I will pin my thoughts here, because I agree with @sjmonks3501 and disagree with some of those below. I agreed with all the major calls and will state my reasons for the ones that seem more controversial. First, the "kick out". Well, we can't see it, but the red player reaching for the ball precludes the green player being able to do much else. So the foul could not be his lowering his legs and impacting the red player, because red made that unavoidable. I would only issue a caution if he SLAMMED his legs down with excessive force. We can't see the tape, but I doubt he did based on the reactions. Next, the delay of restart, no question. The ball was set by a red player and green just chipped it away. Textbook delay of restart. Lastly the first goalkeeper challenge. Below, Dmitri, you said on review you would have not cautioned. But I will defend your original decision. Goalkeepers are awarded extra protection because of the vulnerable positions they end up in. Yes, the attacker was on time, yes, he played at the ball, but he nonetheless kicked the goalkeeper's arm. That's a foul, and so now whether it's a caution: if this game had been gentile and quiet, you could have talked to him and said, 'no more of it'. But this was already a rough game, and the bias should be to issue cards to keep things from escalating. So given the "temperature" of this game, I support your original call. I don't think anyone below disagreed with the red. It was clear. No idea what that attacker was thinking. Terrible challenge.
@dongiovanni6796 Thank you for the feedback, it’s always appreciated. I just felt annoyed with myself watching that back when he collided with the keeper. On the day I understood why I booked him and there wasn’t any complaints, it just seemed harsh on reviewing it. The red I still feel was a red all day long, studs leading and get’s none of the ball
I think you were spot on with most decisions although I can see why the challenge at 18:00 is just a very unfortunate collision so probably doesn't deserve a yellow even if it did in some part stop the PRY fans from losing there heads as much. What I will say is it felt like there were a lot of "lazy" challenges in this game that led to bookings and a definite lack of respect for player safety from both teams rather than any actual malicious intent. On the red card as a GK those tackles are dangerous and are clear reds for me. The player can claim they were contesting for the ball but I broke my leg when I was on the receiving end of a very similar challenge so will always see that as a red card challenge.
Personally i think all decisions were correct but you could have had a word with the player who leaned in the the other but with the game being as heated as it was it probably needed to be a yellow which you gave. Top referee and one i love watching. Im a referee in guernsey
Everytime Omonia feature on one of these videos, they're constantly being dirty, overly aggressive and making everyone else's experience a misery. There's playing 'hard but fair' and then there's Omonia!
Yellow #4 at 16.00 - What do you record that as? C1? And how do you sell it to the player...as I'm not sure "I don't like it when..." would go down very well. Top stuff as always 👍🏼
The yellow at 18:00 is the only thing I'd argue should have been done differently. The only reason for any head contact is the goalkeeper going to ground as he arrives, the attacker's arm is at his side not extended from the body, and the attacker arrives on-time for the challenge. For me, it's probably not even foul, though of course you'd stop play immediately to get the goalkeeper help. The red and everything else looked nailed-on correct. Really good job.
I still think it’s a foul but I agree with you on the booking part. Very unfortunate on the day and watching it back it shouldn’t have been a booking. Thank you
17:40 booking IMO anyway, not a booking. It was a 50/50, both player and keeper have a right to play the ball. The attacker kept his studs down, there was no excessive force, was making a clear attempt on the ball. You bring it back and say that he accidentally catches him with his elbow, and while true, his elbow was down by his side, not out stretched, there was zero intent to injure. At worst, ok, maybe a foul, but even then I'm not really sold.
As a GK I also also agree. Any contact was entirely accidental, the keeper also showed poor technique by putting his head where it shouldn't have been. The later challenge that resulted in a red card, was a total disgrace and the lad responsible deserves to have his face kicked in for that one. That's how people get SERIOUSLY hurt, no way was he geuinely attempting to play the ball, he just went in to smash the keeper.
Great match! I do agree with the yellow cards you could have been a bit more on it with the whistle and telling off however the players seemed to accept it which is fine. The red card is spot on although i would have blown the whistle on the first foul. He was ontop of the foot and defenitely hit the player. I would call the foul and give a yellow due to the reckless foul and being too late. I do understand positioning might have played a part in this but other then that great match!
I was a bit too laid back with it. Do you not think that the player in green was quicker to the ball and that the player in red put his foot in that position after being too slow?
Super ref, you have some tips for younger refs, like im not from England im from Romania and i would really like to advance into reffereing. And do you have some advices on how to deal with abuse from the people in the stands or how to get over a mistake?
