“This is so simple, why didn’t I think of it?”
My brain: Cause you’re not Dan 😂
I have never owned one of those cups, but everyone I know does. I have been camping on the road now for 7 months on my trip and, I have been using the old enameled metal camping mugs. I wrap the handle with 3 layers of silicone tape and do my best to keep the handle out of the flames. It works ok but after seeing this, I am very tempted to get a swing handle cup just so I can use your idea. Thanks for all you do for people out here like me.
So imaginative cup handle. Your knowledge keeps blowing my socks off.
Looks like the beginning of "Bushcraft Lacrosse" Excellent tool!
Wowak is Indian for "good with sticks."
Not to argue your point but, I have seen a translation that says it means "Great with sticks." You know how translations go, either one might be correct, ha ha.
I like the old Army Surplus Canteen Cups and Army Mess Kits and the "Forked" Limb trick is a Win Win ! Thanks for that unique idea !
Gosh I always just used my heavy gloves and/or burnt my hands. Noticed my gloves didn't last long some years. I'm an old guy still learning new things thanks for the tip.
How did I never think of this? Mind blow. All this time I have been doing it the hard way.
I just dump my hot chocolate into the fire to heat it up.
Plastic bag under my armpit for me.
Isn't that the way we all do it...whether we want to or not? haha
@@jessem_i31 exactly. lol. I haven’t tasted a hot chocolate in years. 🤪🤪🤪
Doesn’t every red blooded steely eyed bushcrafter?!
WhatintheSamhell is "hot chocolate"? 🧔♂️
😉
Great tip.
I've been doing this for years and I never have give that a thought thanks a lot that's an excellent idea
I really appreciate the quick tips! Keep them coming, you don’t waste our time and give us what we need in a timely manner!
Well...That's handier than sleeves in a vest! Great knowledge to have. thank you
Cut the sleeves off my mtp smock and stitched some loopage round the shoulderholes so I can reattach as needed lol.
Great idea, thanks
Brilliant thanks for sharing!
Brilliant, you have great hacks .😁
You are a bushcraft wizard!
Thank you for sharing your skills & insight!!
Valuable Information 😎🤙
So simple yet effective!
Thanks Dan
😊 You always make laugh! Great hacks and advice....great humour. Thanks.
Thanks Dan!
I know a lot of y branch tricks, but this one is new.
Thanks for sharing
Tu es brillant Dan, merci beaucoup pour cette astuce 👍
Simply brilliant, thank you, Dan!
Awesome idea!
Always good stuff! Thanks
Simple but useful tip
Nice hack if you need it. I keep a pair of buckskin gloves in my pack (also a couple of bandanas) that are so useful for a lot of tasks. Great for snapping up firewood and no nicked or pinched skin. I've made my living with my hands and always protect one of my most important assets.
Nice, easy, practical. Thanks!
That is a great idea
What a great idea! Thank you.
Amazing as a tip / trick. THANKS, Dan!
Bushcraft cup? Nice! All I need now is two bushcraft girls. 😊
love it!
Very good idea
Awesome trick
You only need a couple sticks, 2' long. Dont need to leave then on the cup either to take it off.
Bit hard to explain..... but just cross them through the handles and squeeze them together. Been doing it for years to take my Aussie Quart pot of the fire.
Great info
Dan , Outstanding Video Tip and Trick.
love it
Good idea that
Thanks Dan 😊 I love your videos
Good tip
Excellent thank you.
Today you are my hero
I will use next time out for sure. 👍🏻
I have a 1942 canteen L handle cup
Awesome
Great I like that
Good idea 👍🏾 ‼️‼️
👍 Nice work
That's clever.
Thank you! Great hack! 👍 👍
I didn't realise EVERYONE had one of those mugs, I got one the other day and was trying to work out how to not burn my hands, then this springs up!, cheers👍
I couldn’t help noticing, but your cup is from Snow peak. I have one similar but it’s a Pathfinder product from self reliance outfitters. I still love your show. You do a great job!! awesome instructor. If it means anything, I’m planning on binge watching your channel this weekend you’re doing an awesome job with your presentation!!! great editing I might add!!!
Nice trick
Cool video
More Coalcracker Innovation! Thanks.
Slick👍
Also works on a canteen cup with bat wing handles.
OMG, this is a D'oh thing, however I did not think of it D'oh. Thank you very much for sharing, very much appreciated! Okay, now off to Wally-world...
That's COOOL 😎
Sometimes you awesome funny. But thanks for the great ideas.
Genius
Metal coffee pot smart idea too
Thank you for that awesome hack 😮😅😊
I'd only use the stainless steel cups.
Also make a good back scratcher.
Clever
A similar technique can be used to extend the reach of an old fashioned roach clip!
Alright Coalcracker, where did you steal the idea from?lol!😂 I am going to try it on my canteen cup, but the metal hands are different from the cup he used! We’ll see! Thanks for sharing it with us!😊
Would this be easier if these cups had a top handle like some pots?
I've got metal camp coffee cup without folding handle❤
OR, you can just use copper clips that hold the handles in the use position and transfer the heat there .... like we've been doing with GI canteen cups since WW2 ....
I have avoided using my cups for heating like this for this very reason. Then I see Dan do this... obligatory Homer Simpson "DOH" exclamation!!!
Just remember to do it before putting the cup on the fire
First because im cool like that 😎
Chill dude
@akbychoice You're jealous because you aren't me
It’s always better at the Y
Been doing that for years now, since getting burned the first and only time!
What if the cup is full and heavy ? Will it work ?
2:50 for a moment I thought he was going to slingshot it away
Your now in Your Backyard 😮 Do you ever actually leave the House?
I always use 2 sticks to take pits on and off the fire.
That is a neat idea, but I still pour my drink or soup in a cup that I bring with my cooking gear.
I wouldn't think a branch that thick would carry the weight of that camp cup full of water. Would have been nice to see you demonstrate it. Or, at least caution us on the flexibility of the branch due to it's strength/thickness.
That’s the way I talk my cups and pans out of the fire.
🇺🇸
Red solo cup
🙏❤️🌲
tell me how to stick the branch in the handle when I have my cup over the fire, I think I'll burn my fingers if I have to do it while it's there
I bought the titanium couch cup. I mean camp cup that has never been outside
Ahahaha. Fucking great!! Thanks for this!
Awesome hack indeed bro! That's super cool for sure. Another awesome video as always brother 👍 💪
Silicon oven mitt time
How did we survive as a species before the “ Y “ branch !? 🤔

YYYYYYYYYYY
My usgi ss canteen cup.... Hmmmmm
And like we say here, stay in the desert
I think, this will not work, if the cup is full.
