Its Oscar month (kinda) so I got back into watching movies and tried to watch the potential nominees, which is most of the ones u watched too, Karsten!
    - Nomadland: Really interesting dive into the world of nomads, so beautiful and insightful.
    - Kajillionnaire: So bizarre and unique, loved it! Evan Rachel Wood is unrecognizable and fantastic.
    - Soul: Such wholesome storytelling and Pixar continues to be leagues ahead with its deliberately stylistic animation. Has Coco vibes.
    - Feels Good Man: I watched this too, does a great job in explaining the whole subculture of Pepe/memes, and following the poor creator's experience of this unintended monster he created.
    - Minari: So great, the kid is fantastic and his chemistry with the Grandma is priceless! Promising Korean nominee? (Will there be one every year as a norm?)
    - Another Round: So fun and interesting and takes a different angle on an alcohol themed movie. Epic dance!
    - Promising Young Woman: Did not expect the direction this took, Carey Mulligan is scary good (literally)!
    - On The Rocks: Was fun but not really my cup of tea. Bill Murray is great but just has Lost in Translation vibes which is understandable as its the same director.
    - The Sound of Metal: So great, did not expect the direction of this. Learned so much about deafness. Sound design Oscar worthy and should win.
    - The Trial of the Chicago 7: I agree with Karsten here, nothing special or memorable. As a Brit, not as familiar with US historic events so maybe that would help it be more gripping to those who remember?
    - Palm Springs: Groundhog Day but not Groundhog Day. Loved this so much, the two main characters are so good and have great chemistry. No fail 100% recommended great pick for a date night!
    - One Night in Miami: In a similar way to The Trail of Chicago 7, harder to relate to with US historic people/events. Adapted from play, looots of dialogue and trying to be thought provoking.
    - The Florida Project: Documentary-esk, insight into motel living life of poverty. The little girl Moonee is fantastic.
Omg why did I write so much?

I’ve been thinking about that movie a lot for some reason & I feel like it’s so underrated as far as Disney princesses go. The actual character Aurora is definitely a less developed character then other princesses but the movie as a whole is so good. The animation is so beautiful at times, the sound design is really satisfying to listen to, and there is a fucking dragon. I mean, come on. I just think everything about this movie is so beautiful. How did you give an absolute classic like The Bee movie a 1? Where’s your heart? I couldn’t imagine trying to review film so hard you dislike an animated kids movie that has some good family humor and moments lmao

Hey Karsten, I was going through your letterboxd to see if you'd seen Park Chanwook's The Handmaiden (I can't seem to remember you mentioning it in a video). If you haven't seen it, I can really recommend it! Its a beautiful and turbulent film that completely reinvents everything I thought I knew about storytelling. If you have seen it, I'd love to see your review. :)

Makes me so happy to see Taste of Cherry get some love - one of my favorites, but rarely discussed.
Also Bernie is completely awesome. I love the subgenre of "comedy/drama character studies of gay con artists" - such as Bernie, I Love You Philip Morris, and most recently Bad Education.
