The cut or thai thing is mắm Thái. Fermented fish Thailand style. In vegetarian dishes, they shred green papaya that you see and maybe pineapple, cucumber red chillies for spices.
Ko phải cá lên men kiểu thái gì đâu bạn ơi.
Thanks for including vegetarian spots to eat in HCM city!!! Can we please have more vegetarian restaurant reviews in the future? Great work!
My Vietnamese wife is Buddhist- for the past year I have been following vegan dates with her - I am so amazed by how wonderful the variety and quality of vegan food is here in Vietnam
It’s so impressive how delicious it can be
the amount of knowledge you give to your viewers ! Thank you !
I’m so glad to hear that, thank you
Your video always makes me hungry! Hope you get 100k subscriber this year! Love your video!
More vegan food tours please!
Best channel to watch while I’m walking on the treadmill at the YMCA. 😂😂😂 Love your content!
😂, glad to hear it
I appreciate this video so much!! Can't wait to try these out the next time I go to Vietnam.
you should try vegetables hot pot too, especially in Thu Duc City, where it is really popular and cheap
Mé, nhìn comment thôi cũng tự nhiên thèm =)))
I will 👍
Wow now your channel is really not underrated which is awesome
😀
i was so glad to eat vegan in vietnam. I was in haiphong to see my family. And that was so delicious.
Love this! Thanks for making it!
spaghetti sauce w/different kinds of mushrooms. yummy. thanks for the vid.
Now I want to try these veg.. restaurants..
The first spot is just a “normal” spot you will find all over the city but the last 2 are very good
If you visit Da nang and Hoi An, highly recommend to try Chickpea Eatery ❤
I do like this video, it's so great about vegetarian food in vietnam
I’m glad to hear it, thank you
That flower salad looked so good, would love to see how they made it. 🤤😮❤
It was so flavorful and interesting
love your content man, and the editing is on top 🥰
Thank you so much
Thank you for representing my culture Chef Chad.
Happy to help spread the word 👍
Love this! Excellent content as always!
Much appreciated, thank you
These dishes look awesome.
Really everything was delicious
Great video, Chad!
First time seeing and watching one of your vids, Chad. I'm very new in my education about Vietnam, so all of this is super good to know. Thanks!
Glad I popped up for you. I’m so glad you enjoyed the first vid.
It's great to watch your new video. Just wonder how you can eat all of it haha especially in Bà Xã restaurant.
😂, definitely too much
cool. thank you Chad
This was very informative.
Thank you 🙏
Great video
I am so jelly of you getting to eat all the delicious chay food!
It really is delicious
The second restaurant is definitely a winner spot 😁
Super tasty
First! Love your videos!
Thank you so much
The second disc i had in the second restaurant was nấm mối = termite mushrooms, that really famous from Bến Tre and really expensive too .
This video was the most interesting video I’ve seen. Vietnamese vegetarian food is so diverse. I think it bets all vegetarian food from other countries ❤
I agree, I am always shocked how delicious it is
Why would any one eat vegetarian anything. Vietnamese cook some of the best meat.
Looking forward to trying some of these on our next visit.
I hope you do
We checked out An, great food. I wanted to try the Phở but they only have it during breakfast but we found some delicious other dishes to try. The chè bưởi is indeed great.
Another ace vid Chad! We’ll be checking all those places out next time we’re there. It would be great to see more vids featuring veggie/veegie places and also organic places too if you can find some, both veggie/veegie and chicken/meat. Thanks!
An is really tasty, can rack up a decent bill though, but as you said Chad, it's a "clean" taste and nice change up from the usual! Thanks for the vid! Will try out the one opposite the temple in D4 one of these days.
Just to clarify did you say all these dishes are vegan? I don't consider Vietnamese cuisine meat heavy, but I wonder how it could be vegan due to fish sauce flavouring. This is the first video I have seen featuring Vietnamese vegetarian dishes. Props to you for creating unique content.
we also have vegan fish sauce too u know ^^.
@@minhhuu1781 Yes. I am aware of vegan fish sauce, but the flavour is not anywhere near the same. Hopefully it will be continuously improved. I think it was spoken about in this video. 😊Not all restaurants that offer vegetarian options use all plant based ingredients.
I don't like the taste of meat or fish, that's why I always have my reservations about traveling to Asia because even if you don't use meat, I have heard that you do use pork or fish sauces. Are there purely vegan or vegetarian places in Vietnam that don't taste like meat or fish?
