I see a lot of comments on the color of this frame - I think you really have to see it in person, there's one at my local shop and it's totally different in person, subtle, but very cool. It has flakes of sparkle in it and changes color depending on the light - some angles more gray and some more blue shimmer. I like that it's different than most out there.
I just purchased a 2023 model, same color, size 54, in Korea. Been my dream bike and it finally came on sale and good dollar/won exchange rate so pulled the trigger. I'm over the moon. Plan to change tire size to 28 or 32 for comfort as I'm not a boy racer anymore.
have been enjoying my aethos pro for about 18months....couldn't stretch to the s-works but may upgrade my rival chainset to a red one to save weight. Extra money spent on Hyper tubeless wheels to get some aero back...love the bike...enjoyed all sorts of riding on it from Alpine climbs to dirt paths in the uk

Vittoria 30’s tubeless are puncture invincible it appears ; the sharp object attempts are sealed by the sealant. Please re view but be prepared for a wild animal.
From a positioning & rider balance point of view which plays a huge part on descents, plus aesthetics. A 54cm with an 11 - 11.5cm stem would be a better fit for you, if given your seat height & reach are correct. Former rider & team mechanic.
They are a lovely bike, I’m surprised at how heavy yours has built up though, mine is 6.1kg on Sram Red groupset with Roval Alpinist CLX wheels, and only 6.5 if I put my Roval Rapide CL2 wheels in, that all up with pedals, Garmin mounts, power meter, bottle cages etc!
I also use S-works Aethos and really love it. The only think I noticed - sometimes it is really fast but doesn’t feel really fast… Was tarmac sl7 that much less comfortable?
I love my Aethos, reminds me of an old bike I used to have called...Tarmac, yeah it was a Tarmac. Why did Specialized mess up the Tarmac, I just want a solid road bike with normal stuff
Nice bike dude. I sold a 2020 SL6 Tarmac Pro and switched to the Atheos S-Works. I have a 20 mile route I ride couple times a week, riding the Tarmac, best average speed 17.9 mph. The first time I rode the 20 mile route, my average speed jumped to 18.6mph(and getting closer to 19mph) plus the bike is so easy yo ride, tubeless tyres(Zipp 303 firecrest) make the ride sublime. I still hate going up hills but the Atheos makes it faster and easier.
@@roadccjust a question: specialized recommends a minimum insertion of 75 mm for the aethos, does that mean Liam is running less insertion or is it pretty much max’d out?
I installed the third generation of the power meter and the power keeps on dropping. Very annoying and I don’t like it at all. I should have bought the asiomas
Relatively easy to assemble ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA (note that is does not come with tools, so please have a set of hex/Allen keys and Phillips screwdriver handy). The bike weighs 27 lbs fully assembled, which is not bad.A couple quirks about the bike:- left brake lever operates the front brake (something to get used to if controlling the front brake with your right hand is what you usually do)- Shimano thumb shifters for the gears are positioned close to the center. This is a bit of a nuisance because changing gears involved taking your weight from one hand to change gears, a hassle if you are regularly changing gears. However, gear shifters positioned at the drop bars are very expensive compared to thumb shifters, so I can understand, given the price of the bikeBike is otherwise of good quality. Gears change fairly smoothly and fit/assembly is of good quality. A totally competent product for the price.
People often ask me, why latex inner tubes. I reply: have you ever used butyl condoms? Speaking of which, cyclists who 'ride' 'indoors', know it's extremely risky going TUBELESS, and it's not just about exploding sealant, that's always renewable . . . rather, it's about . . . you get it right?
I've got a Trifox x16, ultegra, and Elite Drive wheels. 6.7kg for a quarter of the price. I'm not sure I can reliable compare the ride "feel" or "comfort" so I won't.
I have the aethos in carbon color and bike is neck turner. I agree with the below comments that the bike color in this video might not be the best and especially for such a price point. Personally, it is my first and last time with specailized. Don’t get me wrong, I love the aethos but bike does not perform as compared to its price and the warranty is not good. For such money, you can get a very nice and good performing bike like pinarello dogma. I also think that the journalist in this video is not that happy about the swap:) as I saw how proud he is of having a Tamrac
I'm actually really happy with the swap and don't see myself trading it in for anything in the coming years. I've ridden the Dogma F and while it is very fast, it felt quite harsh to me
@@roadcc hi. Would be great if you do comparison videos. We as cyclist can’t not or don’t have access to the resources that you have. Kindly consider comparing to sl7 and pinarello. Moreover, do you have any news about a new sl7 soon?
The aethos is fundamentally a different bike aimed at a very different target audience. It’s a bike that could be used for races, but that’s not it’s intended purpose. It’s a bike that you take with you when your ride goal for the day is to just ride around and explore, when your destination is the riding sensation rather than the speed. I have an aethos, and it is a perfect complement to my aero bike. I use both equally, and cannot imaging having having one without the other. Case in point; I’m saying this, as a person who has owned a 2021 TCR advanced pro and a SL7. I’ll take my two complementary bikes over one single do-it-all anyday
Specialized early to mid-2010’s bikes were pretty hideous looking. Performance wise yes much better value, but all the red & black colour schemes were ghastly.
@D. W. I want a bike to look like 12K when I pay 12K. Not like 1K... Grey isn't even a paint. They need to offer better paintjobs no matter what version you choose. Nothing wrong with the red and green colors for the S-works Sl7. But the Aethos looks like a 1000 dollar bike.
@D. W. Dumbest reply I have seen. Seems like you are completely oblivious to what other 12K bikes look like. As I said look at the SL7 at that price or other brands and then compare how they look. You are the designer for the Aethos or have one or what?
@@MrVizzle he specifically mentions he's gone with the aethos frame for its classic non aero tubular design. Yet his stem choice is the complete opposite to that. Doesn't keep in line with the design aesthetic of the frame at all.
@D. W. He's actually getting a worse comfort & handling than he would in a 54cm. With a 13stem in that frame size, he's too much weight over the front end which can & probably will cause instability issues on fast descents.
