Imagine the savings you could mount up with virtually no expenses. Everyone could save and the economy would collapse. the economy only operates because we are all so vulnerable to environmental stresses.
This leads me to predict that ETs would have different economic systems because they would have different environmental stresses and different ways of responding to them. Tardigrades evolved millions of years ago and are an extremely ancient group. Over time, their ancestors developed these extraordinary adaptations as a way to cope with drastic environmental changes (droughts, coolings, floods, volcanic activity, asteroid impacts, etc.) They don't live in space, but due to their ability to shut down their metabolism when faced with an environmental challenge, they can even survive conditions outside our atmosphere when accidentally launched or released by scientists. However, their chances of dying increase the longer they are exposed to the extreme environments. Because of this they couldn't have had evolved outside our planet, because the chances of getting on Earth on an comet or satellite without eventually dying from lack of water within a few decades are low.

Fun fact: the international space station actually had some tradigrades in space, and some survived the vacuum, solar radiation and lack of gravity. A lot of them died though, and the scientists decided not to do this again, unless it is possible to avoid the animal cruelty.

Tardigrade's tun state is also seen as halfway between life and death, because in this state tardigrades are capable of hardly anything of what we see as the defining obligations of "being alive". So those tardigrades that died while in tan state give rise questions according were exactly life ends and death begins. Did they just die while being dead? And how comes the others stayed alive while being dead?

By what mechanism of 'forced response to an external stimulus?' How does the 'DNA' of a cell 'learn to respond to a stimulus unless the stimulus is a virtual 'constant factor?' Does cellular biology have an answer for this 'adaptability-factor?'
