I’d say it would be worth getting that torn section of leather replaced at an upholstery shop. I did that with mine and it turned out great. Those seats are the best! Great find. AWD is so rare now.
Definitely cool to see someone looking to bring one of these back on the road, these had the digital gauge clusters, super nice leather interior, wood paneling on some and of course the AWD!
parents had a 94 AWD. 3.8L also. Was white with gold. Had gold running boards to. Big AWD in gold letters like wings down the side. Interior was that bright red. It would go through snow deeper than the front bumper and it would pass lifted trucks stuck on the road lol! I think you got a good gem being a T&C. Looking forward to this being rebuilt to its original glory!
oh yeah the fuel tank. We had our fuel pump replaced (died). the shop didnt seal the top of the tank right. went to get gas and the station pumped about $40 on the ground cause it just kept pouring out.. mindless teen running the pump. Had to yell to him from doors at the gas station to stop.

Never knew they made an AWD in that body style, man back in the 90s when me, my brother and sister were all small my Dad would've wanted one like this instead of what he did buy that being a used 1990 stripped down base Aerostar XL 2wd shorty. It was our first minivan and it was nice for the time coming out of clapped out old 86 Chevy Celebrity.

It's a perfectly reasonable van for $500 bucks. I live in Michigan and up here that vehicle would have been bought up pronto. My Camry has way more rust than your van and it was purchased for $2k. The hate comments don't give me any solid reasons as to why they think what they do and make no sense, claims and no reasons. Mild rust does not mean roached as far as I know. 0:48 What is this plate between the leaf spring and the spare tire? The one with holes in it ? Is that tow package ? To mount a tow hitch ? But this one have different aftermarket tow hitch? I have these plates on my 93 but not on my 95 ( my 95 has a tow hitch that wasn't mounted to these plates, and it had to be removed to mount the LPG tank ) .
What a neat van, Didn't know the T&C had a digital dash. when growing up my parents had a white '92 Grand Caravan SE. I remember always wanting to sit on drivers side with the vents in the back. Learned to drive in that van. Crank Windows and power mirrors. Don't know if that was standard for it.
I've heard they made these in AWD for decades, but have never seen one IRL, and I've worked in junkyards before, and been into Mopars for 25 years. Wait, I think one junkyard I worked in got one in, but it got instantly crushed because we were....pressed for time + scrap was insane atm, so I didn't get to look it over.
@@MNMoparMinivan Now that I've seen the decals on the front doors on yours, I think I've seen them in public before a few times, but I've always wondered what read end/etc they used. I know the Trans is a modified 41TE/A904 like all 2nd+3rd gen (I believe?), but man that rear looks a lot like an AWD DSM rear, but not quite. Is it it's own special part do you know? It's so weird to see they just basically welded some tabs onto the regular axle tube and stuck it on top! Our family has had an 88, a 98, an 02, and a 2010. The 2nd gen is basically the only gen we haven't had, except the new Pacifica.
@guerrillaradio9953 awd transmissions are the same a604/41tes used on the front wheel drive vans. They have a bolt on overrun clutch that puts power to the rear driveshaft. I'm not sure on the specifics of the rear differential except that they're are hard to come by for parts.
@@MNMoparMinivan Right, A604, my bad. So wait, it's got an overrun clutch, so it only really engages the rear wheels if the fronts slip I guess? It has traction control though...wonder how they have that set up. I guess they're relying on the overrun instead of a center diff too? Really interesting. OH, and to fix a plastic grill like that is fairly easy. Get some of the super glue gel from dollar tree and some clothes pins to tack it together overnight. Come back the next day and use plastic welder epoxy and some fiberglass cloth (just get the $5 packet of Bondo brand in the auto body section at walmart if you don't have any, it's actually pretty decent quality) and reinforce it on the back. I've done grills, interior panels, even dashboards this way, and they've lasted for years. hth

Woah 1:02:34 I need to try a refill of the A/C on my 93, what type of can would you advise to me. Some of them have A/C oil in it I think , but the right amount of oil has to be inside the system? Have to try. if it might work it would be a cheap fix.
@selenelacaze9883 obviously it's not the "correct" way to do it but it usually works as long as you actually fix the leaks. My system already had pressure in it which means it's at least mostly sealed. Temperature dependant your low side should be between 30-40psi running. Non-rear ac vans take 24oz 134a and rear ac models take 36 or 48oz iirc. If the system hasn't been apart, there's already pag oil in it. They make some first charge cans with an extra shot of pag oil but I don't use those unless I'm hitting a compressor that hasn't spun in awhile.

Or a recharge and check if there is pressure still inside. I watched some video about how to do that right. One day I will get the complete stuff with the low side et high side pressure gauge etc.
One of the of the oddities I’ve got to wonder is why does this have an overdrive off button and a 3 in the PRNDL that I would think does the same thing or am I wrong?
@markryl-kuchar2373 technically no. Consider overdrive "5th gear". Having an OD off button allows use of the 4th gear while towing. That is my understanding. There's better explanations of the overdrive function online.

The plastic fuel tank in a second gen van threw me. I never realized... Interesting enough most come to expect a plastic tank in any van 1996 after, but the Chrysler Pacifica (minivan) hybrid comes with a metal tank and non-hybrid is plastic. Maybe the metal tanks handle thermal runaway of batteries better - dont know.

Did not know the Pacificas still had metal tanks. I expect pretty much any passenger vehicle after 2000 to have plastic tanks. Good theory.
