I have never seen the prep for decision phase lol. Always sits forever in evidence gathering until one day it says a decision was made.

3 weeks ago I moved to Step 5 & today on week 3 of Step 5 they moved me back to Step 4. From the beginning of my claim they had my military medical records, my civilian physician medical records, I was on Step 4 forever and got an apology letter. 3 weeks ago I was moved to Step 5 & it was noted I don’t need to do anything. Then today they moved me back to Step 4. I thought things were supposed to be good considering I got messaged to update my direct deposit info a couple weeks ago. But back to Step 4. Ugh 😣, I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️ what’s taking so long, they got all the records they need.

Hi! There are three ways to check your claim status: go to your local VA regional office; call VA at (800) 827-1000; or log in to VA’s appeals tracker here: va.gov/claim-or-appeal-status/

4:10 what is your experience with increased rating claims and why they changed my effective dates...After waiting years on an increased rating appeal, two of my claims' effective dates were changed to the most recent C&P exam they sent me to.

I submitted a claim for sleep apnea, I was in the rating phase and then got kicked back to evidence review…… why when my sleep study was done by VA and I submitted that evidence “sleep study”, also was issued a cpap machine. What else possibly are they need to review. You stated that claims depend on complexity or type but make this make since, if the VA does a sleep study, its in my records and issue me a machine to sleep wtf are they reviewing now! Cause I was in the rating phase for a month now it get kicked back to this. Be honest, is the VA full of crap or is it really that difficult or are some of these claims agents still sitting at home acting like they are processing claims but really fkn off. I say these words with upmost respect.

Like anywhere else in VBA, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel with massive and frequent turnover of employees due to terribly incompetent management and brutal working conditions for employees including constant pressure to meet numbers and mandatory overtime. It does not help that with all the "working from home" all but two days every two weeks - there is no one around to train new hires and they are left to sink or swim and just kind of make it up as they go along. 😕

For example: once getting through the most lengthy steps in the process, and getting passed evidence gathering… what’s your experience on how long the following steps each can take? Evidence gathering and evidence review of course being the longest, but once passing those- is there any reasonable average amount of time for each subsequent step? I imagine there has to be some type of standard (since we’ve long heard they’re operating on production quotas) for the timeframe a claim stays in the rating phase. Or how long a decision letter takes to draft (there’s also been numerous rumors that much of it is all digitized and scanned in like bubble test answer sheets) etc.

Any guidance on approximate timelines (even their own in house guidelines) for each stage? I know every claim is different, but there has to be some baseline generalities. Most especially for things like increases and secondaries. It’s so difficult to find guidance and insight on the difference between initial claims (where it takes longer to establish Service Connection itself) and those that are just increases or secondaries. The national average timeline isn’t so helpful since it’s factoring in every single claim. Thank you for making these videos. Any insights we can get while we’re stressing this process, can help put our minds at ease.

My husband was denied for PTSD, which is crazy because the person at the C&P exam agreed there was an incident but she didn't “check enough boxes” is what we were told to approve. He submitted a supplemental claim and the claim has been in the first stage for months. It only shows submitted and reviewer examining new evidence. Is this standard? I can't believe nothing has been done at this point.

And you wonder why military recruitment is down. After two decades of war in two different countries I can advocate joining if the government isn’t going to take care of its veterans.

I went from step three to step 7 in three days. They only reviewed the claim for 2 days. That’s a bad sign for sure. That’s too fast considering I was in steps 1 -3 for exactly 60 days. It’s like they didn’t even look at my medical history or evidence. They just denied it & pushed it through. The VA claims department kinda sucks.
