    When I was a lad we lived on a southeast Texas bayou, and right across the way was a muddy drainage creek we could find nests and built on which led to a small lake/pond.
    We swam off the pier for decades, three generations, in fact, and never had an issue with any of them bothering us.
    The only time we were particularly cautious of them was when a hurricane came through.
    Not because we were worried about them coming in the house or anything lol.
    But often times livestock and other stuff would drown nearby, and we'd see them come on our side of the bayou more often for about a week or so after. Weren't many big ones, mostly 3'-8', but I remember one particular gator that was about 10'-11'. More often saw him around the marina, where they had a fish cleaning table on the water. But every so often would spy him down the ways by our house.
    We used to catch the Lil ones just for sport when we were kids lol. We'd let them go generally, of course. I tried to keep one in the bathtub as a pet when I was 8, though.🤣 that lasted about 2hrs til mum got home.
    But nah, we often went Wade fishing at night, and flounder gigging, walking miles down the banks of the bayou, and never had so much as a close encounter.
    There were times they would dart off the bank when you hadn't noticed them, and it would spook ya, but much more apparent we spooked them off the bank. Was a mutual spooken. Lol.

      Kyle Evans I thought the reason the gators were so aggressive was a combination of the nest and the storm I don’t know much about alligators because I’m more of a shark person, my dad made me watch jaws as a kid and it scared me so bad I didn’t even want to get into the pool to this day I still can’t swim in the shady part of the pool but I gradually got less scared of them as time went on granted You still couldn’t pay me to get in the water with them

    From what I see in the trailer (I have seen the movie though), I saw the eggs sitting there, and I didn't think the babies themselves would be any danger to anyone, I just thought "A certain momma alligator is gonna take pleasure in twist your head off like a bottle cap."

    • @jasminecollins897
      @jasminecollins897 4 роки тому +3

      I thought the same and then they just completely skipped that, which was bizarre. I was completely primed for an extra big mama to be lurking behind the nest and to get mad about her messing with the eggs, maybe even following her to get her out of her territory, which would make some sense, and then... Nope. Nothin'. The movie had basically no escalation of tension, since none of the animals behaved differently, and none were apparently actually hunting for food? They just left corpses lying around.

Having said that, I love the movie "Crawl", I even own it on blu-ray. I figured while watching it that there were going to be the "movie mistakes" that are made in order to make things exciting, they have to use some license. As for the basement in Florida, yeah even I caught that and I live in Vegas. To me, it's a great turn your brain off creature horror flick. It's definitely inaccurate but a fun movie. Since they're speculating on just the trailer, I won't fault them too much for this, but one point that stuck out to me was that they called that space a basement; that is not a basement, it is a crawl space underneath the house typically where you find plumbing and other foundational elements of the house. And the alligators got into the crawlspace through a broken and exposed drain pipe that drained into the lake

    Chris, I have a friend that lives in Pompano and he has a 4' basement. I have been in it. Storm door type access. Also, I remember Paul and Ron doing a show about basements in N Miami. They said Johnny Depps house has a basement. Only been in one. But, I can say 100% they exist.

    Okay , I watched this movie today and I don’t think you guys should’ve based everything off of the trailer. They don’t make the alligators roar, they hiss and also the alligators were somehow already in the crawl space. It would obviously be bigger if it was a basement. The alligators PREVIOUSLY laid their eggs there. Also the baby alligators actually played no REAL part in the movie, the reason they showed them is to show that the alligators were there before. Another thing, of course there is going to be blood in these types of movies. I understand this video is educational and I actually found it interesting but this is literally just a movie for entertainment, it’s going to be unrealistic and of course the directors are going to make gators seem scary when they’re not.

    • @luciddreamsasmr1152
      @luciddreamsasmr1152 5 років тому +1

      Maddie couldn’t have said it any better. At the end of the day it’s just another horror film for entertainment purposes. It’s just a movie it’s fiction.

    Director: do gators open mouth when they chase prey?
    Alligator: no, we don't do that. That's more like a shark way
    Director: oh, but that's more cool so we gonna make it anyway

    Something I noticed was how the gators went from kill to kill. You don't see them eating what they get, they're just killing for fun. There's also some minor fights with them, and the gators, while being stabbed, are still trying to kill them. No predator is going to risk injury, this movie was ridiculous.

    You'd think any film production would include a behavior specialist for animal films - or even basic architecture for local structures. Basements, in Florida, indeed. Wonder if there was a fireplace while they were at it? But, silly me, applying logic to the film industry - what was I thinking?

    I really wish Hollywood would stop creating fear around these animals. For any one that knows even the slightest bit about them these movies are not entertaining in the slightest, they're just cringeworthy. It's actually dangerous to the wellbeing of the animals, snakes and crocodilians are by far the most feared animals on the planet and it's all because of a lack of understanding and movies abusing that lack of understanding.
