Hi, Very informative video. Can you please tell which connector you use to connect the dust extractor to you Mafell plunge saw? I have just purchased the same setup and I am looking for the best way to connect the two tools. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. The newer 27mm Festool hose head connects perfectly into the Mafell saw so I don't need an adapter. Just check you have the latest Festool 27mm hose head - I have the latest one with the green fabric anti-static hose cover and that fits a charm.
PS - I also use the Can Tec system for all my tools and just swap out the 27mm vac hose for a 38mm (I think) with an adapter into the CTM if I need to use - also provides more CFM amzn.to/3C9eZAx
Hi, Thank you very much, Much appreciated. My Festool mini dust extractor is arriving tomorrow. As it is brand new, I am sure it has the latest hose. I also have the Cen-Tec adapters so I should be ok. I was also just hoping that these adapters also fit the Festool 27mm hose. 😬
@@raymondo007 hi, the cen etc adapters don’t directly fit the 27mm hose so I run a separate hose when needed. The additional hose means I. An also use a cyclone. However, the cen tech threaded hose adapter pushes onto the 27mm nozzle so you can work for some situations when you’re not moving much ie table saw and chop saw. It’s a firm fit but not 100%. Good luck with the Festool vac. Brilliant kit. If not done already check out the zip up bags on eBay. Save you loads of cash 👍
When used to extract dust from a tool, like say your plunge saw, how does the Festool MIDI compare to the Milwaukee M18 Vac, with and without the Cen-Tec cyclone?
The Festool vac is better by far but depends on the tool. The saw is great on the Festool and ok on the Milwaukee at a pinch. Both are poor on my Milwaukee m18 router. The cen tech allows you to use a bigger dia hose which works better on some sanders and other tools. Milwaukee tools are generally poor on dust collection so more power the better. Festool and Mafell are just better for dust whatever vac is attached. With that said I would still get the midi it’s great.
@@madventure2318 Thanks. Was hoping that the M18 Vac with the cyclone would be good enough. Guess I'm just going to have to forget a small portable battery powered option, and settle for lugging and plugging in something like a MIDI.
Nice video, I was debating the midi but I’m moving forward, question were did you get the Festool to Cen-Tec connector you use in the M18? Thank you again for the good video
Hi, it's not a straight fit unfortunately, there are options. I find it easier to just use a separate hose for some uses. Have a look here, hopefully that answers things studio.ua-cam.com/users/videoKTiIL7vdMsA/edit
Hi. I think it is a wonderful looking vac. Even with a tight budget it is one of my most clearly coveted vacs. I love the bag full aspect and the remote turn on. Here I Australia, on a near poverty level pensioner income, I am hoping for a lottery win.
I understand. Even from a work perspective it’s an expensive vac but I have to say I wouldn’t swap it now. I have got so used to using it I even use it when working outside. And best of luck with that lottery win 😊
You know what, I couldn't put a finger on what it reminded me of when I got mine, and you are correct, it looks exactly like one of those pellet toilets. I can see myself reading "Wood" magazine while sitting on it. 🤣🤣🤣
After only using it a little, the electronics broke after the warranty. Then I dropped a heavy tool on it and the dark colored casing broke into many pieces. I had to replace the hose once because it hit a hot construction lamp. Customers think it is a beautiful tool, but you have to treat it as if it were a delicate piece of furniture. Not very appropriate in a place where renovations are taking place. Next time I will buy a simpler and more robust device. A regular household vacuum cleaner works just as well and the cord can be stowed away at the push of a button.
I'm professional handyman, so I tackle various jobs. I had mine midi for 5 years, used and abused. It was hard working horse, used for fine dust (filler sanding, concrete drilling, tidy up after demolition, you name it) It started to become very hot (took it apart, cleaned , changed main filter) and I had to change cable recently, was working perfect, no overheating after clean up. Unfortunately it was stolen couple days ago, but I'm pretty sure it would be working fine for more years. Maybe you was unlucky with your model
Did you do a video on the cyclone with the Midi yet?
Leave it with me. Will sort asap 👍
Just posted Dylan ua-cam.com/video/ue9BpBGtSds/v-deo.html 😊

Some really nice quality tools, Clearly you take a lot of pride in the jobs you do.
What are those adapters your using on the end of the hose?

I have 3! Used with a cyclone you do need a 36mm hose for best results. Never thought of them as a toilet but I can’t disagree 😂😂
Thanks. 36mm hose works much better. For vacuum that is, not as a toilet 🤣
@@madventure2318 I’m guessing a broken one could be handy😂
CT26,36,48 w/ a 36 or 50mm hose will yield much better results with a cyclone. Cheers!
Thanks Mike I did fancy a 50mm hose for my planner as well as replacing the link between the CTM and the cyclone but couldn’t readily find one.

Brilliant, well you can now read those gentleman’s ‘wood’ appreciation magazines in the privacy of your own locked workshop. 🤣

Oh dear. Not a cheep tool to break. Fingers crossed mine fairs better. Sorry for your loss 🥲
