Imagine how dark and messed up an arc has to be that the bezerk anime wont even touch it. They litterally show guts being raped as a CHILD but this was too much? But i get it.
Let's just say, Adult Attack is probably what did it. That or burning 100 children. Or maybe massacring the angry spirits of 100 burning children. Or maybe just the fact that the goal of the arc was to murder the childrens' proverbial lord of the flies, which now that I think about it was a pretty sick pun.
Considering the "TV show" of the Tower of Conviction arc had them censor out when the mock eclipise was happening and the people were eating each other, there's no way you would see adult attack. Let alone how the fight ended.
Tbh the moment I finished the lost children arc I was like yh they are never going to adapt this on tv. I am not even sure they could do it legally without removing massive censorship or removal of the arc.
yeah...the closest we'll ever get to an adaptation of lost children is these 2-3 well made fanmade videos. ua-cam.com/video/NsAPxbDrphk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/par0rwkCCB0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/eHBKrBgc2Ck/v-deo.html
What would even need to be censored tho? The only things would be rosines design and probably the adult attack scene besides that I really doubt anything would really need to be censored
The panel of Guts shooting out of the water after we see Rosines backstory really flipped the scenario. Guts becomes the monster, willing too cleave through 2 Children as recompense for the Eclipse. I went from hoping he'd kill her. Too wanting him too stop and leave in just a few pages
That's the whole "issue" with Berserk : all the worst things imaginable are shown unfiltered. Snowflakes takes it as promotion for those terrible stuff while reasonable readers would understand all those horrendous stuff are depicted as "faithfully" as possible SPECIFICALLY to show how horrible and undesirable that mess is. Granted : not all reasonable readers can tank it, but they can at least understand the core idea that horror should be horrifying.
I actually saw a fandub video of the lost children arc(later read the manga due to conceive detail) i was so hyped but the flaming children caught me pretty good. But a few mins later got used to and said,"Yeah!Fuck 'em!"
It’s interesting hearing about how dark some stories can get, then I hear them and think “eh, worse has been done and happened in the real world.” And that’s pretty much always true. Ever heard of Unit 731, yeah, talk about becoming desensitised. Plus the fact that, well, it’s drawn, pretty much no matter what it does it’ll never be as disturbing as an actual real life incident.
i can definitely understand that view point, sure demons that devour people is pretty nightmarish, but it really isn’t any different from the kind of things that happen in the real world
Man, I love the Lost Children arc, it's well written, the story's great, the characters are great as well but I'm 100% sure we never will get to see an adaptation for the big screen because what essentially happens in the story is Guts is mowing down kids. And people don't really play around when it comes to kids. Can you imagine the absolute insanity that will ensue if the "Adult Attack" sequence were to be adapted? And it's not because of oh people are a bunch of snowflakes nowadays. It's because of the fact that what's happening in the story is very dark and messed up and not everyone in the world is going to have the mental strength to bear it
I don't know if it's because I didn't read the arc myself, but I honestly didn't find this arc that controversial, like, I didn't watch/read Berserk, but from what I researched and saw fans saying, Berserk has a lot of scenes that are brutal and disgusting, so if a person who is consuming something that has that kind of thing is shocked by it, there is something wrong, they should already expect THAT kind of brutality and violence if they were reading a manga that is known for having serious and visually disturbing subjects, so I think they could adapt this arc to an anime, after all, berserk is a well-known manga, and probably the majority of people who will watch this supposed anime are fans who already know the manga and they know the brutality that exists in it, of course, this may be shocking for people who don't know the manga, but honestly? Even with this possibility, I still don't see a problem in adapting this arc, after all, if the person who saw this didn't like it, they just need to not consume this type of content, no one will force that person to watch something they don't like.
Yeah its bizarre, I remember finishing the arc and genuinely being confused at the community's reaction, when I read berserk I already know what to expect so I mostly feel numb when dark stuff happens, I'm just used to it.
Okay I don't like seeing kids getting killed in media but this didn't bother me at all. Guts is one of the lost children. He's at his lowest and damn near completely insane. Its not glorifying hurting kids. Both Guts and Rosine were abused kids who ended up being not much better then their abusers and thats the point. You can't really appreciate Guts crawling back out of the pit He's in unless you see how far he fell.
I have a question. Knowing we already had violance against minor/children in GoT and HotD, is it still impossible to adapt it? Let's say hypothetically HBO won the rights to adapt berserk anime. Do you think they don't have the balls to adapt it?
This is one of the best arcs!! WHY NOT ADAPT IT?!?! Conviction with isidro and puck and even the prostitutes felt like if marvel made a hellraiser movie.. It painfully doesnt mix at all and took away from the dark horror element of what wouldve been maybe the best arc in berzerk.. Characters can make an arc so much better or worse in a story sometimes.. In this case worse..