Hey, thanks for watching the videos. Unfortunately abuse from people in the stands happens in every country and at every game. Just remember that these people are 100 yards away and just react because it hasn’t gone their teams way. As for mistakes, we all make them, we just have to learn from them. I hope you do well

Not "laid back" with the cards at all. They were all deserved and administered well. Take the card out, hold it by your side - now the player knows what's coming up. Better than running up and waving it in a player's face, which just causes more annoyance for an already heated player. As an aside, I noticed teams were read and green. Any refs ever have an issue with that? I have a red/green color deficiency, which makes it really hard to distinguish the two, unless I'm really close. When I reffed, I used to explain that to the teams and by and large they were fine with it, and one of them changed. Had the occasional moan about it, including that I shouldn't ref with a "handicap."
I’ve never heard of any refs having issues with those colours but explaining it to teams before the game is probably the best thing to do and anyone who makes a comment on it should take a long hard look at themselves
Sunday League players have become the biggest girl's blouses since I played a little back in the 80s and 90s myself before I was a ref. Very tame stuff producing ridiculous OTT reactions like the babies in the Professional game nowadays. I won't comment on your yellows as although one or two looked harsh on camera it's always difficult to tell unless you are close up.
15:59 the number 12 for PRY isn’t a foul, no question asked. Number 14 for PRY I would have give a red for high boot on a challenge is is less than 50/50 as OMN player has moved himself infront of the ball which makes is harder to get to. Keeper challenge (1) is a yellow. The build up to the red, when the PRY player goes down, I would have waved it off, keeping in mind possible simulation, then when the red occurred (I believe is yellow as a 50/50 ball could have been won) booked that player. I believe you were very lenient for the dissent of players and managers. When you narrated saying blowing whistle too early, I would have definitely played on, if ball went to opposition I would have brought it back (within 30s of challenge). Kick out too hard to decide. I definitely would have talked to assistant. From camera looks like an accidental mistake as his legs are pulled by gravity. So no other discipline needed.
I thought if the ball hits an object on the pitch it’s play on? I remember the beech ball incident at Liverpool and that was play on? Had an issue this morning refereeing and it hit a tree branch from a throw in but I let play continue is that not right?
@@RefsWorld I don't think so, we only played on it once this year first game of the season against Afc Roza and it was absolutely horrid, think the league must have just given up on it because it was painted as the new home of the Barnet League
Typical Sunday league players with no idea how the rules are. They're saying "it's a 50/50 ball". Lets take it to the extreme here.....if it is 50/50 but player studs him in the face, should it not be red because "it's a 50/50"??? Such a stupid saying. Don't know how you can complain about that one lol
A 50/50 ball is a real thing, and means a player has a right to challenge for the ball like any other player. The first attempt at about 17:40 is a great example of a player making an attempt on the ball in a 50/50 situation and being REALLY unfortunate with getting booked. Made every attempt to ensure the safety of those around, kept his studs down, was clearly making a play for the ball, wasn't reckless, no excessive force, and, well, to be blunt, football is a contact sport, and there was contact. The second one has one, glaring difference, but it was still a 50/50 ball. Being a 50/50 ball doesn't negate a players responsibility to keep his body in check an ensure the safety of others. He went in, sure maybe to play the ball, but did so extremely dangerously. Studs clearly showing and elevated. At 18:35 I paused it, full on studs up challenge flying into the keeper. Clear red for dangerous/reckless play.
@@RefsWorld Clumsy can mean a card can't it? If not then I do feel he went for the ball. his studs were up but maybe out of protection? I'll stick with a yellow

Too many un-necessary bookings given in this game. All started with a nothing challenge on 14mins which was never a yellow. You've set the tone for the game then! In reality probably only 2 were actual yellows. The red was never a red and giving a yellow for the foul on 18 is embarrassing. This all supposedly from someone who has played the game....?
The yellow on 18 mins, your commentary even confirms shouldn’t have been a yellow… As for the red, firstly you were nearly on the halfway line. Also looked to me like a genuine attempt for the ball. You said impact above knee which it was but keepers was on floor. In real time, can see why you gave it but in video, decision seems harsh. Not to worry, keep up the good work and stop dishing out yellows too easily for no reason.
@tonyponnou1442 100%! Extremely harsh decision on the attacker and completely accidental but happy to admit that. Other’s like the 8 where he just kicks him, lefteris for persistent and 5 for delaying the restart. Again I agree it was a genuine attempt for the ball, it’s there to be won but he’s missed it, studs are showing and he’s caught the keepers thigh. I know the keepers gone down but would you say the same thing if he caught the keepers head? Thanks for the feedback. See you at the final
Red was spot on good decision, all your cautions were needed to control the game from tipping over so also spot on.
