40 years later this is still a stellar jamm! I bought this when it 1st came out at the clubs, I was young, grateful & dancing my trippy head off! Love to all.
I bought this too, was so young, what great music sense we have 🎶💃 happy dancing
40 years ago and it's still going strong
The first ever Trance tune. Yes, Trance started as a genre in 1990, but truly it was Hills Of Katmandu that took clubbers on a journey into trance all the way back in 1979.
Indeed, the first Epic Trance track, and it still is today
I was around 18/19, i danced my ass off on this track, there was also another track around that time ,John Fararra, Love Attack, allthough that was not trance, it has the same high energy level as most trance tracks.

It really was a journey through that extraordinary soundscape ❤
a disco track that pushed every boundary !, they dont make music like they used to ! nothing now could compare to the tracks and work put into this back in 1979.
RAP SUCKS!!
NEW COUNTRY SUCKS!
Danced to this in Portland Oregon with Girl Friend at club Embers in early 1981.......I've been looking for the song ever since.....Darn good musicianship here.
I still remember playing this and the people roaring and having a wild time!
Unless you were in the clubs dancing your asses off, no one will realise the importance of music like this .It defined gay dance anthems and makes me know that not all disco music was bad . Songs like this and many more ( too many to mention ) will live on forever . ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Got News For You, Bud! NO DISCO Is Crap! RAP IS CRAP AND NEW COUNTRY IS CRAP!
First time I heard this was in The Limelight Discotheque in Montreal in 1980, in those days it was in the gay district, most of my friends were gay males. I was a true Faghag!
Gay music???...that music was for everyone...
Absolutely phenomenal track I've always loved it, got it on vinyl!
¡¡ It's right !!
I remember buying this album in Jeddah Saudi Arabia back in 1981. One of the most evocative of the disco records.
Fast enough trance disco jam. Like the 655 vocal femme interlude, very unforgettable. All very danceable. Sparkling and innovative disco mix. Gave Katmandu (The Break) a big run for the money. Great tempo, melodious continuity. Thanks Tantra, J. Koppers & crew. Yes! Fantastic unforgettable Euro mix. Vive les disco freaks...
Katmandu who made the Break, are they the same people behind Tantra? Trying to understand why you mention that record.
A fabulous piece of music, a masterpiece.
I heard this in a club in 81 then I found it on Google today im happy again😀
Pandemonium On The Dance Floor!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this track!!!
LOVE This one....Hurls you right back onto the Dance floor at Xenon with the flashing Strobe lights.....
Music masterpiece 🎵🎶
Greatest disco track ever. Hallowed be thy name.
Goodness! It is 5:48 am, and I just wish I had a dance partner! Sooo, that leaves me with dancing with myself. Actually, I'm dancing with my Ms. Chloe. My cat. I love this song! So many wonderful memories, and many lost friends. Remember the year. I dance to you Perry, Michael, Juan, Elliott. Bless you. Hugz.
If a really good technical DJ dropped this into a set, this will destroy any dance floor.
The Brave Bull, Modesto, Ca in the late 70's early 80's, fantastic!
That moment at 14:20 when it progresses from 4 minutes of utterly hypnotic interstellar disco back to the vocal refrain is mesmerising - like coming off the biggest helter skelter and finding yourself in a sugary sweet paradise... I wish I'd been there when people were dancing to this!!
sorry, 14:15 ;)
I heard this at Saint At Large Party at Roseland Ballroom in 2001....I thought I was in Outer Space.....
I danced to this AT the Saint on 2nd Ave back in the day. I was one of the flag dancers. When we first heard this, we went absolutely crazy!
I was. Amazing!
Ditto!!!
My favourite dance number in the late 70's / early 80's - along with The Break: Out at midnight and danced till dawn.. with a few condiments along the way - how else do you dance for 6 hours straight... the absolute best days !
I first heard this at the Monastery in Seattle. You really have to commit yourself to this one! 16+ minutes of pleasure! Thanks MDA!
Non stop dance. Free style. Flowing with the music.
Im also a Monestary alum, and i remember how goid this sounded on that incredible sound system
Another survivor of the Monastery. Me too.
MDA ! Mood Drug of America ! Then along came Ecstasy.
Wow!!!! I’m in the hills of Katmandu!!! Love it! Running 🏃♂️ 💪🏽🕺
Danny Howells Global Underground bought me here - in the 70s they were ravers too! Awesome tune
Yessssss..... Thanks to Danny for resurrecting this great track on his GU Miami!
One of the first 12 inch "maxi-single" records I bought! Hypnotizing......
