  • Crochet tutorial for the Crisscross Ear Warmer. This is an easily adaptable patter for any size. Just work a foundation double crochet to the head circumference making sure your foundation dc is an even number.
You can use any size hook and any weight yarn. I used a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn and a starting foundation dc of 64 for an adult size ear warmer.

Hello. Can you clarify what stitch you started the first puff stitch in row ONE? You said the “first stitch” but are you referring to the chain space?

I got it done but the stitches are diagonal. Oh, well it still looks cool! Thanks for the video.

This is so gorgeous!! The color and the pattern! I'm going to start making one right now! Thank you for the easy to follow and understand tutorial and for the inspiration to crochet something! You have a beautiful skill, both in crocheting and relating how to make what you made. Thanks!

Jennifer, did you make this earwarmer, and if you did, did you make it with the same amount of base chains in the video? I just made another ear warmer and there were 72 single chains for the base, and it fit my head, so I’m wondering if that’s how many I’ll have to do for this one?

    • @jennifertrusty6997

@@daksmom1999 I'm currently making this one right now and 64 stitches was a good fit for my head with this pattern. I did a different ear warmer crochet pattern the other day and a comfortable fit for me was 71 stitches. I think it really just depends on the stitch and yarn used and how tight or loose your stitches are. Once I worked 64 of the foundation double crochet of this pattern, I put it around my head and it felt comfortable to me. I hope that helps. She mentioned to make it however long you need it to be by how comfortable it is around your head on the foundation row, just make sure to use an even number of stitches.

As an update, I finished the one I was working on and a chain of 64was perfect for a very comfortable fit, I possibly could even reduce it by 2 with the next one I make for a bit more of a snug fit, but I think I like the fit as is so far. So easy to make!

I love this! Does the first chain 4 count as the 1st double crochet?
    Thanks for sharing this😊

Hi, I keep getting holes along the joining column. I make sure to use the stitch next to the first puff stitch &I've even tried going in it. Either way I still have gaps in each row. Any ideas why this is happening?

This is such a pretty pattern! Can I ask how much yarn you used? (As in how many grams?) I have some beautiful hand dyed DK merino wool/silk mix left over from another project and it would look amazing as this ear warmer. I only have 73 grams of it though (and it’s soooo expensive to buy more if I run out)

You don't have this on your ravelry. I went to add it do my projects after I finished, but it's not there. Fun Project, btw. Made when the temp dipped suddenly one night and needed something to keep my ear tips from freezing off, but was tired of my hats

Yes, definitely! The stretchy stitch would make a great brim for a hat. I've used it on many.

I dont have one for toddlers, but all you would need to do is make your starting chain to size. Then simply follow the pattern.

Was a little hard to see the stitches behind the hands, so I gave up on this one! Maybe will try it again later... Also worth nothing that the first chain 4 in the foundation chain counts as a DC stitch. Had to undo my second row when I realized it :P

You will slip in the first puff stitch of pull up yarn, skip stitch and pull up yarn and go into last stich repeat this three times you should have seven stitches on hook pull through chain one, go into the puff stitch and repeat, I hope this

Hello. I don’t like to start my foundation this way. I made a couple I think it’s messy at the join. Just ugly. If yiu have a nice way. I’d like to know but no matter how I join the notion it’s ugly it’s loose. So I’ll just do a regular base. Ok. The join is much neater.
