My son parted ways with his management as well. He’s an actor and does quite a bit of commercials. He was getting more jobs through connections than through his management. You have to do what’s best for you.
As someone that wants to run her own business very soon, I honestly recommend everyone to take a business course in management so you can run your own show. No need in having a middleman and unnecessary hate plus more $$$ in your pockets. I can't wait to try your products as I know they'll do wonders for my hair 💕 continue to blossom girl

1. She thought that since you were young, and had never been managed before that you would be an easy person to take advantage of.
2. She is a supervisor, and when they had layoffs did not get let go, so she knew what she was doing. She just did not consider you a priority.
2. Try to find a management company that specializes in promoting Black people not just people of color. I’m sure you already know but you will continue to gain greater wisdom in the knowledge that there is a huge difference between the way Black people and people of color are treated, especially in business.

Brittany, I am so glad you are discussing this. I am sorry you had this experience. You are not the only influencer of color to mention this. Influencers of color are being lowballed into making money for the management and accept low offers for their content creation. It’s very sad to see.
Always ask to see the original contract. I guarantee that management is getting more than they should be.
Thankfully, didn’t get to the point where I signed a contract with them full-time. They’re definitely would’ve been ways for them to take more money.
Girl leaving that contract was a blessing in disguise. You know the saying everything that glitters ain’t gold the way they handled the entire situation was so distasteful and the fact that the supervisor was clearly NOT on your side was a big no smh

They will tell you this is your payment but then they get more money from the company you are supposed to work for and since they are intermediate you don’t actually know the amount they get before giving you the money and they get 10% from they money that’s in the contract (they already took from )
I signed a contract with an agency for modeling for a year and I got 4 gigs only

This situation sounds crazyyy. I’m so happy you left. Babe your platform is too large to be accepting that type of treatment or those minimums. It sounds like there was no contracts being exchanged or reviewed at all.
Communication is EVERYTHING! They know that and they like to be vague when they have all the details.
You can do better by yourself the right management will find you.
Management is something else and hopefully, you will find someone that is trustworthy and knows how to do their job without constantly being scammy and conniving at the same time!

I really like how you didn’t accept the bare minimum from this management. I really needed to watch this, reminds me to keep striving for the best and to separate yourself from those who aren’t willing to try. They really do try to low ball people of color. But hey some people are just looking for a check. They won’t be able to understand our innate drive as people whose ancestors built this country.The payment is long way over due. I agree to an extent, but like I said, in the video management provides you with access that you wouldn’t get on your own. That’s why a lot of really big influencers that we know are signed to management. But for now I definitely will be just by myself😂

The fact that influencers now have management companies screams "industry" and I personally would want no parts in that. Independent is best but I'm sure that it's hard to prosper given the monopolized playing field that being an influencer has become.
