Two things were very bad about this car, fuel economy and its addiction for oil.
That is not bad, a quart of oil every 1500 to 2000 miles is not bad. It was not made for gas mileage, that are for Corolla and Hyundai owners. I can get 24 MPG at 70 mph in hilly New England.
Please… don’t make its oil consumption sound like a defect; its rotary engine was specifically DESIGNED to inject oil in and around the rotor seals. So of course it consumed oil - it was supposed to. Not the same as a poorly designed, outta whack ordinary engine that drinks oil. Not in the least.

Great looking car that ended up being a super unreliable POS
unreliable for those not knowing how to maintain the rotary engine with proper maintenance i have seen a rotary mechanic get one to 300,000 km before needing to get rebuilt
@@mdelite5297 - holy fuck, mine hasn't broken down yet and I brought mine about a month ago with 41k miles, the previous holder of the car said he pays about 900-1000 every year for the car (fuel,insurance,etc) he told me exactly how to take care of it so its in good hands
2004-2006 models and you'd be correct. Anything newer than that and you're wrong. The only issue is the amount of money you need to spend on gas and oil, even though it's better than previous rotaries.

@@TheDevilZii what's different about the 07-08? Besides keyless entry I thought they were the same. I know the 09-11 were updated but I thought there wasn't major mechanical changes in 07. I'm looking into buying a rx8 this year and I much more prefer the exterior and I interior of the pre 09 models but I know under the hood the 09 + is improved. Any info would be appreciated thx
