Many thanks, Randy. Glad you were able to be there. It seems this 16-bar a-a-b-a song was recorded in the key of C by Robert Clifford Brown (a.k.a. Washboard Sam) in 1940. Tuba Skinny have kept it in C. It fits (in its structure) into the same category of songs as 'Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor', which it closely resembles, and which dates back at least to 1923, when the theme appeared in Handy's 'Atlanta Blues'.
Hiya guys. In other news i found out your old clarinet Ewan Bleach is in London and has a residency in a cool club at Kings Cross so I can hear some live magic this week. Please get some London dates, please? I'm gonna request Sidney Bechet and be very happy. Lots warm regards Martin London England mx

'Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor' was reputedly in the repertoire of Buddy Bolden whose musical career ended in 1906.