Heard this for the first time today on Studio54 Radio on Sirrus XM.
@ Heard it driving with my mom, best tune I've heard in a while.
Fuck yeah, that's where I heard it too. Saturday morning bagels in November after getting off night shift.
I was around 18, and now im 60.
Still its Fabulous
Dancing to this while tripping in 1979, Brave Bull, Modesto, California 💚
5 am in NYC ,HIGH wow life was sooo good then
Yes it was my NYC friend. I haven't lived there or even visited for years after The Saint closed.Great memories from there! I danced at The Saint quite a bit to this one. I 1st heard it at Studio 54.
Take Care John and thanks for the comment :-) ♥♪☼
It was like Heaven right? Everyone was free on the dance floor !
Funhouse Classic
I could listen to this all day...
still loving this everyday in San Francisco Bay area in 2021
Great Disco Sound......the studio 54 disco Ere.
I listened to this when I was 16 in NYC when jellybean would play it blasting out the insane sound system they had.
the world has gone backwards
Hearing this on the dance floor ( 8 speaker system) with the pulsating lights in sync just sent me to another world....sheer fun at the bars back then.
The many different Instruments used in this masterpiece was magic.
Add the crimped hair girls on the cable channel circa 1980 doing there aerobics to the beat...Katmandu was a hit !
Was home a few days ago & SHARED THIS WITH OLD FRIENDS ! What memories this song brought to all ! perfect! Thx So
I was in a club in Southampton on Route 27. A barn. I forget the name of it. It was the mid 80’s. A quiet night. China Machado was dancing to this song by herself in skinny jeans and high heel sandals. This was always a favorite of mine along with France Jolie Come to Me(all time favorite) Watching China dance just made the song better.
I have this version on audiocassette recorded when Dale Winton did the soul show on Radio Trent from Nottingham. He raved about it then and quite rightly so. A stunning piece of classic disco.
How is this song even possible. Unreal
This song was already 5 years old when I first heard it but it was played all the way into the late 1980s, Phoenix Az.
Perfection ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My favorite disco track
This has to be one of my all time dance records. I have the (c)1979 Philips Records, Italy. Many think this was released in 1980, but that's when Importe/12 put out the Double Album :-) Thanks for your comment and have a great week ♥♪☮
TheEsacitsuj1 I have it.Double orange album.
What a song. People came out of the woodwork to dance to this classic. Thanks for this post.
I would go though half a bottle of poppers dancing to this at the Nightingale Club @ Aston in Birmingham! :D
FANTASTICO E INOLVIDABLE QUE RECUERDO POR FAVORRR DIVERCION SANA MUY MUY BUEN TEMA DESDE ARGENTINA 👋👋👋👋👋👋👍👍👍👍😭😭😭😭
Such an A-MA-ZING song!!! ABBA meets Boney M.!!! xoxo The Clarences
Thank you very much. This brings me back to when I 1st heard this at The Anvil in NYC down on West down & across from 12 West Club. Those were the days my friend ♥♪☮
The BEST Disco - 12 West Club.
I'm not gay but I do remember the anvil...awsome
Went to the Anvil on the regular, and made it to 12 West occasionally too! The Garage was my regular place when possible! Good memories!
WAS A GOOD TIMES, VERY HIGH PERFOMANCE OF OUR GENERATION. EXCELLENT TRACK
This Killer Disco Song Was Featured In One Of ONTV's Aerobicize Dance Excercize Videos Back In 1981.
Always played in clubs, PURE GOLD!
I used to Dj in Puerto Vallarta in the 80´s at the City Dump and Tantra was a great album to play for the dancing crowd, perfect to mix with Donna Summer´s I¨ feel love¨ and Bronsky Beat´s ¨Why¨!!!
The first time I drove a car by myself, I was about to put my CD in the CD player to play my music when this song came on the radio. I decided to listen to the whole thing before I put in the CD. I didn't get to put in the CD until I was almost at my destination
Gee this brings back memories.. of West Hollywood,,, Oddysee and Probe and Studio One and Circus Disco..
Most definitely Odyssey and the Probe!
AHHHH the good ol days and nites of 1980s LA and the I E crusin and party promoting !!!!
Rafael Razo
Yes these were the good old days music and this is one that will never die. I've seen people dance to the entire 16.20 of this. Especially on a Retro Night :-)
Thanks for your nice comment & have a great week Rafael. Take Care of You & Yours and keep on dancing ;-) ♥♪☮
Great Classic. Freddy Russo played it all the time. Love the beat.
