    Operation Barbarossa! Great job. At first I thought 'Oh might be bit too much weathering', but it came out great. Just the right amount!

    I know it's your build, you can do whatever you want, but man, those tools being shiny silver take away from everything else. Tools were not shiny or metallic. They were finished in a type of black paint that helped with corrosion. Of course the ends would be shiny. And rust would get on them including dust . Remember that the next time.

  • @AdamMann3D

    Nice presentation. Tool colors are not correct, but overall very nice.

      Thanks, I fixed the fire extinguisher color afterwards. Do you think the other tools are off? Too metallic?

    I've only just come across your website and so glad I stumbled onto it......I watched the Panzer build and enjoyed every second of it......the commentary was great...not too long with lots of tips and the actual build impressive. I'm relatively new to the modelling world and spend time watching builds to improve my techniques and what I enjoy about yours is the way you show what you do (obviously) and say how you do it without droning on unlike others. I look forward to seeing your other builds and what's next to come. 👏👍

    Looks good. Just some tips for you to try next time: those scissors from the fenders had rolled paper handles, instead of wood. This paper was painted in a color similar to the rotbraun. Also, fire stinguisers were painted in Grey or sand, never red. Looks good. If want some talk, follow me on Instagram: @mister.studio

    Great build... just subscribed. This kit may have been the very first Dragon kit I ever built. I'm currently working on a Dragon Pz. Kpfw III Ausf J, with the short 50mm barrel.
    I noticed that your turret is missing a couple of parts. On each side forward and below of the crew turret side hatches should appear a part. For lack of a better name I'll call it a "door stopper." It protrudes at a 45 degree angle to the rear and has a pin facing downwards. Perhaps its function was to impede forward movement of the front half of the crew side hatch. Really haven't a clue.
    Dragon instructions are vague and often omit parts altogether. You'll see however the guide line that Dragon provides on the turret.
    Overall a splendid build! You definitely nailed the commander figure. I just ordered Tamiya's decals for uniform badges. Thanks for the revelation.

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  5 років тому +1

      Thank you! I see where I missed that part though. To give dragon credit, it does appear in the instructions. I mistook it for a piece that is only needed when the doors are open. I'll go back and add it on...good eye!

    Oh I'd love to have Airfix Models I built as a boy! I loved them but never gave them the respect... Just over 50 year's ago! So many great hours and pocket money spent on them every week. The kit's nowadays are so realistic after a specialist like yourself have done your magic on them.
    Really enjoyed the video... BIG THUMBS-UP ALL DAY LONG 👍😊👍

    Hard to tell from video, but I’m not seeing that a Dragon Pz3 “blows away” the old Tamiya L model like I’ve been reading. Anyone have a take on that?

    • @jamesmair4085
      @jamesmair4085 5 років тому

      It doesn't, the Tamiya version is actually quite accurate and just requires some extra weld seams.
      Also the tracks are awful

    first timer question: without a airbrush, how does the WHOLE process work? I want to build only one kit (1/100 metal gear rex) but have no idea how to paint it. every tutorial shows air brushes. something I cant invest in for one time. please someone explain this to me

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  5 років тому

      Check out "Quick Kits" UA-cam channel. Most (if not all) of his stuff is hand brushed. Youve got a few options if you dont have an airbrush. You might be able to find the colors you need in a spray can. Otherwise buying paint bottles, thinning the paint, and applying multiple thin layers of paint is your best bet to get a smooth consistent surface.

    Cool build assassin. I built that same kit years ago. I found it to be very enjoyable.BUT and I'll say BUT again. Why didn't they just give us upgraded parts instead of making us do all that cutting and rearranging Parts on the tub. That was my biggest gripe about that kit. Other than that it was awesome. Again cool video.

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  5 років тому +1

      Thank you. Making all those little mods isn't my favorite part either. I guess they do it to save money and standardize on molds.

  • @MrAlumni72
    @MrAlumni72 5 років тому

    Many thanks for not only doing what you do, but explaining it as well - most folks just gloss over the process and leave us wondering what they used, why they did something, etc.
    I really like the putty you used for the idler wheel injector marks early on (01:25) - but I couldn't see what kind it was. Having a squeeze tube with a narrow nose like that would be fantastic for me (I have degraded motor skills) - what kind is it/where can I look for it?
    Thanks again!!

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  5 років тому

      Glad you like the format, thanks! The putty I used there is Vallejo acrylic putty. I stumbled across it at my local hobby store but I'd imagine websites like megahobby, spruebrothers, Amazon, eBay, would have it.

      Actually there's photo documentation that tracks were often placed in a reverse manner. Hamilkar Barkas has a great video providing such proof... I believe it's titled 'Modeling Heresies' from a few years ago.
