Paris Visite Travel Pass: Is it worth the money?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 тра 2024
- Last month, on my "2024 Paris Metro Guide", I forgot to talk about the Paris Visit Travel Pass, and one of my subscriber asked a question about that specific transport solution in Paris.
So, this video is all about the Paris Visite Pass: is it convenient, user-friendly?
Is its high price justified by the additional benefits included? How does it compare to Navigo Easy 1-day pass and Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass?

Three day Travel Pass can be very useful for the reasons listed, but it may become de-magnetized by your credit cards if kept next to them. Then you must take it to a ticket office for reissue, they will try not to roll their eyes at you when you do...
Yes, that's true!
Nice to meet you! Thanks, top uploading,
Thank you! 🙏
Thank you very much for doing this video in response to my question. Much appreciated!
It was very helpful. I think for us, the Navigo Easy will be the way to go.
You're very welcome!
Merci bien! ♥
Avec plaisir !
I went with the museum pass and the navigo card. If you arrive close to Monday and spend a week you can get a weekly pass for transport.
Nice!
I will do a museum pass video soon. Did you find yours interesting? Was it really valuable?
@@paristoptips We used Museum Pass during our 7 day visit in 2023 and found it very useful. In addition to being a great value money wise it also meant shorter lines in many cases. We entered d'Orsay practically with no wait in line on a very busy day. Highly recommended!
Thanks!
I traveled to Paris last year, and unlike previous occasions where I purchased tickets for each ride, I decided to use Paris Visite (Zones 1-5 x 3 days)
I certainly found it to be a very flexible and quite useful option for short-stay travelers like me (I usually travel for work), since, in addition to transporting you throughout the city, transportation to/from the airport is also included. Returning flight time must also be considered, because if my plane departs at first time in the morning and i need to stay there at 5am, a taxi cab is the only possible solution, i guess.
I didn't try the Navigo option yet because I assumed it was for French citizens. I don't know how to buy it and I'm not sure how to compare both services.

Thank you for this video! Can you please tell me, do i have to put the paris visite ticket or t+ ticket in the machine every time that i transfer from one bus to another ? Or in that case, only once to validate it and then just keep it safely in my pocket ? :)
Yes you do! It must be validated each time.
Thanks for the detailed video. Please correct me if I'm wrong but what I have understood in my case is that if I'm reaching Paris on friday morning and leaving on monday night, then I have no use of Navigo weekly pass, 3 day visite pass will be of around 66 euros for zone 1-5 (currently showing this on net) and 3 day navigo daily pass will be around 20 X 3 = 60 euros around. I guess daily navigo pass will be a cheaper option in this regard. Only difference will be those useless discounts.
Also, Can I just buy these passes from my home country and download them in my phone. Or I still have to purchase the physical ticket from the machines there at paris?
@@ShoTGamingPUBG You're right. Navigo Weekly will be useless. Navigo Easy can be downloaded on a mobile if it's an Android phone, but Paris Visite is only available on paper
Your videos are very helpful. We will be in Paris from Friday, Sept 20th to Friday Sept. 27th. Debating on purchasing a three day pass for Sept 20th thru Sept 22nd. Then the Navigo Easy for Monday, Sept 23rd through Friday Sept. 27th. We will also visit Versailles, Mont St. Michel and Bayeux. Will any of these passes cover the train for these other sites, outside of Paris? What about the CDG? My husband and I are visiting Paris for the first time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!!
First, I hope you spend some great time in Paris.
None of the Paris Pass will work for the Mont Saint Michel nor for Bayeux.
If I were you, I 'd go from CDG to Paris by taxi, for a first approach above ground of the city, use cardboard tickets inside Paris from Friday to Sunday, and then purchase a Navigo Découverte card + Navigo weekly pass for Monday to Friday, that will include the return to CDG.
In my case, the Navigo weekly pass sounds like the best choice. I arrive on Thursday, and I leave on Sunday morning. And this option allows me to travel to Versailles too if time allows it, correct?
