Hello, for the chants: When there is a 2-count, we go "Simplement Deux" (Only Two!), comes from a catchphrase from the French commentators. When a heel character did something 'bad', we went "T'es pas gentil !" (You're a meanie) or "C'est pas gentil !" (This is not kind.) During the main-event, when AJ landed on Rhodes' knee, the crowd went "Ça doit faire mal" (That's gotta hurt!) And the chant for AJ is "Il est vraiment phénoménal" (He truly is, he truly is, he truly is phenomenal). Comes from a stupid "camping chant" that you can find on UA-cam just by searching the lyrics.
I thought that French crowd was absolutely fantastic, what a breath of fresh air. Having crowds like this, all the way through the show actually makes me enjoy watching it more. Bravo France 👏
That crowd was honestly insane. WWE needs to have more shows in Europe if that's the energy that shows up. Doesn't mean every PPV should be in Europe, but maybe a run of RAW and Smackdown
@@BryRobinson I think he means this shows all of Europe needs wrestlemania and Wembley should have wrestlemainia so Europe can have is first and after that we need one in Paris Rome Madrid Berlin and so on cause Europe as a whole is the best crowds itw.
Hello guys I am from Belgium, so today was my first ever experience to a premium live event by WWE and all I can say is that I wish for every fan that never went to a show to experience what we’ve experienced todays show was maybe a little predictable but the crowd was so passionate and all the chants were references to the French commentary team so it made the atmosphere even more special. I really hope WWE finally brings wrestlemania to Europe because DAMN we deserve it.
I've been watching wrestling for 35 years and never heard a crowd better than what I heard tonight. That's what fans are meant to do at arenas when they go. America and the rest of the world take note. This is how a crowd should be, total appreciation for everything that these wrestlers do for us. It's all about having fun baby 🤪
Off the top of my head the only crowd that rivals this one is the ECW One Night Stand crowd. Both were electric all night, but this one probably tops it because it was way more people. This is how a pro wrestling crowd for a big show should be.
Le public français était incroyable Amazing crowd! Made the show feel like the biggest moment in wrestling history, was every moment. Chaque moment avait l’impression d’être le plus grand/le meilleur
When you think about it, announcing to the audience that this was the highest grossing arena gate in WWE history is a weird flex. They were essentially saying to the crowd, "Congratulations! We made you pay more money to see this show then we've ever charged an audience of roughly the same size before!"
It was a fantastic show. The crowd made it a truly unique experience and damnit, all the matches were just fun! Which is great as it’s supposed to be fun
I watched the event and I enjoyed it from start to finish the same way the fans did, man they were hyped and electric. I pretty much expected no titles to change hands except the women's tag team titles and I'm hoping Bianca and Jade have a lengthy dominant reign, and I also wasn't expected to see Tanga loa at all, that was a curveball right there from WWE lol but I am interested to seeing where things go with this bloodline story and if done the right way, this storyline could be epic.
This is the first non-Wrestlemania PPV/PLE event I watch in a very long time. It was great, I think they did the right thing by having only 5 matches as each one had time to breathe, develop and deliver. Damage Ctrl v Belair/Cargill (they need a name) was a was a cluster of a mess, found myself shouting "she's not legal" a few times, but it was enjoyable enough. Jade is one strong woman. Tiffy...that Moonsault save was beautiful. And of course, the crowd being as fired up as they were is what ultimately matters.
The show was great. I was hoping Kevin Owens and Randy Orton would win the street fight but the bloodline always has to get involved and spoil everything. The crowd was the best part of Backlash France. I don't understand French but the camera bouncing up and down was hilarious.
I can totally believe this being the highest grossing arena show. I wanted to go to Bash in Bash in Berlin, but the combo tickets for that and Smackdown where at least 600€. That's to much for me.
Why is nobody even mentioning that the original Bullet Club is now in WWE? Finn, Karl, Luke, Tama, and Tanga. What possibilities lie there? Bullet Club vs Wyatt 6 later down the road?
