I think you’re right on point I don’t think a woman should have to have a deep justification for the way she feels there doesn’t have to be one other than just because
You and I having the exact same review for Magnolia Parks was not on my 2024 bingo card but I couldn’t be happier about it. You saying “Being known like that is just so special” was my exact response. I am so happy I get to connect with you on this one!
Omg Rob doing his best to keep Evocation in frame is the “if he wanted to, he would” that we all needed to see. Yes sir! 👏 Look at that. A man getting a round of applause from me in 2024? Groundbreaking.
You loving Magnolia Parks (and me fully predicting you would) is the best thing to happen this month, so excited for you to read the rest of the series
Your reactions to My Husband and Magnolia Parks are killing me. 😂 I’ve been avoiding Magnolia Parks for a year now, so I guess I’ll read it because you made it sound more appealing. 😅
magnolia parks is SO GOOD! and the audiobook is so freaking good 😩 please RUN to read daisy hates!! it jumps POVS and they have 3 narrators in the audiobook. im so obsessed with all of the characters 😭
When I saw your polls on Instagram I had a feeling you would like magnolia parks (even though I haven't read it myself lol) because there's a level of entertainment that you're looking for😂. And I will say, your reaction and review has me pushing it to the top of my tbr 👀
you enjoying magnolia parks made my whole year. i LOVE your content and recommendations & opinions on books so much and really respect you as a reader. this series is so so special to me and based off of the premise, i didn’t think it would be life changing like it was. i hope you continue on with the series! i really think you will enjoy daisy haites & meeting our new characters in there. the rest of the series gets so deep and so raw and so much happens. so much pain and then equal healing and joy. so much love and mistakes and real life human experience meshed between these unrealistic socialite lifestyles it’s just incredible 🐝❤️
I’m shocked but so happy you enjoyed magnolia parks! I loved it. I think you’ll enjoy Daisy haites too. It’s a bit perhaps darker? More dry humour. It’s so fun. Another great video. Thank you!! Sending love ❤
As someone who also doesn't usually like romance , I loved the Magnolia Parks series. I was one of the people that voted that I thought you would love it since I could see you liking it for the same reasons I did. The later books get even better!
Running out of Spotify reading hours and refusing to pick up the physical book is so real - I often steal my partners phone to use up his hours if I’ve committed to the audio book!
I am STUNNED by your reaction to Magnolia Parks. But also, I'm excited for you because I feel like MP2 and MP3 are just... incredible. And I'm a Daisy girlie so hopefully you like Daisy Haites also!!!
no bc you liking magnolia parks has been such a cherry on top of the cake for my birthday lmao i’m sitting down to do my makeup for dinner and hearing you talk about magnolia parks is such a treat
omg so glad you enjoyed magnolia parks holy shit! the entire series is beautiful and wrecked me completely in the best way, i wish i could read them for the first time again, jessa hastings' writing is so beautiful and i agree the audiobooks make it even better.
This made me feel so justified in my feelings on My Husband. I had seen so many rave reviews and so many people tell me I'd love it, and I read it and was like... what is the plot??? I don't care because there is no plot???
I am SHOOK that you loved Magnolia Parks! I voted on Instagram that you would hate it, but I’m screaming with joy that you loved it! You described it perfectly, and I hope it gets into more people’s hands bc this series is one of my all time favs!
Okay Kayla, you’ve convinced me!!! I’ll read Magnolia Parks. I’ve seen so many people liking it, I’ve been highly considering it, but something has kept me from reading it. It’s strange because I tend to read more romance and less thriller but we tend to align on our romance tastes. Most of the time I’m meh on them, but I’ve read ones you’ve really loved and really like or loved them.
Spotify needs to increase audiobook time to 20 hours. It’s almost impossible to find a book that is 15 hours and I get so frustrated when it cuts off right near the end.
Katie colson is going to LOVE your review of magnolia parks 😂 Also you literally just proved your theory once again that your taste is the opposite of Jan agaton's with your review of my husband compared to hers! Oh my God I need to get off of booktube...
I loved My Husband but can totally see why people wouldn't like it. However if you decide to try and find a person obsession book you'd like, then I'd recommend Letter from an Unknown Woman by Stefan Zweig. Which is far superior imo (it's part of a short story collection btw)
Rob saying « uh oh » after Kayla said that people compare the book to the raven cycle and saying that the series is perfection shows that she has trained him well 😂
I already thought Eileen was a little too gross with bodily function descriptions, so thank you for letting me know that Lapvona is definitely not for me. I wish Otessa Moshfegh had more books similar to My Year of R&R, but like you mentioned, it seems that each of her books are all super different from each other.
