Got jumped and had a gun pointed at me on the train police were at the next stop and they only arrested one guy and 4 months later they only charged one person with theft and it was a guy who just picked my phone up when I dropped it while fighting 6 guys. The guy charged didn't hit me once he just stole my phone. Metro transit police told me they got the guy who pointed a gun at me they got one of the guys who put me in a headlock and one of the other guys who jumped me. Yet none of them were charged with anything lol mind you the train is video and audio recorded so they caught the whole thing on camera. It's not just the prosecutors it's the police as well as they detained two of the guys at the train stop, yet only arrested one of them. How they guy who pointed a gun in my face and said stop fighting back or ill shoot you wasn't charged with anything but oh well. Just remember your Republicans out their. The police did nothing that night to arrest these people. They did nothing to charged these people. It's not just the liberal da or prosecutor its the police not doing their job as well. Was also told they would contact me never did a victim specialist working for the city contacted me to tell me one person was charged with theft.
If the goal is to actually prevent kids from committing violent crime in the first place, then we need to focus our attention on ending poverty. This must be stopped. The way we stop it is by actually giving these kids a legitimate chance to succeed in life. Universal Basic Income, Universal Health Care, Legitimate economic and educational opportunities for everyone and Mental Health Resources all need to be looked at. Our Society is only as strong as our most venerable community members. If we refuse to help and ignore their basic human needs, we can expect more violent crime to happen. Throughout history, people without hope, community, financial resources and educational opportunities will resort to crime. Every. Single. Time. By ignoring poverty, we are setting ourselves up for continued failure.
@@Jackjohnjay Hi Julie- If you look at the data and research done on inequality, poverty and at risk populations and the direct correlation that has to crime, you’ll see a definite relationship. Obviously not all people who are poor resort to crime. That said, the resources, advantages and just every day survival items that many of take for granted are things that just aren’t there for at risk community members. Because of that, crime is often the end result. And that’s exactly what we are seeing in real time here. Given the proper resources, help and safety net, you would see a drastic improvement in crime rates.
