This would be great to do several dolls with the thin stocking base made several colors of stockings. This way you could make a "Children from around the World" set. Thank you this was a great idea and fun to watch you make it!
When i was in a doll making forum years ago, they used to sell stuffing for dolls in skin tone colors, because white polyfil stuffing would show through the darker stockings and not look as nice. .
I absolutely loved your tutorial. It brought back memories from the 90's. I am definitely going to make some of these for next Christmas, Godwilling. Thank you so much for sharing!
I had a middle school teacher who made dolls and people out of stockings just like this. A group of us begged her to teach us how. I haven't seen anyone making them in a long time 😊
This is a Stumpkin. When I was a kid in the 90’s, I purchased a book from a yard sale on how to make them. The book appeared to have been from the 70’s - 80’s. I remember having such a hard time attempting to make on because the directions were not very clear. This video makes it seem so easy.
I was never interested in making things involving needles & thread (long story 🤓),…BUT I enjoyed every minute of watching your hands make this adorable looking doll from items available in every home. You are a talented and creative artist…thanks for sharing! 🤗
I remember someone in my family having a doll like this back in the 90s, and that one was already quite old. I just remember the face being so rough because of how old the nylon fibers were by that point. It was still a sweet doll, and I've always wanted to make one of my own one day. I get why people have stuck with stockings for the body, but I'd just prefer to find materials that aren't going to be so rough as they breakdown with age.
I wonder, can you use the stocking method as the "inner" layer, and overlay some other fabric that is smoother or less likely to end up like you say? There's no rule that says you cannot use an extra layer made from some other fabric, right? Also those quilting squares people buy to use to quilt; lots of them have some very small patterns on them which would look great I'd think. I'd prefer an extra layer anyway, because I'd not want that stuffing to get loose in the wash. In fact, I'd simply use the stocking as the "lining" layer, myself, for all the parts. Even second hand T-shirt materials would work, if budget is tight and the requirement is for soft and stretchy.
Спасибо за видео , я тоже хочу научится создавать таких милашек как у вас , но я боюсь , что у меня не получится .спасибо вам всего вам доброго и хорошего .
Hope wow you have just fetched my child hood back to me . 60yrs ago I used to make these over the yes I forgotten about all the creative things I made. You have light this spark. Thank you I've subbed liked and my comment . I hope to have hours of fun watching your videos . From Glasgow uk
Очень понравилась работа мастера с куколкой , не смотря на свой возраст , любовалась до конца труда. Вот я хочу с внучкой посидеть и мастерить такую куколку . Спасибо вам ! 😊 😂 ♥
These used to be sold at the Cherokee reservation area. As a Native American I used to be offended at them, as I felt it portrayed us as round/fat, and unattractive, but as an adult I see that it is supposed to be the image of a toddler. I see that they are making them for white people now, too. Yours looks nice. We used to have beads sewn on ours, and the clothes was made out of mostly cheap fabric mixed with home-made items such as end pieces to homemade rugs on a loom. We used to think of them as scrap dolls, because we made them out of scraps. I used to put friendship pins on them. We made hair for them out of yarn.
I was glued to the screen from the beginning to the end. My smile was a perpetual fixture. Thank You for sharing this gorgeous gift of yours.
Same here. I felt my heart melting for this little cute creature
Me too😊

This home made doll is so adorable!
Adorable. Made one similar for my daughter 35 years ago when I could not afford the cabbage patch.
I love that!
Cabbage Patch Kids fade from memory. But, a kid is always going to remember a doll that somebody made for them with love!
Yep! I remember making those in the 80's!

I'm always stabbing myself with needles so you are not alone lol x

I bought one of those dolls back then like you mentioned because it almost looked like one of my kids. It was $22.
Maybe use a pair of winter leggings? i.e. thicker stockings. I think I am going to do just that.
These are absolutely adorable!
💖💖💖💖💖💖 Trop mimi , superbe !!! Merci pour le partage 🙏💖
