Thanks for this excellent video Stephen. I only wish my wife & I had relocated to Lytham St Anne's when we retired. It is just a beautiful world away from what is going on the former industrial towns of Lancashire.
Loved the look around Lytham Stephen. When i was a child my mum and dad , sundays after dinner used to drive us here from Bolton, park up on the front and later drive into Blackpool for a fish and chips takeaway, wrapped in newspaper., happy memories 😊
These are the places that a lot of people that visit Blackpool don't know exist and only a bus ride away. A lot never venture beyond south and north pier. Lovely town, thanks Steve.
Sirens follow you around! My wife & I like heading to Lytham on the bus (11 & 11A are now the direct buses from Blackpool, with the 11B going via Queensway) for a chill from Blackpool! There's a little restaurant we used, which you walked past but I can't remember the name of it! The Lytham St Annes Corporation trams got as far north as Gynn Square from 1924 but were replaced by buses in 1937. Blackpool had proposed taking over the Lytham trams and running through to Fleetwood but the plan was rejected by the casting vote of the Lytham Mayor. The blue Lytham, later Fylde buses lasted for many years, though, being a frequent sight on joint routes into Blackpool. Blackpool Transport would purchase Fylde in 1994, phasing out the blue livery in 1996, though Squire Gate garage hung on until 1999.
Looking sleek in the sunshine there Stephen, it's such a lovely place, I'm popping down myself to try that lovely Takeaway in the Square, another brilliant vlog bro🙂
Thanks for the video Stephen, enjoyed it. Loved the look around the windmill it's a pity they have knocked down some of the others. Good to see planters with plants in them instead of cement. You need to go back there for breakfast as very reasonably priced. 😊😊😊
'B' is for Buick! The white convertible is a Packard. 8.09: That's the old Lytham Baths building. The library is further down Clifton St. (You passed it at 20:10). Lytham is in the Doomsday Book - nothing to do with Blackpool! St Annes was built by wealthy cotton magnates from Manchester, etc. who wanted somewhere to play golf initially. Then they started to build roads and houses. Thanks for coming down our way - great vid as usual - thanks.
Thanks, Stephen. Very upmarket compared to Blackpool. Love the 1930s Buick cars. Cute little windmill. Seems a really well kept area, thanks for the tour I really enjoyed it. 👍
Loving the classic cars, Lytham was where my first job was when I first moved to Blackpool. I am thinking of moving back to the area and finding a place in Lytham. It really is lovely isn't it.
Aww what a beautiful place Lytham is it looks very posh and those houses for sale where just unbelievable not for your everyday working man 😞 and what a beautiful day as well I really love the old buildings, I enjoyed the tour of the Windmill there is so much history to read in there thanks for the video Stephen really loved it ❤
Hello Stephen. Lytham is always a part of my sighseeing, when i´m in Blackpool one time a year. But always when i´m at the windmill , it was colsed. This year i try to go to Poulton le fylde by bus. If the weather is not so good, maybe i go to Liverpool by train. Greatings from Germany
Fantstic Stephen. Looking forward to my next trip to Lytham and St Anne's and not forgetting Blackpool. Always try to get there every year when I'm home Not far from Ainsdale where my parents live. Also had a great day in Fleetwood, The market was brilliant.
Hi Stephen...Liverpool Kev here...Thank you for a great video again...Very wise to ditch the cap to avoid being nabbed by the posh police in Lytham...I actually set off for Lytham from Southport last week and had to abort due to not feeling 100%...so particularly enjoyed your video and hope to try again soon...Do take care as usual .....Liverpool Kev
Thanks Steve for another well presented Vid' . Ah !!! ,but there is a few things that Lytham has not got , That Tower , probably the greatest illumination display in the World and , the Jewell in Crown The ballroom [ A wonder of the world in my opinion ] and right on the doorstep of the Lake district . What more do you want ! Yes Lytham may have the class but not the Spirit or the Vibe of Blackpool .
Beautiful Lytham the buildings and streets are so well laid out definitely an air of opulence here in the town. Swanky and posh come to mind with mighty fine shops, restaurants and bars. If I ever make it to Blackpool I’ll definitely give it a look. Nice vlog Stephen. It was even kicking off in Lytham start of the video.🤣
Thanks again for another great vlog Stephen i hope you are well when i used to go to Blackpool for a week at a time i visited Lytham one day and St Anne's another day
Lovely video Stephen, and the weather fantastic. Do like a look around in Stringers. True a lot of people don't know it exits when they go to Blackpool they should give it a visit,St Anne's has a lovely pier and beach and activities along it.
That was very good Stephen. I remember you doing one last year about Lytham and I think it was a Friday or Saturday night and it was very quite and I said most of the youngsters jumped into cabs to go to Blackpool for a good night out. Well done.
The Clifton Arms Hotel is where wartime prime minister Sir Winston Churchill stayed a number of times. - Right at the top front with the balcony. It’s called the Churchill Suite.
Nice place to retire.Would be even better if you could fly to the Med from Blackpool airport. St Anne's not in same league as Lytham. We usually have a ride through once a month from Westhoughton. St Brilliant informative video Steve....
Great upload Stephen. Hat's off to you ! Um... I used to socialise in Lytham 20+ years ago mostly at The Taps. Great pub back then and social mix, some real characters such as Tractor Dave who did various foreshore activities with predictably, his vehicle of choice. There was always an "Elite" who maintained separation from we the "hoi polloi". Some great friends I've lost contact with. Nowadays Lytham revolts me in its ostentation. A wealthy enclave shutting out said hoi polloi. They screamed like banshees when a hovercraft service was proposed to Southport - didn't want scallies like Nick and Rob coming over from Merseyside. Fylde Council are too tight to grant concessionary passes on Blackpool trams, the only council in the Fylde to do so, no problem if you own a Porsche.
Last time I was in The Taps I met Bill Beaumont. I went on to work for his neighbours, who built his house. I met Colin Hendry a few times too & took a picture of him with his wife a few years before she tragically died after the cosmetic surgery botch.
Another great video Steven, always interesting facts you mention, many thanks and all the best Paul
Thanks Paul.
It’s lovely in Lytham ...nice places to eat and drink 🍷 and a lovely prom thank Stephen ❤️
Thanks for this excellent video Stephen. I only wish my wife & I had relocated to Lytham St Anne's when we retired. It is just a beautiful world away from what is going on the former industrial towns of Lancashire.

I often do a day trip to Lytham when holidaying in Blackpool. It is definitely a contrast to brash Blackpool.

The Clifton Arms Hotel is where wartime prime minister Sir Winston Churchill stayed a number of times. - Right at the top front with the balcony. It’s called the Churchill Suite.
I worked their back in the 80s, when a student, - I was a cellar boy, changing the beer barrels and stuff.

Deacon's Menu is the price without the zero's. A lot of restaurants are doing it this way now.
Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
Perhaps time for another Poulton-le-Fylde vlog? Rather fond of the place and a bloody good night out too.
If I go to Poulton I have to visit the Pork Shop.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool I do hope that's not a euphemism for a massage parlour, Stephen.
