Damn bro just seen this get uploaded and brought back so many memories of watching your vids learning to skate 8 years ago hope you’re doing good brother
One thing that's helped me tons is to get your body fully on top of the ledge, not leaning to the side - what you need to aim for is not being able to see the side of the ledge anymore when you're in the crook position. Basically: ride parallel like you said, bend your knees and get ready to pop, but even before you do, focus on getting your head and torso over the ledge so you can't see the side anymore: boom, you're locked into crook (or you missed the ledge and you're folded over in a world of pain - it happens, gotta get those cat reflexes to elegantly bail when that happens, lol)
Never thought I'd see someone wearing a pair of grasshoppers again. Love it. Even though i always thought they totally sucked for flip trucks (aside from tre flips). Crooked grinds are probably the best looking grind and blew me away the first time i saw one in person. The first time my buddy and I went to the skateshop, there was a foot of snow on the ground, so there was a group of guys skating a flatbar. I saw one of them do a perfect crooked grind that blew the breaker controlling my mind/brain 😮
I crooked the New york bridge brother thanks, held on for dear life. The speed made me keep my balance. I nollied of regular tried and late front foot flip and dropped 100 feet into a nacro truck. Thanks for inspiration. Im typing this with telecentics at the hospital.❤best content since Ride days, peace! Miss the homies that did this on Diego size ledges in Cape Town. Effortlessly. No camera.
The crooked grind is my favourite trick but i still cant get out regular so im thankful for the advice in this matter! I will definitely try the nollie off the ledge/nollie out on back 50s thing
@@jann470 damn ill take mine as lucky then, i think his advice of slappy is good, but maybe pad up and try again someday, ya never know what conquering that might feel like.
So is it super necessary to learn just a nollie for all these crooks and noseslides etc..I never thought I'd get this far in skating but I've been pushing myself lately
Couple mistakes i see often, pressing your front foot to hard down (overshoot or stuck is the result) being to parallel or to angled are both realy hard to get a good pinch or grind. Not getting ontop of the ledge just kinda slide up to it make them very inconsistent, jumping to high kills your momentum and you won’t grind. For the beginning the easiest way to land is being fast later on learn to kinda nollie it out makes them more consistent and not too dependent on speed.
@@spencernuzzi everything is I guess. I remember them from the mid 90s. I liked Axion better. IPath and Axion were the two competing alternative brands at the time (apart from all the staple shoe companies) Can’t remember who was on IPath, Matt Fields, maybe Karl Watson, maybe Quim Cardona.
@@mikeuptegroveit’s about how these old brands names are being bought by companies that want to capitalize on nostalgia of 90-2000s skate culture. if Globe came back I’d support it maybe but all the models the made are ehh. DVS is obviously owned by some Chinese company that doesn’t care about skating I hate seeing them in stores, same thing with Osiris, and Fallen. But DC is surely doing something authentic to the culture more. But same story with them too, I hope Ipath isn’t the same as those other brands trying to come back. It’s obvious it’s just a licensed name to the new owners.
@@TRAVIESO_NA yeah. I guess all the guys my age finally have money and miss our childhoods. I’m bummed that they try to recreate the stuff from the past. 99% of the time it sucks. If they’d just make the exact same shit, I’d probably buy it because of nostalgia. We had all the formulas right back then, no need to tweak anything. I sorta like that guy Ben that is from Canada. We grew up at the same time so every time he talks about things it’s totally relatable to me. The IPaths here remind me of a hemp model that was released probably 96/7 ish…maybe 98. Can’t recall anymore, a lot of it is a blur now for me.
So I have a problem where I’m only good at crooking rails. For example, I can crooked a round down rail all day but I can’t crook ledges as easy. Everytime I try, I tend to stick or not lock in properly but on a rail, I feel like I can almost just glide forever and always get into the lock

my hardest part was always coming out straight. the board would always turn sideways like a quarter flip
More pressure on the heel / pinky toe should help keep the board from flipping
