Athough the Kraken might not have a top d-line prospect, lets hope Dragicevic, Nelson & Price can bring that two-way play to the NHL. Thanks for a great video, from Sweden!

The good news is the D core is really good at the moment and shouldn't need too much help in the next few seasons. So as long as at least 1 D prospect works out they are all set!

Here is a text I sent my buddy the morning of the draft - "I want Berkly Catton but Kraken are gonna go dman".
Needless to say i am HYPED. I see a future with Wright centering Catton and Firkus. Nhl on notice 😮😮

I had similar feelings about Iginla but I also never even really considered the possibility of them taking a forward. I'm excited for the potential of Catton for sure!

Appreciate your breakdown of the Kraken’s draft picks. I can’t wait for your FA and trade season recaps.
So far I am very whelmed with the two FA signings. Has not been too much to get excited about.

Short quick reaction to the FA signings. The team got better but the contracts are concerning, Stephenson's in particular.

Yeah I really like Catton, think he could def be a first-liner on the wing, though I'm still surprised they didn't go defensemen with either second rounders. I wonder if the prospect imbalance is going to hurt us to down the line, or they focus shoring up the blue line with FAs and Trades. Either way still excited for this class

I think the lack of Defensemen in the pipeline isn't a huge issue at the moment and is more likely to hurt them in ability to make potential trades than it is to hurt D-core at the NHL level.

The majority of players drafted as centres in juniors never make it as a centre in the pros, they are often converted to wingers.

I think that is likely where Catton ends up but we'll see

I'm 100% fine with the Offensive minded draft picks. They need that in the pool. Dunn , Borgen, Evans all three are young their NHL Future is clear. There's veterans in the AHL to help the draft picks get better. This team needs Centers that can win in the Draws. That's the biggest problem they have. They lost more than they won in the Offensive zone. That killed the Power Play and any offensive play they came up with. They need more wins in the faceoffs.

Faceoffs are often something young players struggle with when they first break into the NHL so it'll still be a while before that help comes from within tho Matty did noticeably improve in that aspect last season. I agree tho that I like the picks.

Seattle has a deeper D prospect pool than people give them credit. Caden Price, Ville Ottavainen, Ty Nelson, all show signs of being good NHL blue liners.

Yeah I remember him saying that last year. I want to try to get him out to a Kraken game sometime

Local boys for attendance ???? What your feeling of the stars last year that might score this year in NHL?

    • @CheapSeatsSports
      @CheapSeatsSports  3 місяці тому

I don't think they were prioritizing local players because they were local, it was just kinda a happy accident. They probably were able to scout those players a little better so maybe that played a role but I doubt it was a significant factor.
As for scoring, for the Kraken I'd expect last year to be a low water mark for most players on the team, especially with the new offensive systems coming in. I think Beniers will be set up well for a bounce back season and If he can stay healthy Burakovsky. McCann will still likely score plenty too.
Around the NHL it's probably a lot of your usual suspects with Bedard taking another step forward and Nashville a very interesting team to see what happens with the overhaul they made.