That and the Black Dog arc. These are too redline for any animation studio. I mean it would fail horribly. This is the same western audience that pissed their pants at the opening of Goblin Slayer. Subject matter aside, thats exactly what i'd expect to happen in a realistic dungeon if things were to go south . Same reason why we have laws to protect women and children during times of war or conflict.
@@kurfew7168 In the manga it was way worse. Especially since its a reoccurring theme. I wouldn't say it was sexualized as much as it was graphic. Its like that one film with the aliens and genes or whatever. The rape scene could have been taken out of context to be sexualized but it was just a part of the overall plot and point of the story. They mass reproduce by any means necessary.

I honestly really disagree I think the reason that it hasn't been adapted is because it's "filler" at least when it comes to the plot and the 2016 adaptation understandably didn't want to spend time on an arc that didn't really have to do with the main plot not cause its too violent or whatever considering how arguably worse the next arc is I mean I feel like Berserk fans tend to overexagerate how violent the manga is and how impossible it is to be adapted when it really isn't it just needs the right animation and direction
@@syntheticvocalist-p472 I understand the story, but I don’t think I have the appreciation of it now as I will as it continues and ends in the next ten years
I personally think this is a really bad take Because of a 97, anime had the main villain of lost children appear. So that means, if they got a season 2, they would have adapted it. And the movies the director said she wanted to make a lost children movie. And lost children wasn't in 2016 because they only had 12 episodes. It's Not too violent to get Adapted, it's more like they never got the chance to adapt it
Dude... they included rape scenes. What's wrong, exactly, with the Lost Children arc? The Golden Arc has guts literally stabbing a child... what the hell's wrong with these people?! Adapt it already!
Just let Netflix make a 1:1 live action adaptation of the Lost Children Arc, they made Cuties after all. Also there are way worse stuff out there, like the godless movie "A Serbian Film".
We don’t Care!!!! Berserk still Deserves a Proper Anime Adaptation that will Cover all Arcs with no Hesitation!!!! Studies need to stop being so Sensitive and Hesitant and give the Fans what they want!!! Why can’t we all just Encourage change through anime Studios!!! Anything is Possible!!!🤩🤩🤩
Uhhh... him being haunted by burning children was dark don't get me wrong - probably one of Guts' worst personal lows going up to conviction. But to be quite fair, the other reason it will never be adapted is because of the uh... Adult attack. I got hella mad at my bf for recommending the series after that. I kept reading of course, but still, that was f-cked up and I think the story didn't need that moment in particular.
I agree but I disagree that the "Adult Attack" moment was not needed. It showcases how malleable children are and put even more gravity on how much damage Adults can cause the psyche of children. Especially when it comes to cases of CM AKA "adult attack"
@@KaizokuSleven I think get what they were trying to convey about the dark side of innocence in a world of sin. However, I thought of it as a pretty morally ambiguous situation before this moment. They were stealing children and eating adults. They were already not "good guys" and we could already see their corrupt innocence on full display the way they turned into a hive mind and killed without hesitation. But they were sympathetic. It almost hurt to watch them be killed. After the mock war and adult attack scene I threw my hands up and was like "Fuck it. They need to die. I'm done with them." I stopped caring about the burning children. I no longer saw any merit in any of them living. They lost the cool ambiguity of "Is there a better way or is guts going to use the one thing he understands, his sword?" Now it was just "Nevermind, Guts is still the good guy again." Idk that may be a simple way of looking at it, but essentially the story felt more grey and Guts' actions more questionable before the scene. And after the scene the moral philosophy of it basically collapsed into what I can only describe as a clash of good and evil, which doesn't feel fair to Guts' character arc to reduce him to an objective moral good at this point in the story
I mean they probably could adapt it but there would have to be bits that are toned down/skipped. I like your example about recommending to a friend and they have to go through all the rough darker stuff to get to Guts vs Rosine haha made me think of the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya Vow in the Snow move, if your a fan of the Fate franchise its a really good movie but all the loli shit in the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya tv series is so hard to sit through and ruins an otherwise good magical girl series

Why would the avg anime watcher watch berserk blindly
I don't think not wanting to depict child murder is a modern problem relating to 'pandering media' much less 'SJW's'... Also, in your conclusion you make it sound like it's a recent issue, even though entertainment media has lost a lot of boundaries over the past 30-40 years. It has moreso to do with berserk struggling with anime adaptation in general, I think. The animation team has to cherrypick the most marketable parts outta the manga to have even the slightes chance at people watching their (god-awful) show.
To add, no matter how dark some media can get, child murder is in most branches considered the absolute worst thing you can depict, jumping your series up in terms of age restriction
I agree. The main premise of this video was to highlight how sensitive it is to adapt "harming children" & how the current climate escalates the reasoning for media companies to not take the risk in fear of being dragged through social media & being cancelled.
