The Electrocannon: A gun powered by science and crazy.

The Electrocannon was an experiment - a hybrid launcher, using a high-voltage capacitor bank discharged through salt water. The water is flash-boiled in an instant, and the steam explosion serves to launch a projectile as in a conventional cannon. It was fired three times, then abandoned and disassembled as simply too dangerous to continue. It was initially expected to launch a hollow copper slug at a few meters per second - but the projectile instead left the barrel at a speed too fast to even see on the high-speed camera, with sufficient energy to take a chunk out of a brick wall. None of the three projectile was ever found.
The Electrocannon marked the culmination of the group's high-energy tinkering. With this project we reached the limits of acceptable safety. Without a proper firing range there's no way to even test a device like this.
