I once had a client that ended up asking for maybe 4 sets of revisions and then a whole new design to which I asked to be paid more. They ended up refusing to pay me at all and asked for their deposit back to which I replied no. They called me unprofessional and countless messages were exchanged. Things like this really dishearten me as a designer because sometimes people don’t realise how much time we spend creating things for them.
That's where you have to set limits. ex: Let the client know they only get 2 revisions max and a non-refundable deposit for your time. Have the client sign a contract stating these tailored limitations. You were right in asking for more money when they wanted to scrap their original design...
As for the client scrapping the design. Have it written in your contract that the deposit is for one original design. If they want to start over, that's a new contract & deposit. Don't let people take advantage of your time. ❤
Love these instructional videos! As a graphic design student, it's extremely informative and interesting to get a peek into another graphic designer's creative process!
I study journalism, but anything with design inspires me to be more creative and I even want to incorporate my own designs into platforms I wanna create some day. Love hearing you talk about graphic design!
you are honestly one of the reasons I got into graphic design! I'm now doing my diploma of design at tafe (I'm from aus) and it's a massive passion of mine now! so thankyou for inspiring me and continuing to do so! xx
i love these videos! are you able to show mini tutorials on how to do basic graphic designs! 💛 i’ve always wanted to learn and i never go to take a class in college
Loved this video! Please, could you share your favorite graphic designers? It would be a great way to get inspiration and discover new artists! I’m just starting on graphic design and I’m really excited to learn and try to create things. You really inspire me 🌊
Lindsey your videos about graphic design are awesome, especially for someone who's trying to follow this new path & still figuring out how & where :c thank you!
Really inspiring! I could listen to this for hours hahah. I'm about to get into an internship and hope to learn more about the business side there as well as skills in the Adobe programmes because we don't get it taught at school. You answering these questions already helps! 🙌🙌💕
you're videos always make me wanna study graphic design 🥺, I'm completely in love with your style and work I wish I had more options at my country, but Lindsey, do you know if there's anyway I could actually catch up on that maybe with a post grad, or an exchange, like would it be as validated as a normal grad? ahahaha it would be really helpful
Absolutely!! I taught myself photoshop and just started using illustrator and now I ONLY want to use AI! Its certainly a learning curve from PS but vector graphics are so important in graphic design and since I just started freelancing and got 2 orders for logos I had to offer vectors! I watch UA-cam to learn, and also skillshare!
I'm in graphic design high school so to speak( i have no idea how to describe my school in English) and I feel like this is something that I could potentially go to university for later but holy shit my teachers are horrible and I have 10% creativity and skills. Our teacher gives us an A for literally doing nothing. My classmates download shit from freepik, are done in 1 hour and get an A while I'm over here struggling to even visualize what I want to do. Because of this environment where you get an A for simply existing, I don't want to spend 10 hours on a shitty assignment when I can spend 2 hours doing something simple but that I'm not satisfied with at all. I have no motivation to do better when it's not going to get acknowledged in any way. Not to mention our assignment is usually "hey remember that technique that we did in 1st grade and never practiced or brought up again until now, yeah now incorporate it in this picture" or "today were doing an annual 12-month catholic saints calendar like we do every year, download this calendar from the internet and copy it word for word". I'm not that creative in general and it takes me a day to even come up with an idea with the help of Pinterest and its hard to work on those ideas when I have till the end of that class to finish the assignment or I get an F. So yeah, I just had to rant for a minute about how awesome graphic design can be but I'm just having an awful time doing it.
Can u show your updated portfolio ?
you can find it on her website

Stevi Anaya yes that’s exactly what I do now!
