    I have a 10 gallon reef thats been running for little over a month now and im trying to pick out a good shrimp goby for my red banded snapping shrimp, its a toss up between the Wheelers shrimp goby, orange spotted or yellow watchman. Theyre all so cool but i'd have to say rn I really like the wheeler, its color is very nice.

    Had wheeler goby and pistol shrimp for about a month. My goby is not shy and roams around the tank. The shrimp, however, never comes out from the cave. Don't think they even
    met...

      That’s interesting! I am having the same experience with new yellow watchmen goby and the pistol shrimp. I haven’t seen my pistol shrimp since my spotted goby died so not even sure if the pistol is still alive.

    I lost my goby the same way. Him and the pistol shrimp he was paired with looked good the first 12 hours in the tank. They were the only ones in the tank so I though he would be fine. Woke up the morning to the goby on the floor:(

    Great video and nice tank! I have a Watchman Goby on the way and am looking to keep Dragonets and Pipefish in the same tank in the future, so was very interested to see that you're successfully keeping them all together right now (very impressive). I'm just curious as to what you do for feeding? I have seeded the tank with zooplankton, various pods and rotifers, but it's difficult to tell if there's a sufficient, sustainable population in there. Very curious to know your approach!

      Hi, sorry the dragonets and pipefish were in my local fish store. They did however tell me that they ram it full of rock and corals which in turn means there’s loads of places for pods etc thrive. They also feed live and frozen foods.

      Excellent! I haven’t seen my pistol shrimp in a while since adding my YWG but I hear it a lot and still see some evidence of digging.

      Do you have any issues with the pistol shrimp killing clean up crew or cleaner shrimp?

    • @Francis.Rivers

      @@markm266 nah.. pistol shrimp is blind from what i know. The only time you see them attack is when they defend their cave. When You hear a clicking noise, it is trying to shoo a snail of something away from their cave. I rarely see the shrimp & YWG out. Maybe 2x a month. I forget that they’re there.

    How does the goby even find the shrimp ?

    • @Fishkeepingmadeeasy
      @Fishkeepingmadeeasy  Рік тому +1

      They share the same burrows. So the pistol shrimp digs the burrow/ constructs a better one than the goby had. The goby finds the burrow and offers the shrimp protection and in some cases good. It’s a simple example of a Symbiotic relationship between two different species.

    So I got a golby shrimp combo from local shop so for the first day I saw the shrimp and golby but now I can’t find it at all is that normal? And they were purchased about 2 weeks ago now

      The pistol shrimp will dig a den and you should see small piles of sand here and there. The goby you should see pretty regularly but if they’ve made a den at the rear of the tank it might be hard to see them

    You don't have problems with the pistol shrimp attacking the hermits or the snails?

    • @Fishkeepingmadeeasy
      @Fishkeepingmadeeasy  Рік тому +2

      Not really, if they pass by it might give the shell a little flick but nothing major.

    What tank size do you have? Looking to set up a saltwater tank and wasn’t sure what size to get as my first. Don’t have a lot of room but wanted a tank size I can still get cool fish for like the gobies etc

    • @Fishkeepingmadeeasy
      @Fishkeepingmadeeasy  2 роки тому +1

      Mines is 90 litres and is just fits on a small table! You could easily get something about 75 litres and you’ll be fine 👍
