studio quality. After that, their drummer also has overhead cam solo videos, which you’d love after watching Danny play Pneuma live!
Shocking, yes! The right word to describe first listening of this song. I saw them live, they were support band for Dream theater. Absolutly badass show🤟
Silent planet - trilogy! Silent planet is another band you need to listen to when you get the chance! They are metalcore. I promise it will blow you away.
Very interesting I would imagine. It’s never been quite documented the struggles they went through to create those masterpieces. Musicianship at its border was achieved 100’s of years ago.
I humbly request a song by the band Wilderun. They are criminally underrated. I recommend one of the recent studio playthroughs they've done (Garden of Fire or Suncatcher). Thanks for your time.
Wave Of Babies next by Animals. Its so good. The band is flawless. All their albums and tracks are incredible. No bass player. Just 2 guitarists Djenting it up and an amazing drummer.
sweet!!! saw these guys in a small club in Iowa in like 2009(ish) and been a fan ever since. mind blowing polyrythms. hard to classify too, metal jazz fusion???? fun fact: the 2 dudes play the same guitar, its an 8 string 808x basically bass and guitar all in one. Tosin is truly amazing on it. they are better live BTW. great reaction!
Though the drummer in this video didn't write the drum parts for this, he has a band called Entheos, that is a much heavier, darker band, and the drumming is just as insane. Always love both your reactions. \m/
Great choice, guys! Found a gem here, for sure. This one's always on my gym playlist. Another couple great instrumental rock/metal groups you might wanna check out are Pelican and Caspian.
Hey. I've had no internet since friday, and now the rivers are flooded more than have been in decades. The Ashley gorge that's usually got 2-3 cubic metres per hour is currently at 400!
Ok, so I've seen these guys live 4 times. If you get a chance, you HAVE to see them. It's kinda unbelievable how talented they are, and I'm not positive that Tosin is 100% human. But I also COMPLETELY resonate with the looks on your faces LMAO. That mix of 'what the fuck is this' with 'hey I think I caught the beat...wait no' all the way to 'I'm not sure what just happened but I think I like it' to 'oooooh yeah that is fucking naaaaaasty!!'
I'm so glad you liked it, guys! I think this one opens a big chapter called Djent so there is a lot to explore and share in that direction. Keep it up! =)
I don't think I'm weird I think I have great taste in music,...my two favorite bands: Gojira and Animals as Leaders,...I think it's their uniqueness and talent levels combined. You need to go down this rabbit hole that is Animals as Leaders, 'cuz like Gojira, they just have a really stupid hard time making anything other than really good music. It's hard for me to make a reaction suggestion because I like all their stuff, so I'm gonna' throw out... "Ectogenesis", but do the Matt Garstka (drummer) video of it, so worth it; it hones in on the part where Tosin and Javier DOUBLE THUMP (Tosin's trademark technique) with the bass line of the drummer, it's sick! Nerd fact: This album Cafo was on, Tosin Abasi the lead guitarist made the drum score on a computer himself and then him and Javier the rythym guitarist found a drummer who could do it. Then, starting on album 2, that drummer in the video didn't continue and they found a BETTER drummer, Matt Garstka, ever since. The three now have a legendary "band mind meld" as Tosin describes it, that's just freakin' special.
Wearing a Death, Human longsleeve, you can't not dig the hell out of this track and this band, Tosin is a freaking alien, man! haha and there is no room for vocals, lyrics would just get in the way and dilute their "thing", brings prog metal more into jazz territory (and Cosmic Sea is the doorway to this evolution of metal)
We played with Ed Reyes and Matt Garska the week before NAMM just prior to the shutdown. Solid players man, they make you want to burn your instruments
Tosin Abasi performing Wave of Babies at EMG is a must watch
absolutely! But also The Woven Web, any live version is IMPRESSIVE. Just a blast to witness that "thumping" technique of tosin's.
@@JadeIsBunny Tosin’s thumping is hypnotic
That was the first time I ever had heard of Tosin, Or AAL. I love this band, and that video!! For sure a must watch!!
Yes
Thank you for this comment.. he has catapulted to the top tier in my book ..FACKING amazing
Fun fact: Tosin Abasi wrote and played everything on the this whole album. He programmed the drums(as opposed to actually playing them, but the fact that he can even WRITE drum parts like this is banana sandwich crazy.

Programmed drums are disgusting

The Woven Web by Animals as Leaders next.
Yes!! My favourite AAL song
Yes he must do it!
Just if you guys didn't know, there is no bass player in Animals As Leaders, Only 2 8-strings guitarists and a drummer, pretty incredible what they can do. Tooth and Claw, The Woven Web and Ka$cade are great follow up.
The Woven web is so epic
They mentioned it at 8:40.
I think the 2nd guitarist records the bass for them
they still have bass on their records and as a backing track on live shows
These guys are the modern day Rush. The saying goes: “How are only three people making all this music?”
Gotta check "Tooth and Claw" next for suuuure
I concur... it is short and sweet, catchy, and very accessible....
The Brain Dance is something different, and exactly what it sounds like.
Nah, new stuff is boring
@@amjan new stuff is much better. the last 2 albums are very obviously their best
Animals as Leaders - The brain dance
Dude, I'm so fucking happy right now. I love that this is just the beginning. LET'S GO!!!!!
🌀 🤯
I really wish animals as leaders made more songs like this, the relentless riffs are just so amazing.
You’re a damn genius. This is Matrix Music. I saw them live with their current lineup - starring the best drummer they’ve ever had via Matt Garstka. Believe it or not, they nail this live.
Matrixcore
Tooth and claw by these guys for a great ease into the band. Groovy, you will fly around the room!
✈️😃
I saw them when they opened for Meshuggah and they just killed it, soo amazing live
4:22
...lol... I had the same expression on my face as well, my first listen to this.
if you carry on this trajectory of prog metal, you will eventually meet France's other incredible band - IGORRR
"Spaghetti forever" sold me with them lol
Animals as leaders :
Tempting Time
The Woven Web
Ka$cade
also: An Infinite Regression, Wave of Babies, Nephele.
Physical Education u.u
These are all great suggesions^
@@JadeIsBunny I agree with Nephele. Javier's finest songwriting imo
I saw them open for Meshuggah years ago and they played this!! The whole place went crazy!! Great Fckin memories!!
Three. THREE guys. Love this sound. Make Scale The Summit next for this groove.
LOVE IT. You two didn't know what to do with yourselves! That was great! I'll subscribe with the request. Polyphia: G.O.A.T.
It is mind melting.
Gotta check out their live performances of CAFO and The Woven Web at Brutal Assault 21
Hey you could give Ne Obliviscaris another listen ! Intra venus, Forget not, Devour me colossus...
Theyre so damn good live. Lucky enough to catch their 10yr anniversary tour of this album and it was mindblowing
That's from their 2009 album. Probably my favorite. Also with their original drummer. All of their albums are amazing. 3 members. 2 guitarists no bass. Best drummers. Enjoy the ride 🙏

Blow me Away You(niverse) by Gojira from The Link Alive will
totally blow you away!!!!
Yeah, but did you hear it live at Hellfest 2019? So much better imo. They brought it to a whole other level.
Oh right now some Periphery please! Either "Follow Your Ghost" o "Blood Eagle"

nobody wearing Human T-shirt could ever dislike this masterpiece! ;) It's connected to Paul Masvidal at some parts as well. Loved your reaction! :)
Yes! Exactly! 💯. Cynics - “Textures” & Deaths - “Cosmic Sea” are two of my all time favorite tracks. RIP to the great Sean Reinert
