You call them ‘controversial’, while I call it infuriating… 10€ per drop pod is ludicrously expensive =( Great video, though, I love it that you find time to keep us posted!
Those pods do look very cool, but I can’t justify getting more than one box to make sure that the scale is dead on for my printer. GW has really made this game stupidly expensive to get a force on the table with any variety
Compare it to the Arvus Lighter kit which has two sprues that are just as densely populated but it comes with ten 40mm and a load of clear plastic flight stands. This box doesn't have any of that extra plastic. They could have put a third sprue in the box.
I think that providing detail is important even at this scale. Not everyone buys LI just for playing, but also for collecting/painting/creating dioramas, so the detail is important, rather than just providing outright mass just for gamers. It's very pleasantly surprising what GW can do on this scale. However, regarding this kit, I guess that GW could have put a 3rd one, it would have been more balanced in terms of cost.
I think the drop pods should be fixed open. It wouldn't save as much sprue space, but it would help. And once a pod has landed, it does stay open. They could also have put in an extra sprue or two. I know they might worry about setting a precedent of showing thst they can offer more for the same price at very little cost to themselves, but they do already let game rules influence price and i think people would genuinely see drop pods as a special case.
I can understand how a players would love to have more drop pods per sprue, but for a collector as me I'm pretty amazed and excited of the level of detail and I totally wanted hinged doors. Thanks for sharing the unboxing, mine are still not arrived.
I’ve got a theory. As you pointed out on the back of the land raider box it’s Death Guard an Iron Warriors. The termites recently previewed are also in IW colours. The studio tends to use the models in promo pictures, my educated guess that the next supplement book will be Tallarn. IW vs Imperial Army
Back during Aeronautica Imperialis I wrote up rules and scenarios for drop pods, so I actually printed a few for that game. But they honestly kinda suck. I got two sets of these new ones, I just love my pear/tear shaped angry boxes!
Yeah the numbering is wrong for some of the items and those front inserts into the hull sides don’t exist for the land raider dont exist so the drawing is wrong and the sponson numbering is also incorrect too.
I’m not *quite* that cynical. It genuinely seems a labour of love to make these as articulated and detailed as their big brothers. I just don’t think it’s worth it for the sprue space.
Almost like they are a business trying to make money 🤔 but there’s a similar amount of plastic as all the other kits and they are all the same price. But from the point of you need 3 boxes minimum to make the formation it does suck if you want to play that formation. If you don’t ever intend to play in GW stores/tourneys just get some 3D printed ones for a lot less.
@@LItbashing I worked there for nearly 13 years. 11 in the Studio system. We built their first online store/website. I think this sort of mercenary behavior is quite possible. That said, I also don’t fault them for merely working the arithmetic and taking the most cost effective option. Anecdotal of course.
@@xXRogalDornXx oh for sure - considering they wanted them hinged and representative of the 28mm model inside, this is how many they could fit and the amount of plastic is the same. I just think wanting them hinged and representative of the 28mm model inside was a sacrifice not worth the points cost.
@@LItbashing I feel they would look silly if they were deployed all closed up and not open like a flower. Also if they are closed ‘were these ones the deathstorms or where those ones I can’t remember because they are all closed’ would probably be a common thing said at tables. At least being able to open them you can tell what’s what easily on the table top.

The tanks are my favourite thing in LI. So adorable! Great video, as always 👌

Yeah - as I don’t plan to use many I don’t *really* mind. But for gamers who want a whole detachment I feel bad for them.
yeh working doors is super cool
Lucky you. Still waiting for the pre order for the Drop Pods to go up down here in Australia. We can't even order them yet.

That would be fun…
Ahhhh I was right then. Nailed it. Tallarn it is then
@@reaverkill8905 great shout!
Good thing there isn't another transport 2 deep striking transport coming in a box of eight....
Which looks way better and has a much more fun name in my humble opinion… bring on the termites.
I guess I can use the spare deathstorm missiles on an extra box of Rhinos

The landraider instructions do have mistakes, mainly on the lasguns wronly numbered, also that inner wheel is not seperate.
Yup - I stopped counting at 9 and the mistake happens at 10 😆 That’ll serve me right for not double digiting.

Ah yes! Good catch. Interesting…
i dont think i really appreciated how big drop pods are
Expensive but extravagant. If you want to play you have to pay. They obviously know what they are doing.
