I kind of got the hint, when Yi Bai Yei spoke those words, if Wen Kexing was ready to die for Zhou Zishu, and Wen said he was. I knew that it meant giving a life, was like giving his heart, not dying, but giving away his heart to another. So they did not have to kill and remove a heart, they needed to cultivate, and be in love, in order to continue living as an Immortal. That is how I interpreted it, the white hair, was all his internal force, being used to help Zhou Zishu, I fell hard for this drama, and its poetry! Thank you for your descriptions.
I actually like that “省省吧你 (save it)” line from A’Xu when WKX was trying to distance himself from A’Xu who unexpectedly showed up at the fake falling-off-the-cliff scene. It is less explicit than “you’re my person”, but it sounds more indulgent and protective. If someone completely disregards the biases and hostilities towards me by pretty much the entire world, walks slowly to me and stands that close, asking me to “save it”, I drop dead on the spot...

In the drama, WKX simply wanted A’Xu to recuperate properly because he was tortured at the court and in very poor health. WKX thought he could fake his death at the cliff quickly and come back without A’Xu ever knowing the whole charade. However, a servant who was supposed to watch over Cheng Ling unexpectedly came back to the Four Season Manor and let A’Xu know that Cheng Ling became aware of WKX’s Ghost Valley master identity. A’Xu went to see Cheng Ling to explain, but heard about the big fight at the cliff on the road. The script is going for that classic “wrong time wrong place” type of tragedy, but not very successful. This whole trunk of plot is not in the book. The book has a very straightforward revenge+happily ever after ending.
I would love to see the original script being shown in the drama. If that happened, this drama would literally be out of this world 😳 the amount of fangirling for this drama would def exceed its maximum.
I don’t think we could ever sleep if that was the case every fan girl would be waiting for the next episode so they could intentionally scream on top of their longs, I also think if that was the case International fans would have to wait For a decade to get English subs

Thank you for all these sugars lip readings. I loved that it’s pretty much a confirmation of a HE for our main leads. If anyone still wanted to believe that it was a BE, then they just in denial. All I can say is that WOH is truly a gem. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen a drama like WOH that has all these sugars lip readings and extra goodies so far in other dramas. Not only the drama is great, but fans/viewers also have a wonderful time by becoming lip readers, learning about poetry and so on. Such a wonderful watching experience. I can’t imagine how crazy we would be if we got the real dubbing since we already this crazy with the way it is 😂 I hope in the future they can release all the extra stuffs that couldn’t be shown in the drama. How awesome that would be.

I just got into the c drama scene in November. It's a whole new world with so many things you don't see in the western media and I love it. Also, I might be thinking too Korean ("내 사람" (literally = 我的人) but 你是我的人 sounds super emotional to me. Not only romantically but just in an emotional connectedness way- even if it was a great friend. It is not like you're mine, right? It is "you're my person, the person who will be there for me and I know and trust that you will be there for me. And since you are my person, I will also do the exact same for you." Fav show of the season really! Too many gold moments in this one.
The part about the ending is definitely comforting for freebie viewers who don’t have access to the special episode! So the screenwriter really DID say they both survived due to their love! If only they could have kept that for the international release!

I found an Easter Egg from another reviewer and OMG! What a find! Episode 36 around the 37 minute mark, Wen KeXing mouths, “爱你” (love you) before he closes his eyes and focuses on the Qi running through him. Some people also discover that Zhou Zishu also says it at 38:32 but I’m not so sure but it is pretty obvious once you see it, that WKX says, “爱你”. Would be great if you could verify that, you’ve been so spot on with the lip reading for this series.

I've only recently binged Word of Honor (ep 35 as of this writing), and the amount of times I've rewatched these videos along with the poetry and cultural references, you'd think I'm studying to pass an exam. lol
I watched it on Netflix, which has extra scenes that weren’t included in the original Chinese broadcast, and I thought it was sugary enough with all the flirting, and now I find out it was extra sugary! Thank you for these videos - this just makes me appreciate the cast and crew even more!

Clears up so much, thanx! The ending was just so much wtf, but it’s nice to know it’s clearly implying that both of them can survive. In any case There would be absolutely no point to Ye Baiyi giving a one-sided survival card to Kxng when if Zishu woke up to be stuck alone in a frigid vault in a mountain, he’d just immediately kill himself anyway. And I mean immediately. Everyone knew it too. How many times has this guy tried to kill himself already by this point, srsly. Ye Baiyi already knows it’s a curse to live like that alone anyway, so why would he wish that on anyone else? It makes more sense that the actual commitment to die for someone is necessary (maybe Ye Baiyi knows that because one side of his own partnership failed, so his partner died?) Also, adult Chengling looked way too happy to be telling a tale about how both his masters died (And definitely: if one died, the other would suicide).