Yes, absolutely!
Hello, great video indeed! But I still can't decide whether I should prefer Raris Visite or Navigo Easy.. We will need tickets for 2 days,(Sunday and Monday) for the Paris centre mostly. Which option would you suggest? We're aiming for a lot of sightseeing, because its our first time in Paris! Thank you!
I think I would just have a Navigo Easy with 10 tickets each.
Merci beaucoup!
Thanks for the video I was looking for information about Paris Visit Pass. I'm still thinking which pass is the best option for me... do both paris visit and navigo day includes all kind of transport? (zones 1-5). Because I arrive on a friday night, spend a couple days inside Paris, and other days 2 outside of Paris.
Now I can see probably I have to buy normal tickets on a navigo easy for the firts two days, and a navigo day ticket OR paris visit (zones 1-5) but I don't know if they include orlybus and rer also
Orlybus and RER are included on both the Paris Visite and the Navigo Day ticket (and the Mobilis 1 day if you don't have a Navigo Easy card), provided you select the right number of zones you want. But, Orlyval is on the Paris Visite Pass but not on a day ticket.
Merci!@@paristoptips
Hello, I will arrive on Friday, and leave on Monday. Which ticket do you recommend? One that includes round trip from CDG to city center please. Great channel!
There's only one that would cover all, the Paris Visit 5 days (4 days does not exist), 5 zones. But the price is very high at 76,25€!
I'd recommend you purchase a return ticket to CDG - 23,60€ - and a Navigo Easy with 10 t+ tickets - 19,35€. And if your phone is an android, you can even just get rid of the Navigo Easy card and save 2€.
Hey and thanks for the video. If I arrive on Wednesday and stay untiil friday evening would the bes option be the navigo weekly+ a bus ticket from orly to the center right?
It depends. At what dates will you be in Paris? If Orly is your airport, starting from June, there will be a direct metro direct to Orly.
@@paristoptips "sadly" ;) will be already traveling from the 1 of may to the 3.
@@paristoptips do you think taking the roissy bus from and then to the airport ist the best option and using the navigo easy pass while in paris (only zone1)
@@Daze97 Then a Navigo Découverte card (5€) with a Navigo Weekly zones 1 to 5 (30,75€) is enough. You don't need to purchase an Orlybus ticket, as it is included in the Navigo weekly.
@@paristoptips oh I see thank you very much and have a nice sunday
Hi, first of all thanks for providing such detailed metro guide! For the mobilis cardboard one-day pass mentioned at 4:00 mark, is that the same as Navigo day ticket (€8.65 per day for 2 zones)?
Yes, correct
Mobilis cards have the same value as Navigo day passes, without having to pay for a Navigo Easy card.
@@paristoptips I am confused about how to know if I require 1 t+ or 2 when there is a transfer between RER and a Metro.
Take example I stay depart from Gentilly station, and would like to visit Place Des Vosges. Based on Google map, I should take RER B to Chatelet Les Halles, walk 300m to take Châtelet metro to reach Saint-Paul. Does this trip cost 1 t+ or 2t+? Since there is walking of 300m involved.
This would help me to decide if I should get book of 10 t+ on Navigo easy, or just go with mobilis one-day pass. Thanks!
That would be a 1 ticket ride. As long as you don't exit the RER or the metro, inside Paris, you can transfer without having to use another ticket.
Hello, we will come on Friday, April 5th and return on Tuesday, April 09th. Which ticket should we buy for zones 1-3? I think Paris Visite pass card is an ideal card.
The cost for five days will be 44,45€. So provided you take the RER B from CDG to Paris and return, Paris Visite will be a good choice if you would use more than 9 t+ tickets during 5 days. So, yes, it should be a good choice!
