  • The Highwayman's Hitch is also known as the Bank Robber's Knot, the Getaway Hitch or Getaway Knot. It is an exploding hitch and quick release hitch, typically used in trivial applications, and not for life support. The "Running" Highwayman's Hitch introduced in this video is a more secure variation, and even more secure is the JRB Hitch, which uses a Highwayman's Hitch inside its release mechanism.

How would you do this for the following...
    1. Single line hitch climb
    2. Use JRB running hitch
    3. Use small diameter release line on JRB running hitch for release after rapel.
    4. How to tie the highwaymans hitch to the rapel using the release line and having it still pull down the main line release....
    5. Otherwise do you need two small diameter ropes to pull after rapel?

Correct, we need something attached to the Running JRB Hitch in order to retrieve it. And i recommend a smaller diameter cord which is a different color than our climbing rope. IF you also want a removable lock on it, in the form of the highwaymans hitch, then yes, you would need a second cord and I would make that one another different color.

    Это не безопасно.

It will hold 50 pound Opelousas cat or a two and a half pound white perch on yo yo’s too!! Been tying it for years. You don’t realize how important a knot is until u are feeling rough and have to pick up 5 dozen yo yo’s the next morning!!!!