"They already toned it down when they filmed it"👀 oh my. I don't remember precisely, but I'm fairly sure the English subtitles aren't a direct translation of the official Chinese dub. A lot of these lines you're revealing seem very familiar. I am very sure the English subtitles in the treasure cave scene were closer to the line Gong Jun actually spoke, although I think it was a little more teasing. Something like "if I read this right...are you willing to eat snow and put up with me forever?" It was definitely a rhetorical question rather than a statement, which it needs to be to match the actor's expression. No wonder the audio in that scene sounded strange. English note: "undead" is not really the right descriptor for how Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing end up. It is usually taken to mean a person without a soul, or who was at some point bereft of their soul. "Immortal" is the word used in the English subtitles to describe their state. It's really confusing because while "undying" is a synonym for "immortal", "undead" is very much not.
At the end you were talking about how they need to love each other to survive, I think that might be true. Also, some people say Wen Kexing whispered "Love you" while transferring energy to Zhou.
I just read that part of "luckily / fortunately" in the novel and he didn't say it there either, he just thought it. they were actually completely true to the novel in that scene 💜

All I can say is that WOH is truly a gem. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen a drama like WOH that has all these sugars lip readings and extra goodies so far in other dramas. Not only the drama is great, but fans/viewers also have a wonderful time by becoming lip readers, learning about poetry and so on. Such a wonderful watching experience.
I can’t imagine how crazy we would be if we got the real dubbing since we already this crazy with the way it is 😂 I hope in the future they can release all the extra stuffs that couldn’t be shown in the drama. How awesome that would be.

I actually found an uncensored vid on tiktok where you can actually hear gong jun say "ai ni" (it wasn't officially aired tho) so it is true! I forgot to save the video but I am working hard to find the user again!
@@stephaniemobedjina677 Are you sure that wasn't a fandub? There are a couple of fandubs going around where voice actors dubbed the "ai ni" (along with the other lines). I doubt they'd ever release a BTS with Gong Jun saying it

I cannot thank you enough for doing the lip reading and telling us what was really meant to be conveyed. So many surprises but most of all immense satisfaction and closure that the writers did their best to keep the story for what it was meant to me. I just finished the drama last night and was so upset at the ending until I found the special Episode 37. But your explanations and discoveries through lip reading the original dialogue has shed so much light into story. It is so interesting that they just changed a few words in a line to water down the effect, but the impact is immense for the audience. Cannot thank you enough! I will watch your live stream next.

I just got into the c drama scene in November. It's a whole new world with so many things you don't see in the western media and I love it. Haven't watched too many dramas yet, but I have read a view translated books. I'm so glad I fell into the c drama hole its so refreshing to experience different things. Zhou Zishu: 你是我的人。😏🤣 Now I get it why I found that "Stop" line of ZZ a little bit out of place. 🤣 Well yeah, the line fits with the scene, since Wen Kexing wanted to spare him with the trouble of being part of the "stage play" 🙄🤣 but, but somehow, we knew there's more from it. That ZZ might have said something more intimate to convince his hubby. 🤣 Yay!! Thank youuuu! 🤣

Also, I might be thinking too Korean ("내 사람" (literally = 我的人) but 你是我的人 sounds super emotional to me. Not only romantically but just in an emotional connectedness way- even if it was a great friend. It is not like you're mine, right? It is "you're my person, the person who will be there for me and I know and trust that you will be there for me. And since you are my person, I will also do the exact same for you." Fav show of the season really! Too many gold moments in this one.
The part about the ending is definitely comforting for freebie viewers who don’t have access to the special episode! So the screenwriter really DID say they both survived due to their love! If only they could have kept that for the international release!

I found an Easter Egg from another reviewer and OMG! What a find! Episode 36 around the 37 minute mark, Wen KeXing mouths, “爱你” (love you) before he closes his eyes and focuses on the Qi running through him. Some people also discover that Zhou Zishu also says it at 38:32 but I’m not so sure but it is pretty obvious once you see it, that WKX says, “爱你”. Would be great if you could verify that, you’ve been so spot on with the lip reading for this series.

In any case There would be absolutely no point to Ye Baiyi giving a one-sided survival card to Kxng when if Zishu woke up to be stuck alone in a frigid vault in a mountain, he’d just immediately kill himself anyway. And I mean immediately. Everyone knew it too. How many times has this guy tried to kill himself already by this point, srsly. Ye Baiyi already knows it’s a curse to live like that alone anyway, so why would he wish that on anyone else? It makes more sense that the actual commitment to die for someone is necessary (maybe Ye Baiyi knows that because one side of his own partnership failed, so his partner died?)
Also, adult Chengling looked way too happy to be telling a tale about how both his masters died (And definitely: if one died, the other would suicide).

I don't remember precisely, but I'm fairly sure the English subtitles aren't a direct translation of the official Chinese dub. A lot of these lines you're revealing seem very familiar. I am very sure the English subtitles in the treasure cave scene were closer to the line Gong Jun actually spoke, although I think it was a little more teasing. Something like "if I read this right...are you willing to eat snow and put up with me forever?" It was definitely a rhetorical question rather than a statement, which it needs to be to match the actor's expression. No wonder the audio in that scene sounded strange.
English note: "undead" is not really the right descriptor for how Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing end up. It is usually taken to mean a person without a soul, or who was at some point bereft of their soul. "Immortal" is the word used in the English subtitles to describe their state. It's really confusing because while "undying" is a synonym for "immortal", "undead" is very much not.
