Thank you so much Jem for posting this wonderful collection of the Dublin i grew up in, As hard as times were at times i wish i could go right back there now, I was Delighted to see my childhood and life long Friends Carmel and Blondie looking out of there window in the Diamond, I went to School in Rutland St with them, My Mam had buried my Brother Frankie aged 6 and a half with meningitis, I was 3 yrs old then in 1968, He had picked up a germ out playing with other little boys, it was air born, Anyway my Mam was scared stiff that she was going to lose me, so i was.nt allowed to have a little flask with hot oxo in it in case i got scalded, But Carmel had a little flask of oxo and during our break we would be sitting next to each other and she Always gave me a drink . Much later when we grew up they got a house a few doors away from where they lived and i used to walk down every Xmas with a card for them. Beautiful souls they were. R.I.P. my little Friends. Thanks for the memories Jem. God bless.
Yes I lived in Mountjoy Square we did not have much but we had great neighbours used to get a stone of coal from Kelly's Des, Matt,Eamonns dad and got turf from Mc Henry's with the fuel voucher, hard times but we were better for it
So beautiful! Has brought back so many precious memories and tears to my eyes . That was a Dublin of character and neighbourliness ... How we have destroyed it! ... Oh, when I look around at the pretentious abomination it has developed into 😢
Marble Hall , How Beautiful Enya sings it. When I listen I think im in HEAVEN. i HAVE MANY MEMORIES OF dUBLIN AND THE people of the Liberties Top them all. You should Check out the songs RIVER LIFFEY DUBLIN CITY and MY LIBERTY GIRLon The brienodeargain Channel UA-cam Best Wishes BRI - DAR
