I would't say the GAZ Tiger is an MRAP, it's more like an improved Humvee. If you want a russian MRAPs, look at the Kamaz and Ural typhoon, SPM-3, and ZIL Karatel.

I've never got a bad impression from his content in the past, but this video misses some pretty important things. Such as the ARMORED 4x4 vehicles made for front line combat such as the soviet ba64 and the German Leichter Panzerspähwagen . It's not as if we have never had armored 4x4 vehicles until the 21st century as this video implies.
You forgot the G-Wagon. Thats a military spec 4x4 monster which you can buy on the civil market with not much changes to the military one. The first 6x6 G-Wagon I saw was an Australian Army one and boy do I want one

The Landy was developed by two chaps who while holidaying in Wales were driving an old Jeep. It was knackered. They decided they could fix it but realised they were British. This means they could build a car from scratch and build it better. So that's what they did, they drew a car in the sand on that Welsh beach. That's how we got the Landy.
The UAZ is actually a great step up from the GAZ. Although it's not armored like the Humvee, it's a great offroader. I got to drive a UAZ--452, and damn that feeling when you forgot the keys to the barrier that's blocking the road to the forest, so you just pull right through the forest around it without a problem... It's amazing.

There was another variant on the Kubelwagen that you missed. The Schwimmwagen was an amphibious vehicle also used by Germany in WWII and had a 4wd variant. There was also later a civilian version of the Kubelwagen. The Volkswagen Type-181 aka the "Thing" produced from 1973-1974. There were also a few military versions of what would later become the "Beetle" (then known as the "KDF") some of of which had 4wd variants.
We've owned three Jeeps, and loved every one of them. They may not be military grade, but they do what they say on the tin...unlike a lot of modern "SUVs"

The JLTV is also a big step in the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (WIN-T) upgrades the army has been working on for years now. An army is most vulnerable when standing still, so the goal is to make it entirely mobile. Wired communication is the fastest (especially fiber optic), but completely immobile and vulnerable to cutting or splicing (and yes, fiber CAN be spliced even though it's glass). Line of sight is limited by the curvature of the earth to roughly 30mi at best. Radio has limited range and is interfered with by terrain and weather. Range can be increased by reducing mobility. Tropo is cool but doesn't work. Satcom is functional everywhere but is expensive and has high latency due to having to send information to space and back as well as being stationary to maintain a lock on the bird. What they're doing with the JLTV is they're developing communications drones to recieve and transmit satellite communications without having to send it to space, drastically reducing latency and, if they've been able to solve the tracking issue, making comms completely mobile by putting satcom operators behind the commander's seat in every JLTV unit
I wish they would make Hybrid Engine Military Vehicles. They would be saving lots of Fuel, Weight and Interior Space, not to mention they would be Silent like Ninjas and won't produce Heat signatures that could be tracked by Heat Seeking Weapons Systems.

Sorta feel sorry for the Willys company. Started working on the GP (General Purpose - Jeep) in the late 30s, took the plans to the government for a military contract. They loved it so much they gave the contract to Ford. If that's not bad enough only gave Willys a contract to make trailers for the GP. The Soviets went from GAZ-67 to GAZ-69 in the 50s. Not straight to UAZ-469. It also ignores that Soviets heavily relied on APCs in places where the Americans would come to use Humvees, even when it was never designed for such use. The UAZ was more for secure locations and pulling wheeled equipment.

The Humvee is still around. It's just that it was never meant to be a combat vehicle - it was meant to be a light all-terrain truck, and it does that job just fine. The JLTV is meant for a different role, that of a light combat vehicle.
JLTV is actually unliked by the troops, at least the ones I've talked to. There's a very good chance it might just be a stop gap until a real replacement can be found.

The goddamned French had a better light armored vehicle (Basically what VBL stands for) in the 70s, with mine/shell fragment resistance, NBC protection, and it's drive in/drive out Amphibious. Before the US wasted so much time, and money on the HMMWV.