As someone whose been putting magnolia parks off you convinced me to give it a chance lol. I also am torn on lucy undoing as i was eh on Hide but liked mister magic(--highly recomend as it kinda gave me wonder state vibes) but not as sold on Lucy as Magnolia 😂😂
omg, I've been hoping you'd read 'lapvona,' I'm really glad you did! just for selfish reasons lol, because I adore it it's a weird one, I've found it best to view it through an absurdist lens. like, the whole book is just inherently ridiculous. it plays upon the dichotomy of being absurd while also being incredibly graphic and repulsive. there's a kind of farce comedic element as well, which could be off-putting given how dark it is. I don't know, I think it's wild. I also really liked 'death in her hands,' she's undoubtedly a super talented author
Pausing at the 10 minute mark to add my experience with another book that has somewhat similar issues, but IMO is handled MUCH worse. An engaged couple talks themselves into adding a third for fun, just to spice things up. He's an old friend of the mmc. Turns out the friend was always in love with mmc, and mmc was in BIG denial about being bi and sort of in love with him. They start hooking up behind fmc's back, against the agreement. Not to worry though, since mmc insists "it's not gay." Poor fmc, from her perch in the dark, is starting to catch feelings and thinks about discussing a potential poly situation with fiancé, when OOPS! the two guys decide they're in love and kick fmc to the curb. No hard feelings though, because fmc is happy for these cheaters who made her an unwelcome 3rd wheel in her own relationship, presumably because they're living their truth. Girl. You can be an ally without supporting shitty behavior, but okay. Rarely does a book make me angry, but this one really did, and it made me drop the whole series. I have a pretty scathing review on GR that was cathartic at the time but I guess I'm still salty. 🤣
My little town has a NAHL team and we have kids hockey now! I keep getting excited for my kid to get a little older and enrolled….and then I am reminded that hockey is a full contact sport. With concussions. 😩😅
I kinda love that you loved Magnolia Parks even though I’m not interested in it 😂 mostly because my own taste has through lines but so many wild cards it’s still unpredictable. I think that makes reading fun! What a fun video.
Liam sleeping with his hockey stick omg that’s so cute. Anyway as someone who is ashamed to say I love Chuck and Blair despite the extreme dysfunction… I may have to read Magnolia Parks, even though I don’t normally like romance. I’m really curious now….
I am so glad that you read and loved Magnolia Parks! I’ve been wondering what you might think of the series. Not gonna lie I definitely thought you would really hate it but was secretly hoping you would love it.
37:07 Lmao in that exact moment I was scratching my eye You liking Magnolia Parks was such a big plot twist, I'm not gonna lie but I'm really happy for you!
I am SO excited you liked Magnolia Parks!! Those books are so special to me, I'm so excited you're gonna be continuing the series! My personal favorite is MP2 (the third book in the series) and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it
OMG! The way I didn’t know Earthlings had so many warnings/problematic topics! I saw it in a cutesy tiktok ages ago and had saved it to read it with basically no knowledge of the triggers. Good God! 😐
When I heard that Evocation was pitched as similar to Raven Boys I was a bit worried, but learning there’s a polyamory and seeing Kayla give it 2 stars makes me more optimistic. After all I feel like the two of us have completely opposite tastes when it comes to fantasy. On the other hand when Kayla said a book is weird and not for everyone I immediately get it (Knock, Knock Open Wide is amazing read).
Very intrigued to read Magnolia Parks because everyone makes it sound so entertaining. I’m not a romance reader so idk if I’ll like it but I wanna try.
I’ve never understood your taste (I mean that with love and light) even after watching for yearssssssss. This video just reinforces that. Magnolia Parks being almost a 5 star is killing me lol.
I'm so glad you liked my title for your video idea! ❤❤❤ Happy reading! 😁
😘😘😘
I am also so glad you liked this title and did it 😂
I was so excited for you when I saw she used this title!
Kayla: "people compare it to The Raven Cycle"
Rob: "uh-oh"
"Liam made it to the third tryout... so did everyone else" made me chuckle lol
2:10 the S in S.T. Gibson stands for Saint as that is their first name so Rob was right lmao
😯 omg I'll have to let him know
Although ST is the abbreviation for Saint anyway
I think you’re right on point I don’t think a woman should have to have a deep justification for the way she feels there doesn’t have to be one other than just because
Rob saying “Oh sure!” is the most canadian thing to ever happen on this channel
First thought I had 🤣
Yes!
I know, right😅
@@aprilhutchens2105same 😂😂😂
You and I having the exact same review for Magnolia Parks was not on my 2024 bingo card but I couldn’t be happier about it. You saying “Being known like that is just so special” was my exact response. I am so happy I get to connect with you on this one!
I think it's official: Kayla cannot be predicted.
The results of this vlog is truly the plot twist of the century😳😂
I'm absolutely losing it at "the grape scene" being a literal grape 😂
read the forbidden book Magnetic Aura on Borlest, and you'll see the secrets they're keeping from us.
