    Another tipvfor placing a dev bomb is to do it in an area where it can easily spread to your high dev provinces or to a lot of provinces in general. Provinces that border 2 or more bodies of water are great for this, because you get a spread along a big coastline (which are often better provinces anyway).

    The new golden bull of "Cardinals spread institutions" has largely made it redundant to dev institutions as a European, as Cardinals will spread the institutions super quick (like +3 per month) and the Pope always picks it if the institution is new.

    The province does not need to be in the capital area for any institution to spawn, does it? It just needs to be connected to the capital which means if your capital e.g. is London, you can't spawn it in Paris or any other mainland outside of Britannia.

    One important thing to remember about developing an institution outside of Europe: Only do it if you can hoard it and keep it away from other nations. Otherwise, you just handed that institution to them for free while you spent 2000 mana to do so. If you can't keep it away, it's better to just take the penalty and keep up with tech enough to survive until Europe brings to you for free. If you can play keep away then develop every time, you'll outpace your enemies and eclipse them in tech.

      Do u mean like on an island ?

    • @catalin8144
      @catalin8144 4 роки тому +1

      That is not true, by developing you also improve a province giving you more money, and the only tech that you have to keep up with really is military, so I would develop using admin and dip mostly and fall behind in those techs for a bit, picking them up later with neighbor discount

    • @lostfan10000
      @lostfan10000 4 роки тому

      @Michael Yes, my point was that by the time the institution would eventually spread to them you've utilized your tech advantage to conquer them. This is why countries like Korea and the islands in South East Asia are great for developing institutions, you can get the tech advantage, a well developed province, and it is far easier to keep away from opponents. Compare this to places like India where you're much closer to Europe and your institutions will much more easily bleed into the many countries around you. This isn't an area where developing is as useful. I recommend Reman's Paradox for an ingame explanation for what I'm talking about.

    Started as a custom Western Australia nation, was stuck on Feudalism until 1750 due to being so isolated and it costing over 1,000 points to get a tech increase. Level 20 military French vs my level 7 military = disaster. But you can get more than 1,000 monarch points which is cool, most I needed to level up I think was 1,400.

      The source of the spread is not relevant. The policy is effective even if you do not have any friendly province modifiers but you meet other conditions of having free spread, for example having a manufactory for the Manufactories institution.

    BE CAREFUL. It is worth noting that increasing development in a province by other means, such as pillaging enemy capitals or concentrating development doesn't count toward developing the institution. Just because it makes your capital province's development go up doesn't mean that it will help you to develop the institution in that province.

  • @Dismitum
    @Dismitum 3 роки тому

    The 12-18 rule is dumb. Even at level 25 the total effect of the -5% of 2100 is 105 monarch points, so you're still cheaper than the 12-18 province. Important factors are the provinces trade good as you can dev push to get trade bonuses as well.

    As you said, this is fully a beginner guide, but as a, well i guess, well-seasoned player of this game I have some objections.
    1. Having your main trade node value lower than English channel in 1600 is a shame if you a)aren't playing hordes or b) playing in new world or c) playing EXTRA-wide (and yes I am ashamed of being addicted to playing tall)
    2.A good player should have already managed economy well enough that he can equip all high dev and low dev that need to be developed provinces with universities whilst doing virtually no damage to his economy. Only high dev provinces if playing tall.
    3. Get your points from the estates if you want to be able to dev institutions and remain on par with tech.
    4.The only way to get to these standards that I have put above for being a seasoned player, is trying not weak minors but great powers like england, france, muscovy, castille, then lower powers like austria, hungary, poland and who knows, maybe sweden or papal states or venice and then the minors with GREAT potential like brandenburg, teutonic order, if you like self torture sure, do byzantium, maybe milan or even desmond and after that, sure, do Ulm or Nuremburger or something like that.
    For nr. 4 i just gave some examples, maybe you don't like france england or russia, just find a powerful country that you like, and i do not sugest a FULL 1444-1821 campaign with all those countries. And if you keep losing and keep losing, I hate to break it down to ya but it's you that sucks, not the game, so change your way of playing or stop being angry at the game and just play kebab.
