I’ve had my eye on this smoker for a while now. I’ve always been curious on how it would run if you feed it small wood splits - similar to what you would with a offset.
This thing is awesome. I love running it with small wood splits but with a water pan on the grill charcoal grates. If you pull the trigger on it and order from the OKJ website use code TROKJ20 for 20% off.
I did the same thing on my last cook with less charcoal and ran splits. Worked great. I thought it would burn slower and longer with lighting from the top. It’s how I run my Bronco.
I have the tahoma waiting to be put together. I think pellet is still going to be easier as far as start up and shutting it down. But I have a feeling the smoke flavor is going to be more like the Bronco on the tahoma. I will know very soon though. If you order thought OKJ website be sure to use code TROKJ20 to save 20%
Hey im running through some of my old comments and if you havent pulled the trigger i would suggest the tahoma over pellet. The flavor is in fact more smokey and it just cooks so even.
I actually went to the store today and got everything that I need so be looking for that video next week. Sorry it’s taken so long I just find the Bronco runs so good with out it.
Ever though about getting a sheet metal divider to put in your smoke box so you can use a snake method and make the charcoal burn longer and more effecient. Also try putting a webber temp tip topper on both chimney stacks to keep even temps.
No the heat isn’t bad. Cleaning isn’t bad either unless u have the charcoal up top grilling. It would be nice to have an ash pan up top to help with clean up after grilling. But if you use a shop vac it’s no big deal.

This vid format of learning along with someone is quite cool 👌
Thanks for watching.
Ive been putting my tumbleweed underneath in the ash pan and have had good luck with it but im still figuring this thing out.

I think running it with the kingsford hickory charcoal would be a great combo
Nice grill, new subscriber here!
This thing is awesome! Thank you for the sub.
Center box looks great. I’m currently looking at the tahoma or pellet. Which do you recommend?

I bought a Looft Lighter, works great in this situation! 👏🏽 I use it on my Bronco. Something to consider.
I’ll have to check that out.
Good info! When you get it all dialed in it will be a beast 👍🏻
Thanks. Can’t wait to get it all figured out.
Have you used the temperature control fan on the bronco yet? Very curious on how well that does/doesn’t work

I have thought about the snake method and probably will give it a try.
@@rectortj thinking of purchasing one, is the heat from the smoke box unbearable when you stand in front ? And is the cleaning a pain?

How are you planning on doing a refuel? Without crazy temp swings?
Do u mean if I ran it like in this video or like I’m planning to more offset style?
Very cool info, cheers 🇦🇺
Glad it was helpful! Do you have the Marshal or are you looking to get one?
I want to start charcoal cooking. Would you recommend the Marshal
Are you wanting to grill mostly and smoke some?
I want to start grilling but I wouldn’t mind smoking also
@@angelurena1823 then yes this thing is awesome.
Thanks brother do you have a Instagram
And have you tried grilling on it already? I'm curious how clean up would be
such a cool smoker but dosnt seem very charcoal efficient i think ill be goin for a drum
if you want efficient drum is the way to go. I love my Bronco. But this thing has so much space.
Try the Kingsford charcoal, just light the coal and it will catch quickly
Bro helpful vids but work on your production and editing! And a script. Get to the point faster and stay focused on key takeaways.
Let me know if you have a marshal how you are running your fires.
You can’t light a fire from the top. Just doesn’t work that way.
So does it burn longer from lighting at the bottom?
