I had a very used D1 back in the day that I loved, but I didn’t love the battery. 🪫 Fast forward… now I have a D4 and a D4S that I love. They are all I’ll ever need for photography.
After watching your review l bought a Mint 2nd Nikon D5 with 15,000 shots plus 2 year warranty. It's awesome Camera l just came from a Nikon D700. I hint to you, go any buy spare shutters to keep your gear running for a long time.
Vahagan I had to buy a great condition D3s prettiest color reproduction of any Nikon I ever owned. All you need to do is read DP Reviews of either the D3 or the D5 they creamed in their pants. Both of those cameras were over $4K and that’s 2009 for the D3. That sucker produced beautiful files SOOC!
I've been using the Nikon D5 since 2019 and it's a real beast. I don't feel the need to buy another, newer camera. The quality of the photos is excellent. I use all my “old” lenses. The D5 is perfect for me. And it's so robust that you can hammer a nail into the wall with it.
Vahag, I’m in the market as I type this for a D5, I just have to have it, I’m still currently shooting with a D4S, but want the D5 for its newer AF system. The 180 2.8D is one of my favorite lenses, it’s an absolute gem 💎 I find myself going the distance when I can to use it for many applications, and you just can’t beat the price of one!
There were only 35K units made of the D5 entire world. I got lucky with mine and also given that this camera was owned by such a legend photography Robert Beck. There are allot of them out there for sale. Id say take your time, look for one with low miles. try to keep it local sale so you can check it out. feel the buttons, are they fresh? maybe local retailers have some,
Love my D5!! 1. 2 million actuations. Still flawless operation. First time had it in for repair couple months ago. (Focus issue.) Z8 and D5 are the two cameras that cover all my wedding shoots. Still have my D3 and D4 but idle.
Glad you love your D5! , looking for a low milage Minty used D6 as soon as I can source one. Nikon Flagship DSLR's still perform with reliability and durability, and robustness, Ted.
Around 7500-10K units where made of the D6 compared to about 35K for the D5. Amazing how there isnt that many of these cameras out there. Even the D5 at 35K seems like a small number, and thats the entire world.
A guy was using this camera with an 85mm f1.4 otus and a Nikon sb5000. He asked me to help as he didn't know why his pics were either over exposed or extremely underexposed. I looked at his camera and his flash was in TTL mode, aperture F14 shutter speed was 1/2000 sec. Firstly I laughed and asked "where did you get it from"? It occurred to me that he didn't know how to use his camera. He kept following me aroung asking me to help him.
I love my D5, it will be some time before I can move over to mirrorless. I have a D5 and 5 lenses, the jump would cost me a few thousand. But I love my D5, so I don't feel I'm missing anything.
Thank you!! Great video 😊 I love that you shoot Single AF too! Also love that you experimented with the video! I agree its a shame about the af for video on the nikon dslrs. Pink Floyd hat made me smile 🙃✊️
The noise performance seems a little less on Z9 because the 100% magnification is over 8000 as appose to 5500 on the d5. I know how to work the z9 and wont go back to the D5. The D5 still rocks as a dslr. I would be happy if we stayed with the dslr but would have to get a d850 for higher megapixels for landscape and portraits.
Love my D5. Wish I had the D6 though but it was really a minimum upgrade. Wondering how it will do in terms of video to document my upcoming holidays. The video AF in video mode may not be the best but we'll see.
I love my D4's, sadly they all started falling apart this year so I upgraded, but honestly them or the D5 can easily keep up with modern cameras. Everyone was so baffled why was unimpressed with the current Sony and Canon cameras after using them. The autofocus was clearly ahead of its time, and the low light noise it's still very competitive by today's standards. Based on this though I may still swoop up with D5 next year as a 3rd body. Out of all the pro bodies I don't have that I'd love to own, it would probably still be the F5 though.
Great that you use the metal Nikon AF 180mm f/2.8D ED. Have the Nikon D5 and the D6. But use still my two Nikon D4 every day since 2012. Have also a brand new not used Nikon D4S and D3S. If my two Nikon D4 have no live in them. Than i only use my beloved Nikon F5.
I have been using its little brother, the D500, for years. It's a great, well-rounded camera with excellent AF. It's just broken down a few months ago to the point that it isn't worth the repair (economocally). So I took the opportunity to switch to Zf. It's good overall, but it's AF works poorly in some specific situations, especially in an extremely low light. D500 works well in this situation while Zf fails to focus most of the time. Still looking for a good deal for used Nikon DSLR as back up, either D500 or D850 would be great, D5 may be too out of budget though. The price may be close too some used older Z models, but since Zf (which is newer model) still fails me, having a DSLR as back up would be a better choice.
Man, I resisted years after years until the D6 and make the jump after the D3S 😊 I’m totally amazed by this last ever release of a Nikon D#. Not much more than the D5 in the D6 but enough to make me jump. I wish you get one, one day. Btw, please put images in your video to illustrate your thoughts. Cheers from France
Loving your content on your channel. Keep it up. I like the way you explain things. If I find one for a great price one day I will get one. I have a few other pieces to buy before the D6, Lets connect soon.
This camera is meant for hardcore shooters who needs absolute reliability in any kind of situations, rain, snow or heat. It doesnt have subject tracking but its AF is lighting fast and never misses a shot. I would honestly have no problem using this camera over a Z9.
Video focus should be irrelevant. Nikon made the D3s, D4-D6 to shoot broadcast, sports and interview style videos. A simple and now cheap wireless follow focus system is all one would need for proper video controls, even a manual follow focus.
Have a D5 and Z6ii , for me and my bad Eyes a big advantage of the Z is the viewfinder with the possibility to see the menue in it-without to use glasses. But when it comes to a muay Thai fight i take the D5, it give me far better results. For landscape , architekture and so on i take the Z6,- love both cameras but they are realy different Tools
Thinking about buying used d5 with 350,000 clicks but have new shatter actuator for $2400 aus dollars or buy use d850 2800 aus dollars. Still not sure….,