@@maggie6100 Your question is a bit confusing. It's not clear if you are a vegetarian or vegan. Presuming you are on a plant based diet you might have trouble. There is vegan fish sauce these days but not all restaurants that offer vegetarian options use them. Btw a lot of people who don't like fish are afraid of fishy flavours, yet if they ate a dish with a little fish sauce would never have known unless told. TBH unless you are willing to be more flexible you will struggle. You will have to limit yourself to the major cities in East Asia and South East Asia. It seems most vegans have had to compromise with vegetarian options at times.
Great review! I will definitely want to try vegan foods. Healthy and delicious at the same time.
All are great options
Just curious Chad, how did you deal with the leftover food?
It depends, if It’s shareable I’ll try give it away, if not I’ll bring it home from there done stuffed gets tossed if it won’t be good by the time we get home
Hi Chef, thanks for your amazing video! You can also try vegetarian food at "Buddha Chay" in District 1, it's also very delicious 🎉
Thank you, I’ll look for it
Hey Chad, when is your restaurant going to be open? I will be in Ho Chi Minh in a couple of weeks

How is it Vegan if he's using fish sauce? Am I missing something?
It’s vegan “fish” sauce usually made from pineapple
So if i want to eat vegan/vegeterian food in vietnam locate a buddhist temple? :D
Not exclusively, but you can usually bet there are vego places right near by!
You can search the key word “Chay”
😋😇💛
Chad, check out Shamballa in District 1
Hi Chef......
If you can have vegan (vegetarian) mean you have a good soul.....
The people's realized don't eat any animal meat then the earth's so clean- no guilty- the animal live in peace.
Thanks for your try Vietnamese vegetarian foods.
Hope you enjoy.
Cheers.
i cannot see Vietnamese subtitle :(
I’m sorry, you should see them now 👍
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoff that's so nice sir :D
time to watch 2nd times
Chay is purely veganism. I've never seen anyone who "ăn chay" consume egg or milk. This practice is influenced by one of the precept of Buddhism, that is to respect all living beings.
It depends on which type of "ăn chay" you are pursuing. There is "ăn chay trường" (long-term vegetarian) and some ăn chay trường people i know, they eat eggs and milk as well, but not meat, fish,etc...
🙏♥️👍
@yennhiphan1584 "Chay" means "Vegetarian" that you can consume egg, milk and honey in the recipes. "Thuần chay" means "Vegan" that you can't consume egg, dairy products and honey.
Wow! Do you see places that don’t include fish sauce?
In Vietnam we have vegan fish sauce ❤
No fish sauce no life. If you're vegan, there's vegan fish dauce
I hope your channel blow up in views because you deserve it. A lot of good information! My family are buhdists so we grew up knowing these dishes and many many more. I realised the non asian, do not know about these vegan dishes. Their food is so boring and not very innovative at all. Just a bunch of vegetables thrown together in a salad. For anyone living abroad, especially in Australia, if you see a temple, you can come in on Saturday, they usually sell or give free vegan food. If you have money, you can buy to support the temple while having great food.
Thank you so much and I totally agree with you. The hood here is so much more interesting
A lot of Viet imitation meat uses skin tofu. They would wrap the skin round and round to create multiple layers, and that helps to give the tight texture. Any imitation food with 'fat' probably has some white jello like agar agar.
Goi Thai, they may be trying to tell you Thailand-style salad. Many people say Thai for short.
love your channel, seems like you've been gaining some extra weight recently
I wish eating vegetarian/vegan was that cheap in the States!
trueee
It not cheap either for Vietnamese standard here
dude this is like watching food network but back in the hay day
Thank you so much, we are working hard on these
Chay means meditation +vegan food
My mom makes vegan food a lot growing up because we're Buddhist
Chay is honestly more veganism than vegetarianism for over a thousand years due to our venerable Buddha. Even though the French brought over dairy products, we still prefer nature’s cream like coconut milk. Glad the West has finally discovered plant milks, now they just need to incorporate REAL leafy greens…lettuce ain’t hittin’ the spot.
the problem is it would raise the prices for people who already have it in their dishes
There are many reasons why a person becomes a vegetarian, not just because of religion or belief, they simply want to become a vegetarian for health and many other reasons, think further.

Sure 👍