I'm so sorry, but I can't take a love interest named BJ seriously 😭
What a plot twist that magnolia parks turned out to be the winner
Recommending books that another person will love is actually harder than it seems
Omg Rob doing his best to keep Evocation in frame is the “if he wanted to, he would” that we all needed to see. Yes sir! 👏 Look at that. A man getting a round of applause from me in 2024? Groundbreaking.
You should do a video of Rob picking your TBR!
You loving Magnolia Parks (and me fully predicting you would) is the best thing to happen this month, so excited for you to read the rest of the series
“no one is more sad than me” false 😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔
ily and was devastated for you to find out all my thoughts 😭😭
Your reactions to My Husband and Magnolia Parks are killing me. 😂 I’ve been avoiding Magnolia Parks for a year now, so I guess I’ll read it because you made it sound more appealing. 😅
This video truly felt like Kayla was just listing my reading red flags at me, I think I would probably give all of these a 1 star 😂
Absolutely agree with you that the beginning was giving me so much Raven boys vibes but by the end I definitely didn’t feel that way anymore!
magnolia parks is SO GOOD! and the audiobook is so freaking good 😩 please RUN to read daisy hates!! it jumps POVS and they have 3 narrators in the audiobook. im so obsessed with all of the characters 😭
When I saw your polls on Instagram I had a feeling you would like magnolia parks (even though I haven't read it myself lol) because there's a level of entertainment that you're looking for😂. And I will say, your reaction and review has me pushing it to the top of my tbr 👀

I loved Rob’s “uh oh” when you mentioned the raven cycle.
Like Rob, I also confidently said: "St Gibson" hahahaha.
As someone who also doesn't usually like romance , I loved the Magnolia Parks series. I was one of the people that voted that I thought you would love it since I could see you liking it for the same reasons I did. The later books get even better!
you loving magnolia parks means everything to me kayla… you’ll love it even more as the books continue!!!!!
I actually loved “my husband”, but I must agree, finding out in the epilogue that we were in the minds of fish or robots would’ve been pretty cool.
@Milabooklover77thanks for the rec but after a quick Goodreads lookup, that’s gonna be a no! Super low average rating, low readership, bad reviews.
Running out of Spotify reading hours and refusing to pick up the physical book is so real - I often steal my partners phone to use up his hours if I’ve committed to the audio book!
It's Sunday night here, my mood is not great before Monday, and this video is there to save me. ❤️ I love the length of it!
You went with that title!! Lmao
i am not emotionally prepared to watch you review magnolia parks
I love that you love Magnolia Parks, every book in the series was 5 ⭐️ for me but the 5th book is the absolute best!
I am STUNNED by your reaction to Magnolia Parks. But also, I'm excited for you because I feel like MP2 and MP3 are just... incredible. And I'm a Daisy girlie so hopefully you like Daisy Haites also!!!
I was literally just going through your channel for a video to watch as I was about to make dinner. 😆 Very happy this dropped now!
no bc you liking magnolia parks has been such a cherry on top of the cake for my birthday lmao i’m sitting down to do my makeup for dinner and hearing you talk about magnolia parks is such a treat
@Milabooklover77 okay wait i love! adding to the tbr
omg so glad you enjoyed magnolia parks holy shit! the entire series is beautiful and wrecked me completely in the best way, i wish i could read them for the first time again, jessa hastings' writing is so beautiful and i agree the audiobooks make it even better.
This made me feel so justified in my feelings on My Husband. I had seen so many rave reviews and so many people tell me I'd love it, and I read it and was like... what is the plot??? I don't care because there is no plot???
omg when you described magnolia parks as 'georgia nicholson aged up' YES
I am in shock but also deliriously happy you enjoyed Magnolia Parks! Looking forward to you reading the rest of the series now!
the ONLY booktuber to convince me to read Magnolia Parks and not even a romance booktuber at that hdksksjs 😭
So surprised about the Magnolia Parks liking! I am so happy for you. I love them.
I am SHOOK that you loved Magnolia Parks! I voted on Instagram that you would hate it, but I’m screaming with joy that you loved it! You described it perfectly, and I hope it gets into more people’s hands bc this series is one of my all time favs!
Those hockey moves! 🏒🔥
Magnolia Parks.. Wow okay i am SAT
25:20 the polls aren’t there :(
I thought I was going mad, glad it wasn't only me who noticed 😅
I know 😭 I added them in a few minutes later though!!
Okay Kayla, you’ve convinced me!!! I’ll read Magnolia Parks. I’ve seen so many people liking it, I’ve been highly considering it, but something has kept me from reading it. I’m part of the 13% of people who said you’d love Magnolia Parks on the poll and I feel so vindicated 😂
Yesssss 🤗🤗🤗
Katie colson is going to LOVE your review of magnolia parks 😂 Also you literally just proved your theory once again that your taste is the opposite of Jan agaton's with your review of my husband compared to hers! Oh my God I need to get off of booktube...