3 out of the 4 originals are there. Finn, Karl Anderson and Tama. Bad Luck Fale is the other original member. If there was a Bullet Club v1.5, that’s when the Young Bucks and Luke Gallows came in. Bullet Club v2 would be AJ Styles as leader. Tanga Loa wasn’t there until after Kenny Omega was leader; at this point, he was still in TNA Impact as Micah.
Honestly, this is cool nerd stuff because Bullet Club has a lore all its own across the entire wrestling landscape. But... do new stuff. BC reunions on WWE TV have been mid at best because it's just a retelling of a different story somewhere else. Good Brothers are also just not really at that level anymore. There were a couple times they felt like they were a step behind the newbies in NXT.. Great guys and very happy to have them on the roster (especially if they just let them be funny, as they can be). But BC vs Wyatt 6 would be a strange and meh program to me if it didn't have anything more than "Do you see what we're referencing???" on both sides.
@@Cyrribrae if the elite angle gets hot, they could try and counter it by putting them together, helping Fin gets the title back in the process, tama turning on solo leaving him with no support for the first time, lots of possible angles, who knows its all fantasy booking
Tanga Loa didnt debut in WWE. He had debuted as Camacho in 2011. He had a brief run from 2011-2014 in NXT and main roster but Vince ruined him and he was released.
I’m a huge fan of Bayley and Tiffany but there was a lot of moments in that match where they looked like they had zero chemistry. Also the women’s tag match was all over the place love Jade but it’s smart for WWE to put her in a tag team with Bianca while she gets better in the ring.
And we still have Jacob Fatu on the way; though now, I'm thinking they could keep Jey away Main Eventing on Raw, and have Roman and Jimmy recruit him for THEIR side; unless they do a four-on-three situation and have Heyman rejoin his Tribal Chief and The Usos and pass them a weapon or something to make the four...
Overall an utterly fantastic showing. The crowd was bonkers one of the most insane I've ever heard. Yes, every match was pretty predictable but that didn't hurt it at all. R-KO vs the Bloodline wasn't a match but an utter brawl, with a hell of a surprise. We all expected Jacob Fatu and instead, we got Tanga Loa. The Guerillas of Destiny are now in the WWE, which also brings into question how much power does Haku have in Bloodline? Bayley, TIFFY TIME, and Naomi all had massive reactions. This was another solid match, but the ending feel flat. Tiffany will be champion by the end of the year, but I wonder what they will do with Naomi. Priest vs Jey was also a solid match, it would have been better if Priest had won clean, but we see the fracturing of the Judgement Day. The crowd was super into Main Event Jay. The result was never in doubt that Super Cena Blair and Jade were winning. The match wasn't a squash but it ended up being a mess mid-way. I don't know if Kairi was in the wrong spot or if the ref messed up but it really took away from the match. It completely killed the flow and you could tell they had to struggle to get things back in order. Jade was impressive and has shown improvement. Now lets see how long the champs can co-exist and what is next for Damage CTRL. Cody vs AJ was just simply put Phenomenal. Two of the best giving us a match we thought we'd ever see. There were a few messy spots that they managed to salvage. Again the crowd made this match even better. WWE needs to have a Mania in the UK.
I enjoyed Backlash to a point. The matches were at the least consistently good to great to bangers. The French crowd was very loud and animated. However thats where I had a problem watching the show on replay this morning. I get that this was a HUGE live event for Lyon. I don't speak French so I had no real clue what they were chanting. However the chanting seemed excessively constant to the point that it felt like they were doing it just for the sake of doing it. A one point I actually yelled 'please shut the f*** up' at the TV! Even the callers seemed too focused on the crowd. For me it was a constant annoyance. But that's just me and I'm not begrudging them having the time of their lives. But I sense AJ Styles was a tad genuinely irritated by the Lyon crowd during Smackdown when he called them 'disrespectful'. The crowd in attendance shouldn't be the focus but at times it felt like the matches were secondary to the crowd. When something key happened in the matches the crowd reacted accordingly, but otherwise it just sounded like constant chanting. Anyway thats my take on it. Cheers.
Backlash really amplified by the Lyon crowd. Haku as tribal chief would make sense with the current group + The Rock vs Roman + Usos + SZ = Blood Liine War Games