Ill be arriving in Paris on Bastille day. I did the 48 hours big bus hop on hop off from the Monday. Got it for US$63.45. Still debating which mode of ticket to purchase for Sunday on arrival from CDG to the 17th Arrondissement and for return to CDG on Wednesday morning.
It really depends on how many you are and with what kind of luggage.
Alone, a taxi is costly. If Monday and Tuesday you are only staying in Paris, I'd either go on t+ tickets, cardboard or on an Easy card, or a weekly pass on Découverte that would include your return to CDG on Wednesday morning.
Btw, price on their website for the 48 hrs Big Bus Tour is 54€ or USD59.
@paristoptips It's a group of 6. I love how detailed you are! Was thinking taxi to and from the airport with luggage. And train tickets for Sunday as we will be doing your montmartre walk from Lamarck. But I note the pack of 10 will no longer be available that time. Ohh, the 48 hop on hop off came with a river cruise. I have an Excel sheet comparing prices 😃. Coming from the Caribbean to Europe is costing a bit but your videos make me so much more excited. It's the crowd I'm concerned about! I expect it to be ridiculous given that the Olympics is starting the next week
Yes, it will be crowded 😁
At 6, from and to CDG, you'd have to take 2 taxis, at 55€ each.
In vending machines, you can purchase up to 9 cardboard tickets at a time, at the full price of 2,10€.
Considering the crowd, don't really expect to use the hoho bus as a means of transport to get from point A to point B, but rather as a full time activity...
2 of us arrive on a Friday, 12:48 at Gare du Nord and then train out to Zurich on Saturday late morning. We need to get to Hotel, Eiffel, some brew pubs, Louvre, dinner and back to hotel and train station the next morning. I am very comfortable with public transportation......Cost do not bother us, but we don't want to sit in traffic with a private hire. That being said, is it worth Visite Travel Pass or just individual tickets. Why I like about a "unlimited" pass is you don't have to worry about knowing the cost to go from A to B. Thanks!
Then, you can take a Paris Visite for 2 days, but I believe purchasing individual tickets will be a much cheaper solution, as I don't see you spending more than 9 tickets each in just one day.
What is the suggestion for 5 days stay in Paris where the hotel is in Zone 2?
It depends how many times per day you'll take the metro, but I would say easy Navigo with a pack of 10 tickets
@@paristoptips thanks for the response. Can I use easy navigo for Zone 2?
@@zeljkotodor Yes. Zones 1 & 2 are always linked.
@@paristoptips Awesome. I didn’t know that. Thanks
I have traveled a lot and I think in general, "tourist" passes are almost never worth it. It's designed for people who don't want to do the work to figure out the regular fares or feels overwhelmed in calculating the discounts. The only way you will actually save money is if you rush through multiple museums, sights that you actually wanted to visit and not trying to take advantage of the discount. Not worth it 90% of the time. Navigo decouverte is the best but a hassle to get one and if you're not arriving into paris early in the week then that too is questionable. Whenever I'm passing through Paris for about 3 days I just get navigo easy with 10 ride tickets ( the physical 10 ride carnets are no longer available). 4+ days then I use my navigo decouverte. It's too bad Paris has not implemented the same system as London and new York where you just use contactless payment and they automatically cap your fare. Nice and simple and maximize your savings.
You're absolutely right!
In fact, they have tried to implement something similar to the Oyster card in London, called Navigo Liberté +, but it's only inside Paris, and, worst, it is linked to a bank account for you to pay monthly, not a system you can cap on on any machine! It doesn't work at all!!!
Your point is so true. I'm comparing prices for the IAmsterdam card and wondering how I'm doing all the activities listed!
One question on the Navigo Easy, can it be used by more than 1 person at the same time, once it is scanned for each person each trip?
@@leahguevara7658 No. Once a Navigo Easy is being used for a specific trip, it remains personal until the end of this trip.
It's too complicated compared to other big cities on this planet 🤣😂
Unfortunately, yes.
No it is not worth it in my opinion.
👍