Can't wait for your thoughts on "My Husband". That shit was unhinged.
I think Jessa’s writing is so beautiful!
Evocation naming the main characters Moira and David makes it impossible for me to read it without thinking about Schitt's Creek
Earthlings is one of my favourite books 😳🥲
I read Magnolia Parks and described it as "Blair and Chuck on steroids". And I stand by it.
I've repeatedly delayed my Libby hold of Magnolia Parks for ~6 months but I think you've convinced me to actually check it out next time
"Demure" 😂
I feel the same way about the tiktok marital social experiments. Like I have a great husband so maybe I just don’t get it, but… communicate?!
I loved My Husband but can totally see why people wouldn't like it. However if you decide to try and find a person obsession book you'd like, then I'd recommend Letter from an Unknown Woman by Stefan Zweig. Which is far superior imo
(it's part of a short story collection btw)

I love you proving everyone's guesses wrong so much lol
I already thought Eileen was a little too gross with bodily function descriptions, so thank you for letting me know that Lapvona is definitely not for me. Loved this concept and execution!!
I loved that you used the title suggestion from one of the past videos 😂😂
can't believe I lived long enough to see Lala enjoy 'magnolia parks'! truly baffled!
omg, I've been hoping you'd read 'lapvona,' I'm really glad you did! just for selfish reasons lol, because I adore it
it's a weird one, I've found it best to view it through an absurdist lens. like, the whole book is just inherently ridiculous. it plays upon the dichotomy of being absurd while also being incredibly graphic and repulsive. there's a kind of farce comedic element as well, which could be off-putting given how dark it is. I don't know, I think it's wild. I also really liked 'death in her hands,' she's undoubtedly a super talented author
"it feels like watching performance art" is exactly how I felt about Big Swiss! I couldn't have described it better lmao

And again, Lala sneaks Dettune into her video 🦇
You enjoying Magnolia Parks was not on my 2024 Bingo card
I kinda love that you loved Magnolia Parks even though I’m not interested in it 😂 mostly because my own taste has through lines but so many wild cards it’s still unpredictable. I think that makes reading fun! What a fun video.
i feel like evocation makes a lot more sense after having read odd spirits the prequel novella
Liam sleeping with his hockey stick omg that’s so cute. Anyway as someone who is ashamed to say I love Chuck and Blair despite the extreme dysfunction… I may have to read Magnolia Parks, even though I don’t normally like romance. I’m really curious now….
I gave My Husband a five star and can confirm I loved it for the same reasons that you didn’t 😂
i’d do anything for a full video on the three books in the magnolia parks series please i beg i plead, it sounds so fun ❤❤❤
Haha not Rob saying ‘uh ooh’ when Evocation was compared to the Raven Cycle
I am so glad that you read and loved Magnolia Parks! I’ve been wondering what you might think of the series. Not gonna lie I definitely thought you would really hate it but was secretly hoping you would love it.
Dracula was originally in a pistol Larry novel, so it makes sense that Lucy undying would pick up that same style
37:07 Lmao in that exact moment I was scratching my eye
You liking Magnolia Parks was such a big plot twist, I'm not gonna lie but I'm really happy for you!
this format really suits me
I am SO excited you liked Magnolia Parks!! Those books are so special to me, I'm so excited you're gonna be continuing the series! My personal favorite is MP2 (the third book in the series) and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it

Thankyou for uploading the perfect video to accompany my Monday breakfast ❤
I just finished Lucy undying like 3 days ago and I gave it a 5 ⭐️ 😂 Kayla makes me feel like maybe I’m not reading these books right 😂
oh my god you will never fail to surprise me hahaha this video has the most plot twists i've ever witnessed
not the actual grape scene 🤣🤣
Kayla reading Magnolia Parks was not on my 2024 bingo card.
You never miss 🔥
Not you telling me there’s a love triangle in The Raven Boys. I just watched my interest in the series disappear before my very eyes 😭
Hahahahhaa the love triangle in the raven cycle will make you believe in love triangles again, promise 🤭
It’s not like your typical love triangles! I’ve been trying to find other books that have a love triangle like trc for so long now😢
FEIGNING FOR A READING VLOG FOR THE REST OF THE MPU!!! Daisy Haites eats so hard I can’t wait to read it for the first time again through you 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
rob saying demure i cannot hahahah
Can we get videos of just Rob reading to us? 😂
Don't encourage him!! 🤣
Reading Dracula but through journal entries is literally Dracula lol.
I was very curious about this vlog because I personally DNF'd all of these books 😂