Heard this on the Studio 54 Sirius XM channel yesterday. First time ever hearing it. LOVED IT! For a rock fan, this is disco meets Led Zeppelin's Kashmir.
Apt concept!😎
Great workout music ✨🎶🎶🎶🎵😂
I remember we'd dance to the entire 16.20 & have a blast with the lights going and 1000+ people on the dance floor ♥♪☮ Thanks for your comment♪ ;-)
Me too, still Amazing
Great track, I remember when came out they used to play it on the radio all the time. Rich on sounds and good taste.
Fantastic memories. Thank you. x
It is marvelous, ever green, ever green
My God....how I remember dancing to this. Depending on the hour and the crowd, the floor almost seemed to levitate with the sweat and the bodies.....BTW: no drugs needed!
So jealous. Wish I was around in that era. Such a magical era.
Wish I could have danced to Megatron Man and Hills Of Katmandu. :''''(
@@rick_terscale1111 you can, if you don't have massive speakers and powerful amps (lucky me), then just get some decent, over the ear headphones. try it. Greets from Sydney..
Same for me at The Funhouse 526 west 26th street nyc
No drugs? The air was filled with poppers ;)
@@richardphunt Yes....disco air freshener.
This song brings peace to all human beings ....
Oh my disco days!
I & partner seemed high on stimulants & in another dimension. Great!
Great memories. Wepaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Borinquén 🇵🇷🇵🇷💃🇺🇸🙏🏻.
loving it still in 2019....
good times remembering this, still got it, :)
Thanks...I've loved Hills Of Katnmadu since it was released in 1979 on Philips Records Italy. We'd tear up the dance floor with tune :-)
trance before there was trance but one of the best dance songs of all time for competition disco. So chill and BOOOOOMMM!!!!
I can hear my cat meoooowing. I seem to remember the Jazzersize Showtime girls on this one. Oh, nice!!!
You make a great point I often make - I don't know why trance DJs don't resuscitate this stuff in their sets. The BPMs and riffs are the same. The only difference is today's trance has more drops.
I want my 13 years old back!
Omg, NYC Funhouse disco, lights on the floor. 9th grade. I remember being w/girlfriend at the time and thinking, why would i bring my girlfriend lol. Went unfettered after that 1st night. RIP those who left me since then. Life is good.
This song always fasinates me. Its way ahead of its time.
I use to love playing this track as it was long enough for me to take a piss, grab a drink, shoot some pool, and get back in the booth before it ended. (just kidding about the pool)
Thanks for your great comment :-) I love this song still & will dance to the entire 16.20 :-) ♥♪☮
The 80's "Bar" Music......doesn't get any better than this.
I was 17 when a friend played it for me. He introduced me to Music we in our small town were behind on by 10 yrs. Listening to his albums was like entering into a whole other world. Thanks for sharing.
This was his favorite, can't wait to share it with him.
I LOVE THIS SONG FOR SURE - EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME !!
My boss used to make me play this every weekend lol.Classic.
Who remember the girls on Aerobicise on Showtime dancing to this to kill time until the start of the next movie back in the 80's?
PKOENT125 I met those women recently. And they look even better.
@@omegasharpie This track in particular meant it was going to be a DIFFICULT segment!
This particular song is quite a tripped out dance tune too! :-) ☮
Take that to your next rave party... Hypnotic and psychedelic disco baby!!!!
Heard and danced to many times at Andrews Inn, Bellows Falls, Vermont. Should be a historic site! It is a historic site.
I like this track, it reminds me of the Parties the 80s in Goa at the Big Vagator and Anjuna Beach. Boom!!! and Dance
Wonderful and hypnotic.
2021 🤩 still sounds

That's cool & Thanks 4 commenting :-) There are many straight guys I know who like dance/disco music. Good exercise also :-) ♥♪☮
I KILLED THIS IN GO-GO BARS IN THE 80'S.......EPIC
I have never heard this before but I like this record
These pieces of music some day will be recognized for their great value. The harmony and orchestration of these ‘songs’ is something that even with all the electronics of today can’t be achieved. Thanks for uploading it.
I still have the Spanish version 12” Las Collinas de Katmandu. Amazing
Great awesome sat
Yes i bought this album also, fantastic dance track. Thanks for posting.
ABS Fab, HAVE THIS STILL ON VINYL, THANK GOD FOR YOU TUBE, AS NOT ABLE TO PLAY VINYL,:)
This track was certainly a game changer as there was nothing like it, the only track similar was La Bionda 'Sandstorm' this and that made the hairs on the back of next stand on end.
